same experience here.I tried black magic last week. Strung full bed at 50 lbs in a pacific xforce frame. I have genesis typhoon silver in my other xforce frame. I have tried lots of polys over the last 12 months and typhoon has become my favorite.
I enjoy play testing strings and thought I would try black magic. My comparison is simply between bm and typhoon and two hours (3 sets) of singles indoors on a rubber surface.
Ive been playing 45 years (I'm 54), played hs & college tennis and tried my luck on the satellite circuit in the early 80s. I had a flat classic game but that has changed since switching to a lighter frame and poly strings.
Compared to typhoon, bm felt stiffer, crisper and had less feel. The ball had less pocketing and came off the stringers fast. Bm felt good on flat ground strokes but not as good on topspin forehands or inside out groundies.
I had confidence with bm but not the same swing out and watch the ball drop off a cliff at the baseline.
Serving was ok. Again, stiffer and crisper than typhoon. I liked bm and found it better than many of the other ploys I have tried but I Am in love with typhoon.
I think there are great nuances among all the ploys and the trick is to find the best fit with swingspeed. Typhoon is just plain let's me swing out with confidence and creativity. Haven't found that with any other strings yet.
I did try turn a big hitter blue rough yesterday. I read the review on RSI and felt it was worth a try. Didn't find it worked with my game. Playing as I do with typhoon balls were flying out by 6-12 inches. Couldn't find my range unless I took something off my swing. Was down 2-4 in the first set the bhbr, switched back to typhoon and won the set 6-4.
Between the three I would rate typhoon, black majic, big hitter blue rough, 1-2-3.
I'm pretty much sticking with typhoon. Its the only string I've bought in a reel. I am receiving the new genesis tri-blade string this week and will string it up and compare it to typhoon when I play again on Saturday.
The only difference I was playing with BM first and then tried typhoon and never went back to anything different.
I highlighted the part where I totally agree with you word by word. ;-)
