The «good and bad» of Shapovalov's tennis game

Canadian rising star D. Shapovalov is given a lot of media coverage nowadays. We must know that he just defeated R. Nadal recently and that he is considered by some tennis coach as a futur ten top tennis player. If you want to know more about this young player, I recommend you to read this article. This article analyses the «good and the bad» of Shapovalov's tennis game based on a statistical analysis of his match results. Come on guys ! Clicked on the link but it’s hard to read an article written in poor English. I normally don’t comment on grasp of English when it comes to forum posting or verbal communication but it’s impossible to ignore with blogs and serious written media.

His win over Federer was just unreal!
Sorry, I made an unintentional mistake about Roger. He's never played him actually. Sorry guys

I understand your point but you're a little bit unfair. It's written clearly and we understand the basic ideas of the author. But thank you for watching. One more time, sorry for the mistake about Roger.

I'm sure the first time Denis plays Roger, if that happens, it will be overwhelming for him - I would think Roger would win, but then it was unexpected that he beat Nadal and others too. I think it depends on the day, the surface, the context, and the way they're playing at the time. Would like to see it though.

Roger has a habit of loosing :D to a new talent...ex first time he played Murray Nadal or Nole , I think Zverev too, mostly because they come fully prepared. Shapo would get overwhelmed at some shots and rallies tho but his swiftness and power will b a pain for Roger , since after all he is 36 now.

Valid point, but Shapo’s wins against Nadal, Tsonga, etc have put him on the radar so Roger will come prepared. And he’s said himself that Shapo’s a player who has “another gear”. Shapo strikes me as a streaky kind of player, will be very interesting to see if he becomes a dominant force on tour or someone who is a regular contender for big titles but not more.

Yeah point taken , he has come in everyone's eye now, people like me are already his fan now. Federer can prepare for him now, just his past history is a bit daunting.

You will have your chance next week in Basel if Denis can win his first two matches. :) Would love to see them play for the first time as well. Shapo wanted to practice with Fed at the Laver Cup, but Roger's press commitments apparently prevented that from happening.

If they meet in Basel, Fed will probably hit his short slice to draw Shapo into the net, since his volleying skills are still bad. But he shows a great willingness to come forward anyway, which is a great sign. I think Roger beats him easily, but this kid has great talent!
