Can you imagine Evert, Navratilova, Graf, or even sister Venus saying a lot of those negatuve things? Nope. Serena gets her motivation to win thru pride, anger, and uncontrolled emotion. Works for her. Hasn't killed anybody. But why a lot of people (not most) and some players don't like her.

My favorite on court statement -- 'cause it's real there -- was during her huge defeat by Roberta Vinci. You know, when she "played out of her mind"?

"YAS, B*TCH!" With a touch of body-language (shaking a clenched fist) after she hit a winner.

I even needle-pointed a decorative pillow with that, I was so impressed. It's on the bed in my guest room. So my guests will feel welcome.

Could we say that, with these statements record, Serena is the Maradona of tennis?

Serena Williams: "You owe me an apology. Say it. Say you're sorry!"

Serena Williams is undoubtedly the perfect role model for all the school bullies out there.
You know, what struck my creepy-bone most about that statement was a 45 yr old wo-man talking that way. When my baaaaabeeeees were 5 yrs old they didn't talk that way. My brother and I didn't talk that way -- so juvenilly, "say yo sorry", like that'll make everything all better -- when we were kids, either. I should say that to my husband sometime; really loud & obnoxious while I POINT at him. He'd probably slug me. And I wouldn't blame him. ;^)B

You're absolutely right. The worst part is not even what she said, but the way she said it. Utter and complete disregard for the umpire who is only trying to do their job to the best of their ability. I applaud Carlos Ramos for not backing down in the midst of that heated exchange and having the guts to dock Williams a whole game knowing full well the impact it would have on the rest of his umpiring career.
