What do you think is the best match of this year overall? A biggest upset, biggest choke and worst match will be categories as well, so vote accordingly. This is from an all around-enjoyment standpoint with high quality tennis. Multiple votes are allowed for this one and votes are public. The poll will end Dec 1st, or when it is lopsided enough for a winner to be clear. If you don't see your choice... vote for other and post with the name of the match. It counts just the same. More categories will be added tomorrow.

Djokovic vs Nadal Roland Garros 2013 was definitely the best quality match.

That is the worst and the most disgusting match of the year (actually since 1993). The better player lost because of Pascal Maria and biased officials.

The best matches of the year were:
1 W SF - Djokovic - Del Potro
2. AO 4th round Djokovic - Wawrinka
3. AO final
4. MC final
5. WTF final

There is nothing entertaining about a very forward match with zero momentum shifts to the point of saying match of the year. If so, Nadal-Ferrer in Acapulco would be better than both.

Oh they were both very entertaining indeed. Believe me.

MN, why did you give people the option of picking multiple matches in the poll? Just curious..I think it would have been a lot better if you only get one vote for this type of poll. There should only be one math that someone finds the MOST enjoyable to them.

RG SF between Nadal and Djokovic has the best combination of historic significance and match quality.

I agree with you completely, but I feel like many people would have been asking to vote for more than one, and the "other" option kind of allows for that unfortunately, so overall, it's just the best solution.

I'd probably vote for Nadal v Djokovic in the FO semi-final.

But I think Federer v Murray at the AO semi-final should have been mentioned.

After all, as well as being a great match, it is also the last great best of 5 set match Federer has played all year and may be the last great one in his career for all we know!

I think Gasquet and Wawrinka from the French Open deserves a nomination. I don't think the USO final should really be there tbh. From those that are on there I think Del Potro and Djokovic Wimbledon is the best.

It's gotta be the RG semi. Novak showed amazing heart to push it to 5, only to activate god-mode Rafa at the end of the fifth.

Are you even capable of enjoying a match which does not have Djokovic as the winner? (honest question)

Djokovic-Wawrinka was a great match, really enjoyed that one too.

I think it's between Djokovic-Wawrinka at AO or Nadal-Djokovic at RG. Both were tremendous matches.

I'd agree with that. Djokovic-Wawrinka was very enjoyable due to quality, clash of styles and of course closeness. Nadal-Djokovic had great tension, great quality, lots of drama and lots of significance both for their rivalry and Djokovic trying to win his missing GS.

I would go on and say that Djokovic holds the lions share of the best matches this year.

AO V Wawinka
RG V Nadal
W V Del Potro
USO V Wawrinka

Montreal V Nadal
Shanghai V Del Potro

These come to mind immediately as high quality matches.

For me in terms of sheer quality, the Gasquet Wawrinka match at RG takes the cake. The 4th set 1HBH duels were from a different planet. Great stuff!

Do you get tired being you? I'm just curious.

The match of the year for me is Stan verse Djokovic at the Australian Open. The shotmaking was absolutely incredible and the match never declined in quality. It had everything - longevity, twists, turns, and a numerous amount of highly dramatic moments. Also, since I reside in Melbourne, Australia, the match was much more atmospheric and alive than usual.

Second would be Nadal verse Djokovic at Roland Garros followed by Del Potro verse Djokovic at Wimbledon.

It really is close between Djokovic/Wawa AO and Djokovic Nadal..... for me and in the poll :o

Let's just say I wasn't sober during Djoker/Wawa and I'll never forget how epic the ending was  that was a good day. Djoker/Nadal FO was crazy too. So dramatic and the momentum shifts were insane. Nadal was absolutely beating up on him during parts of the match, others he became timid and Djokovic was dictating play. The 5th set was ridiculous from Rafa. He knew Djokovic would steamroll Ferrer and get his career slam if he won. No wrong answer between the two for me.

^ A lot of people discredit Nadal and say he was lucky to pull through that semifinal encounter with Djokovic at Roland Garros. As it is true the match could have ultimately gone either way by the end, people tend to forget and deliberately overlook the fact that Nadal was serving for the match at 6-5 in the 4th set. It could have ended right there if a few things went Nadal's way and Djokovic got a tad unlucky.

Exactly. Nadal had Djokovic running like a chicken for over half the match. He was at 30-15 in that service game too. It should have been a wrap right there. 2012 Rafa would have closed it out. In hindsight, I'm glad he didn't because the 5th set had so much tension. Rafa never looked like he didn't believe he could break back though.

The FO semi final was epic and dramatic but the quality had lots of dips IMO. Djokovic was good in sets 2,4 and 5 but he wasn't there in 1 and in set 3 he looked like he was injured or saving energy or something. The 5th set from Nadal was Godly though...

Yeah and Djokovic should have routined Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 7-5 in USO 2011, beaten Nadal in 4 sets in AO 2012, etc...it's all equally revisionist.

Match of the year had to be Djokovic v Nadal RG "final". It was a really tense match and never seen Djokovic play that good on clay before, I was literally squeezing my beer can with my mates when he went a break up in the 5th set then was mad as *** when he went over the net! Felt like I just got stabbed lol

Shame I can't find any highlights of that match on youtube, there was a very good quality of tennis from both players.

Didn't get to see the Djokovic v Wawa match at the AO but saw the highlights and that was a tense match too.

Here's a shoutout for the fed-tsonga match at the AO ...not necessarily as the best ... but it deserves a mention among the best matches of the year ..

has to be wawrinka - djokovic at the AO for me. I was amazed by the quality plus it had a very dramatic end.

and it was a match where both players felt like winners

I had to go with the Nadal - Djokovic FO SF. It didn't have the quality of the Wawrinka - Djokovic AO SF, but it did have the drama behind it, so I have to go with the FO match for MOTY. If we were voting purely on quality then the AO SF wins it of course.

I never felt Djokovic was going to win the match really, in that 5th set I could see Nadal raising his game. I knew he'd get the break back.

For me the best match was Djokovic/Wawrinka at the Australian Open but the Djok/Delpo Wimbledon SF is also right up there. The quality throughout was just amazing!

This.

Nadal-Djoker FO IMO.

The Djoko-Wawrinka match was great and epic and all, but it didn't count for nearly as much as the FO semi. Plus the semi between Rafa and Nole was epic too of course.

Djokovic-Wawrinka AO match was like Rosol-Nadal match except Wawrinka couldn't pull of the upset like Rosol did.

Gasquet - Wawrinka Roland Garros 2013

Not many people saw this match because it wasn't highly publicized but the fourth set was one of the best I've ever seen in my life. I saw it live but I haven't been able to find any highlights online. Just because it wasn't a final or semi-final doesn't it make it any less of a match.

Easily Wawrinka Djokovic, that whole match was just a highlight reel , was hoping for stan to win but djokovic's defence is just unbelievable!

This poll is so locked it's crazy. I'm just going to let it run until the 29th when the time on it runs out. So get your votes in!

Wow, this poll is deadly close. Also, interesting that most of the matches happen to have Djokovic in it, what a badass
