@Kralingen now that you're back, what are your thoughts on the heat's pieces halfway through the season? I.e. Herro emergence, Bam regression, Ware finally a path from small ball, and possible Jovic potential
So, I have a vested interest in the Heat being bad (the hilarious Rozier trade netted Charlotte a 27 first, which goes to unprotected '28 first if Miami misses the playoffs this year). I've actually watched quite a bit. Much to my chagrin, they have some real young talent. Herro has been a baller this year. He's just so cold. He plays like how JJ Redick played at Duke, that same swagger, same shotmaking confidence, seems to make every three he takes when they need it. Ware is still raw (especially on defense, ways to go) but he's clearly a massive steal where they got him. Such a freaky athletic profile and can really play. Jovic as well is going to be very good, he's strong and can shoot. I'd like to see him get a handle though.
The issue is a) they're constantly playing catch-up on the athleticism and offensive talent front, they don't make many threes, and b) that Bam is now playing like Udonis Haslem on offense. Hell even Haslem had a reliable pick and pop mid range. I'm not sure what's up with him, he's still fundamentally sound but his touch is gone and he seems unathletic. with his contract they're sort of locked into the Bam experience and I'm not sure how it gets fixed. It could just be fatigue from the summer, but this Bam isn't taking them anywhere but the play-in.
They may have been handed a blessing with this Rozier thing. Getting out of his money early could be huge. They need a real PG - they never replaced Dragic and it really shows. and some real athletic guys on the wing imo. You can only do so much with the limitations they have. I think this summer's free agency will be crucial for them
