The 2024-2025 NBA Season

OKC just doesn’t scare me at all. SGA has the game of his life with a 50 ball and still loses a lopsided game to the Dubs. That tells me two things: 1) their defense is fraudulent against actual elite offensive players and 2) SGA is their only real shot creator.

Regular season they force tons of turnovers and swing the game that way, get teams tired and put up crazy shooting performance with guys like Wiggins and Dort hitting 7 threes. That doesn’t feel like a winning formula. SGA may be as good as Steph, but Jalen Williams isn’t a Jimmy Butler.

OKC is 2022 Boston. Good but unserious club.

One thing about comparing SRS versus teams of other eras is that you need to normalize it to account for scoring inflation.

The ‘95-‘96 Bulls had similar SRS but when average scoring per team was 20% less, it means the SRS was actually 20% more impressive than same SRS today.

They’re a bit better than that imo, I doubt Shai will put up the horror show that Tatum did, but I do see very similar pitfalls. That offense is gross at times. Just endless passing around the 3 point line and looking very mortal when the game comes down to trading buckets and their elite defense is only a good defense.

Nah they arent. East was actually good that Boston navigated through that year. Tatum wrist was janked. Unfortunate. Typical Curry luck

Like if Tatum even shot 30 percent, they win that series. Series was lost donating them Game 4.

They were not going to blow a 3-1 lead if they didnt give away that game

There is one similarity in that neither team can handle Steph and his cavalcade of illegal screens and BS. The fact that the Dubs are 2-0 (1 loss was without Steph) vs supposedly the best team ever really makes my case better than I possibly could.

A perusal of advanced stats and odds makes two things clear to me about this ‘24-‘25 season:

1. Okc is underrated.
2. The East top teams are overrated.

Nba.com allows to isolate stats versus each conference, which was eye opening.

You forget also that SGA is an extremely FT dependent player and those players tend to struggle a bit in the playoffs when the officials magically decide to start calling the game somewhat close to balanced around the written rules.

Dubs up 14
Thunder down 14

Preview of the playoff series. It’s already over, I’m just the first one to realize it
If you are right, we will have to call this type of prediction a “Kralingen”.

Gotta respect a man who doubles down on his bold predictions with no hedging.

The Thunder are cursed by clay bennett’s deal with with devil to steal my beloved SuperSonics.

It is probably not possible for them to win a title. If they come close, supernatural forces will intervene.

Remember, this is a franchise that drafted a nucleus of KD, Westbrook, and Harden, and then found a way to F it up.

LA is the only city in America Ben Simmons would be happy enough to play that well.
Clippers are also doomed to be cursed by Ballmer’s betrayal of his hometown by giving up on quest to bring a team to Seattle. Picking up a bricklayer faux good player is such a classic clippers move. Just like pairing up PG and Klaw were a fake championship contender.

They way karma works, the SuperSonics will win a title before either the thunder or the clips ever do.

Do note that "aura" is just a mega lame Gen-Zisn for a completely real concept.
Yes yes, I’m too aware unfortunately. I used to use aura quite a bit in separate contexts before it got ruined. But anyway I was referring to the real concept, however you want to phrase it. An air about someone perhaps. Also used the the cringe slang to refer to the celebrity or athlete worshipping culture which I frankly don’t typically care at all for. Basically jimmy butler really that guy, can’t be crapping his pants man

Turned on sports radio driving to lunch today, and I hear Doug Gottlieb trying to make the same case that Kral is backing.. that Warriors got the best deal at the deadline and are the team to beat in this year’s playoffs.

The airtime McClug gets on his leaps are incredible add to that the creativity he's made for the dunk contest.

That All Star Saturday night was a joke. I had to apologize to my GF for making her watch. From CP3 trying to cheat to win a skills contest to a dunk contest with no dunks outside of one guy. Just embarrassing.

Ja and Giannis tweeted about doing it next year which probably won't happen. Until there's stars that actually care the dunk contest will be dead. Again.

Yeah the dunk contest in the 80s and 90s used to mean something.

The last really cool one was Nate Robinson using fellow competitor Dwight Howard as a prop. That was awesome. And it actually raised Dwight’s popularity for being such a good sport to let Nate get the glory.

Mr. Beast segment was super cringe. Was draggin on but the kid ended up making a shot before they needed to go to commercial. Not sure how far 100k is gonna go in the bay area either.

Also lol'd that he kept using Dame's full name (Damian). Makes me wonder if he's actually a fan or just saw this as another publicity opportunity.

Yeah man, I’m now officially convinced that Silver has no clue what he’s doing and that this league is only going downhill. Terrifying miscalculation on his part.

Thought this was hilarious and on point.

One other thing worth mentioning, a lot of folks commenting on how they feel for guys like Cade or Wemby making their first all star game and this is the product the NBA decides to put out. I can understand experimenting to a degree, but those guys barely had any moments to shine tonight because of the format.

Everyone just stands around. Defense is non-existent. There's nobody within 20 feet of the shooter.
Game is first to 40 points.
This is utterly unwatchable. What absolute rubbish is this?!
