The 2025-2026 NBA Season

Presti calls Milwaukee tonight if he’s serious. Chet and JDub both getting max contracts is legit laughable. JDub, a young player, and the picks, and go get your Giannis. Thats the only way anyone has a chance against this superteam for the rest of the decade.
They won over 60 games. The lost in game 7 to the healthier team. I don’t think making big moves would be wise.

If even half of this is true, I believe you must be an exceptionally effective jinxer.
The key to remember is that this is the worst jinxer he will ever be. His jinxes will never fail again.
I still cannot believe how much you didn't want the Pacers to win that last year. We could have had SGA on zero rings right now. And kept them where they belong with zero aura. It's not like I even much like Haliburton or the Pacers, but compared to OKC? It would have been hilarious if OKC lost. And they're only getting more annoying. Glad the Spurs nipped that in the bud.

And I am actually with @marc45 now and think they (Knicks) have a better than good chance to finish this.
My thinking is that Silver has more influence over NBA playoffs outcomes that most people think.

There was no way Silver was going to miss his golden opportunity to get Wemby into the finals, especially when the Thunder are a very unpopular low-ratings team nationally, with a star who is reliant on foul-bating.

But once he gets the Knicks into the finals, then he doesn’t care who wins, as long as it goes 7 games. Ideally the Knicks don’t fall behind in the series too fast. He needs NY fans to be invested.

NBA got the finals they wanted, and it's good OKC lost because those two key injuries doomed them...their coach is downplaying it but it mattered big time

I just think the Spurs inexperience will play out at a key moment or two and cost them a game....Fox reappearing should give them some confidence...Barnes doesn't seem to be a factor anymore...the Knicks are all in their prime and have a perfectly constructed roster and depth...I think that gets it done in the end

btw, if you didn't see it...the best joke I've heard in a while

The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to run it back next season, bringing back Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Kenny Atkinson, per @joevardon

(and Altman I'd add)

...........

and yet the Sixers poached a member of the Cavs staff to run their organization...the Cavs front office which put together a horribly constructed roster for years now, and are in salary cap hell

there will be a lack of excitement for next season pretty much equal to the times LeBron left

Wemby puts a forearm into Hartenstein's face and doesn't get a flagrant foul. Replays looked even worse. He was dribbling past him and then throws an elbow as he was passing by.

If he continues these type of plays, he better watch it bc tall skinny legs = vulnerable knees.

whatever happens in the finals this is pretty frightening...

San Antonio's offseason outlook

A Finals win could mark the start of a potential Spurs dynasty, headed by Wembanyama. Not only will he be on the roster for the foreseeable future -- it is more than likely he will extend his contract this summer -- but San Antonio will return the same starting lineup (De'Aaron Fox, Castle, Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie) from this season. The Spurs also have reserves Dylan Harper, Carter Bryant, Luke Kornet and Sixth Man of the Year Keldon Johnson under contract next season.

As a result of their young foundation, financial flexibility and future draft capital, San Antonio's roster is sustainable. The Spurs have four picks in June's draft -- two in the top 35 -- and a combined 21 first- and second-rounders from 2026 to 2033. More importantly, the Spurs have the right to swap first-round picks in three different drafts, including with the Atlanta Hawks next year. -- Bobby Marks

Top YouTube comment bait. ''Holmgrem wishes he had called in sick for that international tournament.''
The ROY debate I think is even more fuel

I feel like the Knicks and Wolves are similar enough that the experience there will help the Spurs a lot in this series. But neither team is remotely close to the level they had in any of the games they played this season. Both are playing much better. It feels like a great matchup in the making.

With the cap they basically have 3 more years before they probably have to part ways with someone. If they can get a couple rings from this then that would be about as good as you could hope for in the modern cap era.

Wembanyama winning 10 titles

Wemby has become the greatest defensive player that I’ve ever seen; maybe the greatest of all time.

Here are the players the have the most games with 6+ blocks since the 2023-2024 season:

Summing up the above link, Wemby’s 27 games with 6+ blocks a game since the 2023 is as many as the #2, #3, #4, and #5 guys COMBINED.

If he doesn’t get hurt, then he will hit a level never before seen in the game. He’s got the genetic cheat code. It’s not fair that a 7 foot 5 guy with a 96 inch wing span has that much mobility.

I have to admit this is an exciting matchup. The city is alive. Just feels different entirely. And NY does really have a chance, despite my belief in GOATyama.

It’s very exciting in NY. I just don’t know what to make of the Knicks. They really haven’t been tested yet. The Spurs have 4 killer talents and ultimately talent usually wins games.

Really strong start for NY. Their gameplan is clear, get Wemby out of the lane and then ruthlessly attack. KAT is a great matchup on that end, but I think their frenetic pace is going to die down and kill their legs during the series… it’ll be interesting to see how they maintain their energy in the fourth quarter vs San Antonio’s young legs .

Still just watching makes you realize how rudimentary the Thunder offensive plan actually is. They dont play with pace, the lack of driving is apparent, and they didn’t punish Wemby for leaving the paint.

just what I’m afraid of even as a Spurs fan I want an entertaining series and the bench of the Spurs absolutely dominated those first subs.

That knee ain’t healthy. The Spurs have missed almost every shot this quarter and are winning.
Brunson just turned his ankle too. The Spurs crash dummy strategy worked to a charm. He’s gonna be in crutches and a walking boot by game 3.

It’s basically over, as far as I can tell… Brunson torching their drop coverage was basically the only real path to victory they had.

Spurs are just so mature for their incredibly young age. I can’t emphasize enough how no one ever wins anything with kids in the NBA. There have been 22 yr olds to be big contributors to title teams (Magic, Bird, etc) but they were with experienced star talent. This team’s “vets” are a crappy Fox and Keldon Johnson . Harper and Castle are ludicrously composed and physically advanced for guards that age, and Wemby enables the 3 ball handler lineups that have so much versatility and speed. It’s unbelievable how good they are already. Wemby is 2-10, yes, two for ten, and they’re still winning handily.

The Knicks do not have an answer for them if Spurs shooters are hitting at a reasonable clip. I dont think anyone does.

barnes is obliviously anchoring them with the championship dna he acquired with the dubs

Knicks have played just about as good of a second half as I’ve seen all playoffs. Super active defensively, attentive box outs, blowing by SA guards and pulling Wemby out of position then finishing.

Perhaps I was wrong about them. But then, I didn’t expect VW would shoot 3-14 and play one of the worst games of his life tonight either.

It’s a good thing that my Wolves team got rid of KAT. He’s quite valuable for the Knicks.

These Knicks are playing aggressive ball. They’ve honestly shocked me so far.
