In conjunction with the cancellation of The Championships, Wimbledon, the ATP and WTA have jointly announced the continued suspension of the ATP and WTA Tours until July 13, 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to Wimbledon, the suspension covers the entirety of the ATP/WTA European grass court swing, including ATP events in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Stuttgart, London-Queen’s, Halle, Mallorca, Eastbourne, as well as WTA events in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Nottingham, Birmingham, Berlin, Eastbourne and Bad Homburg. The suspension comes into effect at all levels of the professional game, including the ATP Challenger Tour, as well as the ITF World Tennis Tour. At this time, tournaments taking place from July 13, 2020 onwards are still planning to proceed as per the published schedule.

Are there any plans to support (financially) the lesser known players and tournament staff?
Edit: I think the ATP and WTA should invest in the future of the sport by doing the right thing (reasonable financial aid) in these uncertain times.

Does that move make Federer really mad ?? that would really interfere with Laver cup which is roger's crown and jewel. this means rafa won't be playing in laver cup

RG pissed off a lot of players, and my guess is roger was not happy, nor really mad... his usual calm self.
they announced they will try to reschedule laver cup. not sure if that is a done deal unless they change venue? my guess is they want to keep td garden

The way RG staff behaved during these tough times (not waiting to see the extent of the spread of the pandemic and postponing to a random date, clashing with other tournaments, not informing organizers, players correctly) cements their place as the least organized of the slams.

I’d rather say they are very well organised and also smart. Cause at that time it might be safe to have the slam, at the latest possible as well.
Laver cup is just for a few players and not fair on the tour.

wimbledon cancelling was a classy move (vs RG rescheduling over laver cup)
Grand slam tournaments are not mandatory events for the ATP players. Every player is free to not participate in the FO and play in other tournaments, instead of playing at RG. Several ATP Challengers have always been held during grand slam tournaments. Fed, an owner of the Laver Cup, ruled out his participation in the FO a long time ago – after having knee surgery. So, nothing prevents the LC organizers from holding their entertainment event.

Good morning @octobrina10 .
Hope you had good sleep and had your coffee.

Do you understand the difference between playing a Grand Slam and Challenger from the perspective of a pro player?
If not, try to have an espresso and give it a new consideration.
Perhaps then you might want to edit your post or stop posting this nonsense.
Hmm. The French Open's postponement won't prevent a pro player from playing an ATP Challenger tournament scheduled for the same time.

which same time?
May 2020?

or do you think that in Autumn any top 100 player eligible to play in the main draw of Grand Slam will say no to the points and money for the GS R1, perhaps even more in case of win(s) and will choose to go to play Challenger where in case of winning the event, the prize money will be like 1/8 of the GS R1?

So all exos aren't fair to the tour? When Nadal and Djokovic play exos, it's not fair? To who, exactly? I'm not asking this snarky, just mystified. The Capetown exo between Fed and Rafa recently wasn't fair? Tennis is a business, the best players make the most money and play in exos to pull in even more money because people want to see them play. Nobody's paying $200 a ticket to watch Paire played Simon. I'm no fan of Laver Cup but saying it's "not fair" for the tour I just don't get. It's a moot point anyway, it won't be played this year.

At these times where no tournaments are played and when it’s finally opening again, I bet many players would find it unfair that only like 10 players can do it.

I meant the new dates of the 2020 French Open.

Hmm. The exos you mentioned are not in the ATP Tour Calendar, i.e. these exos have nothing to do with the tour!

RG pissed off a lot of players

Oh yeah, because the average professional tennis player enjoys sitting at home and not making any money. They would rather be watching Laver Cup on TV. How could anyone think of disturbing an exho with a two year tradition just to play something as insignificant as a Grand Slam?

I think Laver Cup is still suffering from growing pains. I don't think they want it to be like an exhibition, but not everyone sees it that way. It's still struggling to find legitimacy, which could come with time. Fed is obviously one of the big draws of the event though, if he retires, then it could suffer.

Nobody will be playing in Laver Cup, or RG, or anything else. This season is a write-off. If it resumes at all, it won't be in the format we are familiar with - even if the outbreak is under control by summer, until a vaccine is available no country will allow hundreds of players/coaches/support to country-hop every week to different tournaments. It is a massive infection risk.

When tennis resumes, it will likely see all players going to a single country (or cluster of countries) that has recovered from the virus quicker than the others. They will do their 2 week quarantine, and then stay there for several months to play a league or series of tournaments.

It's not ideal, but it's the only real option for getting professional tennis happening and generating money any time soon. It will be a long, long time before a truly global tour can be resumed.

If they are playing RG with no points, then the French Open becomes an exo just like the Laver Cup from a Tour point of view ... albeit a more prestigious one.

I’m sorry but WTF is an Exo? Is this Call of Duty?

Laver Cup is so cringey. Phony forced comradery shamelessly organized by greedy Federer. Good riddance.
Thanks COVID-19!

I hope you put your face mask on before that spray!

Guidelines say that masks are optional for non-health-care workers.
Will NOT be wearing a silly looking bandanna mask. Neither is our beloved POTUS.
Not at this juncture. We will reassess as developments warrant.
In the meantime, life goes on!
#30 days to slow the spread.

I would pay to watch Paire completely lose his sh*t against Simon.
