The aura of dominance..

Big 4 have been pretty much racking all titles.
Even before these players peaked, there was an aura which surrounded them, telling about their forthcoming dominance on court (with the way they dictated play). Then Del Potro arrived. He possessed a similar aura. After that, there has been a big void. IMO, Tomic was the next person to have that court presence and demeanor. But soon he faded away with his poor work ethics. Nishikori, Dimitrov, Raonic, Thiem, Dolgo, Gulbis, Cilic, Pospisil, Young etc. might win something big in future but they lack this aura of dominance.

I believe Kyrgios is the one among new ones who seems to have inherited this aura. He has not won anything big till now but you can already feel the imminent ascendancy.

Before W, I had discussed this aura stuff about Kyrgios with Nathaniel_Near. He had similar thoughts.

Your view?

When Isner or Raonic are on their serve, hitting 140+ aces constantly,
that Aura of Dominance glows brightly. However, the big 4 have ways to quickly shut that down.

perhaps there is a language barrier here but if Tomic has/had an aura of dominance then I guess I am not familiar with the term

Perhaps he means cockiness? Arrogance? Aura of belief that he can be good? :-?

Dimitrov and Thiem have the aura, especially the second one. I follow his facebook page and this guy is writting an analyse after every match in both english and german what he had done well and what he needs to improve. The way that he is thinking, apreciating his opponents, his attitude, everything around this kid is showing me that he would be a future great. :)

No one had that aura more than Federer in his prime. The matches were over as the players were walking on the court. So much so that it made tennis quite boring, at least for me.

That's initially was my favorite thing about Nadal--probably the first Nadal match I ever watched from beginning to end was W 07. Even though Federer won, it was so exciting to see someone who wasn't awed in the slightest by that aura that Federer has. What you sensed from Nadal in that match was courage.

FreeBird close to vindication.

Regarding my views towards Tomic, agree or not, he has the aura. He has the uncanny ability to maneuver rallies.

Though I was wrong to some extent. This aura is not entirely inherent. Nishikori seems to have developed same kind of aura (though not intensEe) where he can play a rally and dictate it according to his wish.

Despite winning a slam, Cilic doesn't seem to possess that aura.

Kei, Nick, Bernard, Raonic, Dimitrov, and maybe Coric and Thiem are the players of the tour.
