Volklmaniacs RULEZ!!
I forgot how much spin that the Melbourne produces from its cupping action made by its recessed grommets. I had to adjust to keep the spin from pulling the ball into the net.
I'm starting to give more modern rackets a try (newer than 1990 for example, I typically use early 80s graphites) and just picked up a smattering of DNX 10 Mids. I have them set up with Babolat leather grips and an Wilson Pro overgrip, both strung with Klip Legend 17 strings, and I have been supremely impressed with them - tons of power on shots when I'm hitting out, great control, and I seem to be able to bend the ball (like when I play with a Rossi F200) more than I've been able to with any other recent racket.
I would definitely put it above the x10/325 that I played a couple weeks ago, and the C10 Pro (which was a great racket, but I really have a hard time with the 98 head size, and the DNX 10 seems so much more solid).
I've given a lot of player's sticks a try in the last number of years, but this one definitely stands out. I really need to try the BB London Tour, but I'll probably hold out until spring for that...
What do you think about X10 295g compare with other 10s?
Sphinx;Absolutely right, I found that this allowed me to get more aggressive on my second serve. I've gone with a flatter trajectory that gets through the court much quicker than my kick but also really sets up the short slice against opponents.
When one utilizes that cupping action, the spin pulls that ball in giving me more margin to hit seconds deeper in the box over the BB11.
Never tried the PB10 MP. My first foray into Volkl was the DNX 10MP and although I liked it, the BB11 blew it away for what I wanted. I feel the Melbourne did the same thing to the BB11...first demo match with the Melbourne I was going to pull the BB11 out for the 3rd set...I hit 3 shots with it and immediately went back to the Melbourne. It's that good!
This is a Gen I or Gen II ???
Neither. This one is typically referred to as Volkl Quantum Tour 10. It is 18x20.
