The best looking forehands

Best looking forehand is all a matter of taste I suppose. I've always preferred backhands to forehands but my number one has to be Sampras.

My number two would be Kafelnikov's, yes I liked it + I always believed that it was unpredictable (same as Yevgueny :laughing:).

I don't have a number 3 but I liked Agassi's and Becker's as well.

Hard to say for today's players. Just my 2 ct opinion though.

Anyway, mine would not even be ranked in my top 1000 :cool:...

Obviously Rogers FH.

Berdych and Verdasco also have beautiful forehands.

I invite all of you to watch Mackenzie McDonald more. Beautiful technique, so simple yet so effective. Go on Matt Lin’s channel and watch his court level college matches with McDonald. Wow.

Federer (especially peak), Verdasco, Gonzalez. Soderling's forehand is lovely regarding high balls that are hit downwards, but other than that I'm not too fond of it. Don't like Dimitrov's. It's a watered down copy of Federer's, lacking the power and sting that makes Federer's so good.

2) Segura - the rotation, the body motion, the follow-through, all forming a beautiful flow.
3) Stosur - her "snap-spin-win" forehand is wicked, yet hit with style and poise. a cool killer.
4) Henin - explosiveness and elegance perfectly blended.
5) Dimitrov - a solid replica of 1)

Devenport's and Nalbandian's forehands were very nice too, her simple and fluid, his clean and controlled. I also like Mecir's nonchalance, as well as the ka-boom effect of Gonzalez and Mirsa.
Nowadays Nishikori's is a looker; the way Ivo Karlovic smacks it from up there is pretty cool; Serena's seem to get more beautiful with time. Tsonga's is wonderfully flashy, Tomic somewhat classic.
Cannot end without mentioning Sampras' lightning forehand on the run, Nadal's spectacular running banana pass and Monfils' extravagant flying forehands.

Moreover i read on internet that the famous Spanish forehands were modelled after his. However for my country it was a pitty Okker did not teach us anything after his career because he was only interested in collecting cobra art. What was so special about Okkkers forehand was the unusual topspin and the seemingly late preparation when we were told to prepare early and in a straight line. He appeared to use a lot of wrist too which weas stricly forbidden by tennis coaches at that time. Ofcourse he had good footwork too.

Yes, there was a reason for it, and you will learn it now - it was the best forehand WTA had seen at the time, NOT for it's beauty.

Graf's forehand, as effective as it was, was not a conventionally good looking shot, and this is a thread about aesthetics.

Yes, Serena's forehand has become better looking in the last decade or so - more compact, with a classic arm movement, nice follow-through that goes behind the left shoulder etc. If you don't like it, it's perfectly fine, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Probably, any such list would start with Roger's, and for running forehands - though different Sampras and Rafa come easily to mind.

It depends what you prefer. Sock has a great FH, but I don't enjoy it so much. Jimmy Arias - for a little guy - really threw himself into his...an early modern FH, which I enjoyed.

Really great post, only quibble I have the lack of appreciating "effect".

Yes, Steffi's forehand was not conventional. Maybe that added to its beauty.
