the best online tennis service/app for recreational competitive tennis players

Dear avid tennis players,
Am I the only one seriously who is tired of finding local tennis players/tournaments/courts and scheduling them myself rather than an app doing it for me?

I have tried multiple tennis apps, but really can't find one app that will help me do the following:
1. Schedule tennis matches for me
2. Find tennis players/courts/tournaments
3. Organize a tennis ladder
4. Rate tennis player, have a wholesome tennis profile

Do you think there are apps that do this already?

What would be the things you would want to see in such an app that truly adds to a tennis player's life?
 
Hmm... on vac i've used a bunch... what i'd want to see:
* allow blasting in your local area for a range of players
* only allow you to blast within .5 higher and .5 lower of your stated rating
* allow you to put in a schedule/zipcode (optional), and match automatically by general area and level and schedule
* allow you to rate (eg. ntrp + comment) your opponent - ie. to eliminate all those folks that self-rate higher than they really are, cheaters, jerks, etc...
* allow you to optionally put in scores.
* if you have an NTRP or UTR rating... use that as your baseline (ie. a proven level vs. self rated), with a link to your record...
* post a video
* allow filtering further by selfrated v. computer (ntrp/utr) rated
* allow filtering by vid or no video (ie. more further proof you are what you say you are... serious players likely to post.. crappy players will not put in the effort to post)
* tag "favorite" players
* "dislike" players (ie. remove them from your search list permanently (ie. jerks, bad players, cheaters, etc...), and they will be removed from yoursearch list, not allow them to contact you, etc... )
* "activity level" property (ie. order search results putting most active players first.. - ie if you haven't been on the site in 2y, it's a waste for it to come up)
* create a local ladder (by zipcode within X miles?)
* separete court finder,... allow folks to comment, when it's busy (vs. never used) - ie. some places you can just find poeople by virtue of a place being used alot
* separate wall finder
* allow folks to advertise "will hit for $X"... ie. if a 5.0 is charging $50/h to hit... while on vac, that's worth it to me (similarly a 3.0 might be willing to pay $10/hr to a 4.0,... etc)
 
GLOBAL TENNIS NETWORK HAS THE BEST. IN MY AREA (oc) THERE IS A FREE LEAGUE THAT HAS OVER 250 PLAYERS; ALTHOUGH ONLY HALF ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE, I THINK THE GUY RUNNING THE LEAGUE KNOCKS OUT NONPARTICIPANTS EVERY FEW MONTHS. GIVE IT A TRY!

global tennis network is decent, and had some success find people... thinggs i'd add:
* ways to rate other players
* input scores (get a true idea of skill level)
* link to utr or usta (ntrp)
* broadcast, and text via phone (ie. often folks responded weeks later because they never check the app/email/etc... but would have played had they gotten the notification)
* a mobile app

presumably folks are rated based on actual sccores (vs. tiny youtube vid of someone hitting against someone else)...
ie. if i'm a 4.5C, and I beat a 4.5S 6-0,6-0...
it's safe to say that the 4.5S should be dropped to 4.0S at minimum

main thing i'm trying to guard against... i run into ALOT of people that self rate at least 1 level (eg. .5 NTRP) higher than they really are.

i actually did that myself for a while, then in a real email, i fess up and say i'm really just a 4.5C.

For competitive matches I agree. Level is critical for (usually) good play. I have done challenge ladder lists in the past where you get an initial placement and you could challenge 1 below or up to two people higher at any time, no more than two matches per week.

Challenging and losing 1 below moved you down two spots
Challenging and winning 1 below moved them down one spot
Challenging and losing 1 above moved you down a spot
Challenging and winning 1 above moved you up a spot
Challenging and losing 2 above moved you two spots down
Challenging and winning 2 above move you up two spots

It was crazy fun to both challenge up, but also to try and crush people below you to move them down- plot twist lol. You could play both a champion and a spoiler.

what i ultimately did when i ran into say a 3.5 or low 4.0 that i beat in the first set, 6-0, is to alter my strategy to make it competitive:
* s&v
* moonballer
* hit only hit out on the bh (ie. just neutralize with my fh)... maybe go dtl bh more often (when i really shouldn't)
* dropshot/lob.... ## though this style tends to annoy people so not great for making first impressions
* play lefty.... ## guaranteed to not make friends after
etc...

There are currently 462 tagged match videos that are connected to match listings for various players on the UTR system, as part of our proof of concept work. These videos have time between points removed, ability to navigate to start of points, and match stats.

How much interest might there be for this type of service among league players?

allowing me to find players of similar ability in various areas would be HUGE.

when i'm on vacation it was impossible to find folks to hit with at my level (ie. everyone thinks you're BS'ing your level, and doesn't want to take a chance)

through utr, if someone says they are UTR X... i'm inclined to believe them either through video or through an actual UTR score

Or just update your match data ... hasn't updated since early October ... that would be a good start, before fussing with adding video.

Also ... what is it with your levels for women? How can you have players that have an actual "rating" (not projected) range from a low 3.0 all the way to a high 4.0 NTRP all in your level 3? That spread would make for miserable matches.
