Am I the only person who thinks Agassi has hands down the best backhand in the game? The pace, the consistency, the depth, the angles, the timing, cleanness of shot, how early he takes the balls. Agassi can take anyone in the modern game in a backhand crosscourt rally.

I love Fed's game as much as anyone, but his backhand is nowhere near as threatening as Agassi's. I saw them both live, Agassi's backhand is a monstrosity. He hits it so hard and so consistent, he puts anyone on the defensive with it right away. Even Fed was feeling it at USO. Also, notice how most guys prefer serving to his FH. That's 'cause they know they better be going to his FH, not BH.

Overhead-Haas
I've never seen him miss one of lose a point after one.
Yeah! Rock on Haas!

Federer is the only player who can hit an ace on demand. Notice whenever it is breakpoint, Federer will ace all the way to deuce if it is a big match. He has the most effective serves and shows why Roddicks serve really isn't that impressive.

That's a lie, if Federer could ace on demand, why doesn't he ace his way through a match? Oh? Because he can't. Duh. Don't take this out of the realm of the plausible.

First serve-Roddick
Second serve-Roddick (the true second serve should go to Sampras though..his second serve was a BEAST)
Forehand-Roddick
Backhand-Kuerten
Return-Agassi
Volley-Henman
Movement-Federer/Hewitt (man Hewitt has some grinding wheels...)
Passing shots-Agassi
Overhead-basically everyone..(most Pro's can really nail those overheads)
Mental Toughness-Agassi (Federer is tough..but you can see how he easily gets frustrated ala Agassi)

Krajicek, Ivanisevic, and Stich had what I call great serves because their serves were still very effective against 'better' players like Becker, Sampras, Agassi(*edit* actually Stich has never beaten Agassi) and Courier. Roddick's 1st serve isn't much trouble for the 'better' players of which there is currently only one. I have no doubt Federer would have more trouble handling the serves of Sampras, Krajicek, Ivanisevic, and Stich rather than Roddick's.

In my books a great shot, be it serve, forehand or any other shot, should still be a big weapon against players of equal or higher calibre.

It's much easier to be 'mentally tough' when you have the 'best' game out there. IMO Courier and Chang needed more mental toughness than Sampras to compete like they did and of the current players I'd rate Hewitt above Federer in mental toughness.

Of course he cannot hit them everytime. I am saying that he hits them when he really sets his mind to it and tells himself that he needs it. Watch one of his matches. I have seen him go from 30-40 to game after three aces. He does it ALL THE TIME. If you get a breakpoint from Federer, you better expect an ace.

Aoya, all I have to say it is quite amazing you can win 3 of the 4 slams without being the best at any part of the game, and you can win of the 4 while being the best at 3 parts. LOL! I can just envision the huge Andy posters, and the Roger dartboard in your bedroom right now.

Also while one doesnt have to give the mental toughness to Federer, there are other candidates obviously, how Agassi could get it is beyond me. Is anybody forgetting Indian Wells, and the U.S open both were Agassi was in great position to win and Roger
"outtoughed" him. If Roger is frusterated by Andre, Andre is even more by Roger.

forehand Roger Federer
backhand Safin
return Agassi
volley Henman
movement Hewitt
passing shot agassi
mental toughness hewitt
overhead Henman

Tim Henman has the best second serve? You are joking arent you. I thought it was common knowledge that is one of his biggest liabilities, and he is prone to double faults and short second serves at key moments.

First Serve: Andy Roddick
Second Serve: Joachim Johansson
Forehand: Federer, but I like the way Gonzalez runs around his and hammers it lol
Backhand: Safin
Return: Federer
Volleys: Henman
Movement: Coria/Reid
Passing Shots: Federer
Overhead: hard to say....very few pros have a bad overhead, but I'll give it too A-Rod and Safin
Mental Toughness: Federer/Hewitt...Nalbandian is metally tough too
Lob: Hewitt
