The best Wilson Six One 95?

Been on a contract with Wilson for many years an had access to all of them. Contrary to popular belief the 2017 Re-issue 6.1 95 18x20 (parallel drilled holes) is the only one I have committed to use. They put the best aspect of all of the 6.1 frames in this new re-issue. Only a minor tweak or two with lead tape and players can find what they want based on their game. Toughest aspect of the 6.1 95 frames is finding more.
I hated the paint job of that reissue. The red at 3 and 9 wasn’t even a real Wilson red. It looked more like salmon and the paint job looked cheap in general. I posted about this on the board and Peter Fig himself acknowledged that the quality of the paint used was in line with the price point of the racquet (about $130). I don’t mean to criticize your favorite 6.1 95. Its playing qualities may have been phenomenal for all I know. I only played with it for one session before going back to my 16x18.

I am about to get a couple more Kfactor, never know how long we will be able to buy them for.
Does anyone know where I can source grommets for the 18x20? My Ncodes have been through alot and are in need of some love.

Will have to completely disagree with you there about the 2017 reissue paint quality.

I have a couple and both of mine have fantastic quality, and the 3 and 9 are very nice quality glossy paint with same for the pearly white color. I have owned and played with a bunch of Wilsons (Burns 95s, Blades, Ultras) and this has by far the better quality paint than all. Worst ones were the early Ultra Tours but then those got better. Current V7 Blades are great paint too.

And it was very surprising to me too since 2017 reissue Six One 95 was a lower price point stick and you had $200 plus sticks chipping paint and getting dinged just by looking at them wrong, and this cheaper stick holding its paint very well by comparison.

The paint on the 6.1 95’s is so much better than my RF97’s There is no comparison. It doesn’t fade, chip, peel and doesn’t scratch easily. I paid $89.99 for my frames new and bought one in almost new condition for $75.00.

I appreciate the photos. The color on yours even looks like it has a deeper shade than the weird “salmon” red/orange that was on mine. I ordered mine straight from TW too. I should clarify regarding the my paint quality vs price point comment. What Peter Fig seemed to imply in his response to what I wrote about the racquet was there was some consideration given to the price point when they came up with the paint job.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been pretty happy with the RF97 paint durability. Some scuffing but not chips yet.

Would love to have my RF97’s painted with the same paint as the re-issue 6.1 95’s in flat black and shiny black at 3 and 9 and decals.

Just curious, What string and tension?

is this a new release of Wilson six one 95 (18x20)?

looks like what they released under the "Pro Labs" moniker.

Re-release of the HPS6.1. In the US it was released around Thanksgiving 2020.

nCode for me.
I have 3 of them and they have been my go to frame for 10 years.
Like many other frames but I always come back to the nCode

Me too. I am trying to find another one 4 3/8 grip. Can't find any!
I have the one and that is enough for me. It's not like I would ever consider trying to make this my main playing frame, especially considering that I have mine set up in the DelPo configuration (leather grip, OG, dampener, lead at 3/9).

So, the other day, the neighbour says they got this old ass racquet they never use and want to clear out their shed(which is nice and insulated, carpeted, has a dryer TV etc). And I am like, OK, sure - expecting some old kids aluminium frame. Well, the first thing she hands to me is a kids size aluminium frame. So I am all, yeah of course.
Then the second thing she hands to me is this, a Wilson nCode Six One 95 Team in excellent condition:

It had been hiding in a shed for years, inside it's original cover. Never used on hard courts, original strings and stencil.
At first, I thought it might be the special edition from TP, but it has the original non SE buttcap and black grip.
But it doesn't have the yellow PS at the top of the inner hoop, so maybe someone can tell me which version this is?
This thing is just gorgeous.

I just removed the grip because it was a gooey mess. So, yeah, definitely something like 16+ years old. It is in fabulous condition otherwise.
I didn't want to put any lead in the hoop for fear it would remove the paint. So I added enough to the handle, then threw a leather Wilson grip on top to bring her to 330G.
I know if I add some poly it will add another few grams to the hoop anyways.

its probably closer to 2008 btw, not like it matters

the normal 6.1 95 didnt have the cosmetic change to the white color blocks here, this is in the styling of the nBlade and nTour2 which I actually think looks pretty awesome

nice find - w/ Wilson leather at 330g youre in normal 6.1 95 territory

She came out to 344ish strung. I put Lynx Tour 125 in the mains at 23kg crossed with RPM Blast rough at 21.5(which is much less stiff and much more lively than the standard version).
I hit with her briefly last night during our weekly social doubles(though we did have 2 club doubles champions in the mix for it), and I got to say - just a great stick.
It does everything well. Power when you need it, forgiving flex, amazing slice, even decent spin, and great control. I can see why the pros hang on to this thing.
I thought with how head light it might be that she wouldn't be stable, but she was fine. A nice solid stick.
Still, since she is in pristine condition, and I usually use a Prestige or my Ki10 for doubles, I'll put her aside for the occasional hit.

16x18 pattern seems to be the way to go for agressive all court hitting. That pattern is kind of inconsistent and the launch angle varies only, if you tend brush the ball too much all the time. Rather I would describe the bed as versatile, because you can hit the nastiest spins and angles from the top of the bed in a style which is not possible even with many devoted spin racquets.
Also the inherent spin potential and ”pocketing” and accuracy when you just bomb through the ball flat is the most excellent in keeping the shot above the nettape and inside the lines. Also the powerlevel is sufficiently low for doing so for example compared to RF97, which tends to launch ball flying if pushed too flat or, on the other hand, forced with spin.
And with six one 18x20 you either push the ball flat with caution from the baseline or exaggerate the spin motion to avoid hitting the net.

Going to use these (Classic, K-factor and Candycane) 16x18s as my main racquets.

I absolutely loved the Kfactor 16x18, probably my favorite racquet I never actually switched to. Always regretted getting the KBlade Tour instead (although a great racquet as well, didn't fit my game as well)

This thread deserves to be kept up :)
I started to play tennis seriously in 2002 and my first player's racket was HPS 6.1 95, because of Roger. I did try it for few months until I got me a pair of new released Pro Staff Hyper Carbon Tour 90, that was my main stick up to 2006-2007, when I switched to i.Prestige Mid.
Anyway, I always came back to HPS 6.1 95 from time to time back then, as none of the rackets I tried has similar feel. Pure, raw and direct.
I tried also Classic and nCode versions and for me, Hyper Pro Staff is the one having most direct feel (nCode is softest, and Classic is crispest).
I played only with 18x20 version of Six.One 95
