The best Wristband offerings of all time

Down here in FL wristbands are a necessary evil. I don't really like to wear them, but I have to.

Anyway, what always happens with crap bands after a few uses and washings is that they get stretched out and start to slide down my arm when I am hitting. Super annoying and makes them worthless.

In other words - Avoid Nike dual sided wristbands.

BUT, the nike premier single sided wristbands are absolutely goat tastic. They last forever in terms of not getting loose on your arm after usage and washing. They feel great and are pretty much the best I have used.

They are not as easy to find though, and I would like to see if other brands like Adidas make an equivalent.

So with the Nike premier(there is no double sided premier wristband even though they try and fool you) as the benchmark, what is your GOAT wristband?

I just stick with the Gamma wrist bands. They are $3 for 2 of them down at the local shop near me.

I have some Adidas black/white reversible that are better than the Nike's. They hold their shape better over time. That being said, all wristbands last longer if you wash and air dry; do not dry them in the dryer because that dries out the elasticity in the fabric faster, so they get loose and sag.

It is all about Nike's Premier Doublewide non-reversible wristbands. :)

Besides comfort and looks, once nice thing about these wristbands is their overall thickness. I have fairly large forearms, and some wristbands are too thick and they just look odd on my arm. Nike's premiers are just thick enough to work well, but thin enough to feel like a part of my arm.

I'll post a pic of my Premiers when I get home later this evening!

Cheers!

Premiers are definitely the best, I have several of those too. I tend to wear them sparingly to keep them in good shape since they are hard to get & use other more common ones as the work horses.....the adidas reversible have been the best of that breed for me.

Bri Guy I agree with you so far as well.

And I also agree that you have to just wash and air dry the bands. I never put mine in the dryer..same with my tennis clothes.

Do the Adidas have that nice dry fit feel that the Nike Premiers have? I love how those darn Nikes feel. They are just tough to find.

Do we have to hunt Nike Premiers like we hunted GHOATs?

You changed your avatar after all these years. Perhaps it is time to change mine...

i sweat a lot and it drips down onto my hand and gets my grip really wet and slippery. this makes playing almost impossible. when i serve the crappy wristbands will slide down my hand and make it difficult to play. i have recently tried the prince double wides and found that for the price they are pretty good.

I can't call a particular brand as the top manufacturer, but I think it's important that the wristbands are cotton and not polyester. And they should be large in size, unless you want to change them every five minutes.

This ^.

I bought a couple of packs of the Tourna ones - $2.99 for 2 from right here at TW. They're great > mostly cotton so absorb well and come in white, black, grey, blue.

I want to find some mid-width wristbands - bigger than the Tourna/Gamma ones but smaller than the 5-5.5 inch Nike ones... something like 4 inch would be perfect. Preferably unbranded > Prince make some but I can't bring myself to wear anything with Prince on it.

Bri guy, nice. I have 3 of those you pictured. They are by far the best bands.

How long do the gamma and tourna ones last? My main point here was to find something similar to the premiers.

I used to only wear mostly cotton wristbands, but find the tennis-specific Nike Premiers (which are 95% nylon) absorb even better and retain their softness wash after wash.

btw, loving the collection Bri-Guy :)

It is official :

The Nike Premier Wristbands are the GWOAT until someone proves otherwise.

Now..we track them down like wolves hunting their next meal.

I think I used them and stretched them out pretty fast though. I will try again..I mean $3 is worth a shot.

Basically I made this thread since all my wristbands have gone to crap except the 6 Nike Premiers I have. And they are getting a little long in the tooth, but still work great.

Another great option is the Prokennex double wristband. You can find them at TW's sister site racquetballwarehouse. I have a pair in my racquetball bag that's at least 1 1/2 years old and going strong. But I think you went back to the dark side (Babs) and strayed from the 7g, PP? :)

Yes I did. The 7G is one of my favorite sticks but the roddick is probably my favorite I have ever used. I was going to buy one a year ago, but my wrist was still messed up so I wussed out.

the 7G is awesome. No surprise that PK wristbands are good.

True that Nike reversibles are ****. Mines are usable until like 5 washes. Should have spend my money on the real premiers instead...

I have several pairs of the 2011 US Open Nadal/Fed wristbands and I love them, but explain to me what the difference is between 'premier' and other the nike wristbands on tw. I guess premier is just more durable, and not as accessible for purchase?

I have tried most of the wrist bands out there living and playing in a high humidity area. Yonex are a bit more money but last after hundreds of washes they are still as good as new.

One of the keys is wash and then air dry as mentioned previously.

You meant the single wide or double wide? Are they better than the nike premier double wide/ 1 sided? I may pick up a pair if they are as good as you said. Cheers.

I like a brand called Gogo I got off amazon. Their about 4 inches, pretty thick, and best of all their cheap. I got 6 for less than 9 dollars. I've had them for about 2 years and still in good condition. They also come in a ton of colors.

I am intrigued. These are 100% poly. Excellent.

I don't like them at all. Bought a pair a year or so back and wore the once. Very poor absorbency and slick feeling. They share nothing in common with the single sided tennis premiers.

I was lucky enough to recently get my hands on the "Blue Glow/Sonic Yellow" premier wristbands - they are pictured by Bri-guy above the 2011 US Open set.

I was just wondering, is this color really "Blue Glow"? I thought they looked more like the newer Sonic color or even Neptune.

Ugh, Nike colors are so confusing; there are too many blues!

Does anyone know the Nike product # for these wristbands?

Thanks!

Ok, you just saved me the $7. I appreciate it from a GHOAT herder.

We must be picky about our gear.

I like the Babolat double wides. They never seem to lose their elasticity (wash after wash) and do a tremendous job of soaking copious amounts of moisture.

I hate the Nike New Reversible Wristbands that are made of nylon. They used to make them out of cotton and they were great. However, a couple of years ago, they switched to making them out of nylon. Why? I have no idea. The nylon ones feel terrible and don't feel like they would absorb any sweat at all, whereas, the old cotton ones were very absorbent.

Nike, if you're listening, please go back to making wristbands out of cotton and ditch the nylon. PLEASE!!!!

Found some Nike premier wrist bands at Marshalls. Pretty happy about finding them because my stash was about gone. Black with white swoosh, color code 001

I tried Kimguroos wristband and I was rather impressed. It is very very good. this was after 1 wear. I will update after a while, because the true test is how long they last. But the feel is very premierish.

Also will try some Yonex as well.

Hey Kim, I have a crazy idea and hope that won't think that it's too silly :)

Do you think that it is possible and better to make wristbands contour-shaped and not rectangular? Since everyone forearm only get wider from the wrists up so often times those normal wristbands would only stays in their place tight enough for...one end but not both like they should. So I think it might be useful to have that kind of "molded" wristbands that would theoretically have a longer lifespan.

Cheers.

I think I've seen that shape of wristbands somewhere. Can't remember where it was though ....
I am not sure that the shape makes to extend durability of wristbands.
Usually, fabric worn out first.
Maybe I should try the design ^_^
