The Big 2. The Big 4. The Big 6. The Big 8. The Big 10.

The Big 2: Federer, Nadal
The Big 4: Federer, Nadal, Laver, Sampras
The Big 6: Federer, Nadal, Laver, Sampras, Djokovic, Borg
The Big 8: Federer, Nadal, Laver, Sampras, Djokovic, Borg, Connors, Lendl
The Big 10: Federer, Nadal, Laver, Sampras, Djokovic, Borg, Connors, Lendl, Agassi, McEnroe

The reason why I put Sampras instead of Djokovic in the Big 4 is because he was by far the best & most successful of his era while Djokovic is third in his own era. When we compare champions from different eras we have to take into consideration how dominant they were in their own time.

There is only the Big 3 because they shared an era. Would be ridiculous to talk of Big 2 when Novak has a winning h2h against both players, is about to break the weeks at number 1 record, and as the ATP itself says has won the most Big Titles (don’t tell me that it mixes slams and masters, I know that and so does the ATP). Novak is also one of only 3 players that can say they have the most trophies at one of the slams

after that you can add players but they didn’t share an era and so it’s more of a mishmash

So Sampras is better because he didn't face 2 other ATG's? What kind of logic is that?

Some of you are acting as if I put Djokovic outside the Top 20! I put him at #5 give me a break. How come Borg fans didn’t throw a fit?

And what does the “big 3” have anything to do with this I’m talking about all the time not the current era. Instead of complaining make your own Big 2, Big 4, Big 6, Big 8 and Big 10.

Sampras above Djokovic? Pete never made a final at RG while Novak has the entire Big Title set and the NCYGS.

IMO Laver is the standalone #1, and Ken Rosewall deserves a mention in the top 5. He played the pro tour most of his career and racked up 15 Pro Slams in addition to his 8 Slams (and a Pro CYGS in 1963 just for good measure.)

1. Laver.

...everyone else in the OP's list.
This is the most accurate GOAT assessment so far!

We all know Laver was good, Calendar Slam and all, but when you look at the statistics it's hard to wrap your mind around just how monumental his resume is.
Here are some stats that just look mind boggling:
-Laver won the Calendar Slam 3 times - once as an amateur, once as a pro, and once in the open era. That last Grand Slam was won at age 31. Well past his prime.
- Laver won 200 (yes, you read that right) career titles in singles. The closest anyone has gotten to that since was Jimmy Connors, with 109, barely over half that number. In fact Laver has more titles than Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal combined.
- Laver has the absurd record of winning double digit titles for 7 straight years, 1964-70. Federer has done that 3 times in his career, 2004-06. Djokovic twice, in his record-breaking 2011 and 15 seasons, and Nadal in 05 and 13. Not even close.
- Laver winning 11 Grand Slam titles is the official, well known stat which puts him in the GoAT discussion on its own. But he was banned from 63-68, from age 25-30. He had half his prime taken out and still won 11 Grand Slams. Of course, on the Pro Tour (which only featured 3 Slams, there was no AO for pros) he won 8 Slams, raising his total to 19, putting him right in the same ballpark as the Big 3 - which might be the only area where they beat him.

There is no GOAT race. That title has been on lock for 50 years now. Fedalovic are fighting for consolation prizes.

Probably yet another in a long line of alternate accounts by an obessed Federer fan with three letters as his "official" screen name.

Laver is the one. Until Federer, Nadal and Djokovic win the Grand Slam, they are in the "best of the rest" category. I'm guessing they will never do that.
