The Big 5 on Clay

#1) Zverev (now aka Zedzilla). Roddick like hard court serve numbers on clay along with better than @Djokovic2011 return numbers on clay since the beginning of Munich.

#2) Nadal - The King of Clay, nuff said

#3) Thiem - probably going to find out in the Madrid final that he's been lucky to not face Zverev for over a year.

#4) Coric - played Thiem really well. Has a bigger than Nadal serve game and near Djokovic level return game on clay. Borna's been eclipsed by some physical issues that caused a poor start to clay and a loss to Djokovic. He's back with a vengeance and his Miami prowess (return) has transferred to clay where he nearly beat Thiem in Madrid and destroyed Busta. Coric has a great draw in Rome where he could easily win if he doesn't get stuck with Tsitsipas qualifying as his first match.

#5) Tsistsipas - the best up and coming player clay stats I've seen in a long time, but now Stefanos's stats have been eclipsed by another bullsheet Russian in Zverev.

Its clear to me these are the five best clay courters in 2018 and all five are legit French Open contenders; even Tsitsipas. Zverev gets number 1 ranking on clay because he is more resilient against the other top players. Coric and Tsitsipas need R16 runs in Rome to avoid being two of the most dangerous floaters in RG draw history (well since 32 seeds at least.;))

Tsitsipas barely scraped past Kukushkin in Rome qualifiers in third set tiebreaker.

Coric lost against Djokovic who is struggling to beat guys like Paire,Daniel,Klizan.

Zverev numbers are looking good because he has faced guys like Isner,Mayer, injured Chung, kohlschreiber,Struff,Hanfmann, Shapovalov,Donskoy.

Hopefully Tsitsipas will find his way through.

Coric pulled out of vulturing Istanbul which to me means he was damaged goods against Djokovic. That results is about as bogus as Djoko wiping the floor with Thiem in Rome last year.;) Coric looked amazing against Thiem and PCB in Madrid; he's the real deal this year on clay.:p

Through the magic of gifs I've reversed the meaning. The bullsheet Russians;):
1. Shapo (both parents Russian), but claims to be Canadian
2. Tsitsipas (Russian mother who played tennis for Russia), but Greek ambassador watching him in Portugal
3. Zverev (Born in Germany, but both parents Russian), but Becker watching him.

Good point on Zverev. Has he faced an elite returner/baseliner lately?

No, he did not play Nadal this week. Do you thing Nishikori or Djoko are going to touch his serve, don't make me laugh.o_O Zedzilla thrashed Chung early in Munich.

In my mind this is all about to become a Big 1 everywhere as in Zedzilla, serveboting reign of terror. 74.0% points won on serve over the last two weeks on clay.

If we just look at Madrid its 81.5% serve points won, 41.4% return points, and a mind numbing 59.2% of all points won.

How are Zverev’s numbers off of clay on serve compared to clay? I feel like he is more dominant on serve on clay but haven’t examined the stats.

Which tournament run more dominant—Zverev in Madrid or Nadal in MC?

Don't even have to look at the numbers; Zverev easily because he's much more serve dominant with much better first serve numbers and a higher serve percentage this week.

Just saw the ball toss graphic from the Madrid final and Zedzilla has clearly been working hard with a much tighter loci for the toss.

A guy who has not even made slam second week is the favorite for a tough tournament like RG ?

Let him make the quarters first

What happened to Rublev? He broke through last year and clay is supposed to be his best surface.

edit: Looks like he lost in 3 sets to Thiem in Monte Carlo and didn't play Madrid.

Not after the purple nurple Tsitsi twisters he gets today. The only clay you will remember Coric by will be shattered (like his confidence) terracotta...

Zverev is the most dominant player in clay at the moment. We'll see in Rome who ends up being most dominant heading into RG.

No big 5 in clay. We all know there’s a big 1. Come on, and don’t be stupid.

Too bad Zverev injury prevent him from doing more. Bit worried about his grass preparations now. With Zverev injured and Djokovic mentally AWOL, Thiem has reclaimed his title as the true Prince of clay, and the best chance of bashing the bull on the Parisian dirt. Allez Domi, you can win this if you have the belief!
