The Black Racquet

I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried to change the color of their racquet and how. I have a Yonex RDS 002 Tour and I really don't like the orange color... so is all I have to do is spray paint it? Do I have to get some type of special spray paint? Weird post I know, but just curious...

you'd have to go out and buy a couple of things and the process is no picnic, however it can be done in a couple of days, yeah. search the forum for specifics

well you'd probably have to sand off the paint on it right now, then you'd have to be very careful when airbrushing it so that its even all around. There was a thread soem time ago about someone re-painting an n61. Maybe that can help you.

you're right. I sanded the stock paint off (all the way off) without paint stripper, but I would seriously recommend that you DO use paint stripper. Sanding took a LONG time without it and I think mine would have turned out much "cleaner" if I had used paint stripper. Then just spray paint coats from 12-16 inches away from the racquet, allowing each coat to dry (I only did about 7 coats). I think you'll like the results.

P.S. You'll know you've sanded all the way down when you get down to the carbon. Be VERY careful at this stage because you don't want to damage the carbon. Use the finest sandpaper (finest grade, not finest brand lol) you can find.

I just recently used permanent marker to black out the cream parts of my Dunlop McEnroe and it looks awesome!!
