The Chair Umpire Can Challenge???

In the womens final, the Chair Umpire challenged the call?!?!?

wat is going on, she can do that?

It's a first. I don't think I've ever seen this happen before. Obviously this is going to set a precedent among Umpires, or that Umpire is going to get fired.

That's ****ed up. Serena gets a free challenge. She would have lost, and was clearly trying to challenge. What the **** don't the umps just review it on EVERY close call for, in private? It's absolutely ludicrous.

LISTEN UP--in the 1st set the CHAIR UMPIRE was asked by Jelena Jankovic for a challenge--The chair umpire then said "it was clearly out" and the ball looked like it definately hit the line---did anyone else see this--What is going on here???

I had no clue what happened -

If Serena was throwing a fit... why did she not use one of her challenges? Why did the umpire "donate" her a challenge?

And, after all that BS, the ball was IN...when Serena was trying to say it was out (unless I'm mistaken).

Women seem to poorly represent themselves in the umpire's chair. This isn't going to help.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am challenging the call on the left, far sideline."
