The Championships, Wimbledon 2019!!

The Championships, Wimbledon is the Holy Grail of our wonderful sport, but I feel like it could be more important this year than ever before. I have the feeling that if Roger can win his 9th title there in July it will seal the deal as far as the slam race is concerned. I have been wrong many times before, and I was very wrong with my prediction about Australia this year, but Wimbledon is huge this year for Federer imho! Please include your thoughts and opinions on my feeling about Wimbledon this year.

Nobody's stealing any slams from Djoker this season! LOL Especially 37 years old man...Haha He had his fun time vulturing slams, while Novak had his "vacation" period...but now its time to show, who is boss! Step aside Fedals, we are coming for CYGS this year! Haha

Thanks for the reply and you could very well be spot on with your prediction! It would not surprise me one bit if Djokovic won the Calendar Year Grand Slam in 2019. If he does that, than it will mean he's won 6 straight slams plus the CYGS, and I would have a very hard time not calling him the greatest male tennis player of all time!

Umm...no! Its not 2017 anymore people and Djoker is not choking to the mugs in early rounds anymore! LOL Stop dreaming and get back to Earth...Just to remind you! The last time Federer beat Djoker at grand slam was exactly the Wimbledon semi 2012! 2014 final there between them was admitedly close, but Federer won't ever be able to even bring Djoker to another 5 setter in any of 4 slams, not even his favorite Wimbledon! Just wait and see!
There's plenty of middle ground between "choking to the mugs in early rounds" and a guaranteed spot in the final, which you seem to have him penciled in for already.

Roger might not need to play Novak to win the title, even if they're both in the quarters or semis.

I'm a little baffled to why so many are so gung-ho about Novak winning the CYGS. The most difficult part of the season, clay, has yet to be played and it won't be a walk in the park. At least wait and see how that plays out 1st before everyone gets ahead of themselves.

To answer the OP, Federer has a legitimate shot at Wimbledon if he can find his top form but I have a feeling that this will be his last shot at a Slam. He will need for the stars to align like in 2017 and for him to have a good draw because any really tough draw will decrease his chances. He will be 38 later this year so the fact that we are talking about him being a Wimbledon contender is a victory in itself.

Dreaming? I don't want the guy to win at all. :D But he is not done being a contender at his favorite venues yet. If Djokovic is still in this good form during the next grass season it will be more difficult to win but I fully expect Fed to be at the business end of Wimbledon again...

LOL If the man himself projected it as his goal for 2019 - then mark my words - he'll do it! Djokovic doesn't throw promises around and you know it! Promised to get back to world number one since his major slump, that lasted two entire years - done it! promised to win Cinci title one day - done it! Promised to capture career grand slam by winning RG one day - done! What else am i missing? Maybe only olympics and thats it? Haha...dude believe me, Djokovic is VERY serious about winning not only RG this season, but also all 4! Also...aren't you supposed to be Novak fan or something?...LOL
Well I think Vadja said that that was his wish for Novak and Djokovic's ultimate goal. I haven't heard Djokovic come out and say that. However, how do we not know that this was secretly his goal in years past like in 2015? That was his best chance and then he played a dud of a final at RG. These things happen, and especially have happened at RG, so you have to take that into consideration and not get lost in it all. I am Djokovic's fan but I am also realistic and practical. ;)

Back in 2015 Wawrinka happened! Wawrinka is now not in the shape to stop Djokovic in ANY of the four grand slams! And there is no other "Stanimal" for Djokovic in the tour! Year later - burnout happened and total loss of motivation as a resuolt, thus the loss at the Wimbledon to american servebot! Non of these situations are going to be the factor in 2019, youngsters can't still challenge him properly in 2019 yet and limited names of those, who could are performing poorly, Nadal is vulnurable now like he never was before (And i'm going to bet everything, including my house that it won't be any different even at RG! So he can definitely beat him there now, like he did back in 2015 anyway already!...) and Federer is already choking at early rounds before even getting to quarters! Murray is on the verge of retirement as well...the stars are aligned for Djokovic to capture CYGS this year, like they never were before!

Djokovic "vultured" his only Roland Garros when Nadal was injured and out of form. Show more respect to Federer, whom Djokovic never dominated when he was younger (RG 2011, WB 2012).

I think the most important thing standing against novak on BO5 clay is lack of big hitting....
Surely, crossing paths with nadal is also a big factor..
But can the lack of consistent heavy shots be a reason behind this!??

AO2011, US 2010, US 2011, RG 2012
So Djokovic only dominated younger Federer on hard courts. Djokovic has always been a greater hard court player IMO (but remember how close the USO 2011 was). Federer was leading Djokovic 1-0 at Wimbledon before being 32 and at Roland Garros they were tied (1-1).

Heh, TIL that winning in 5 after being down double match point (twice) is synonymous with dominating.

That would be realistic of you not practical! I am still curious in what sense are you practical?
practical -- (definition) (of an idea, plan, or method) likely to succeed or be effective in real circumstances
(of a person) sensible and realistic in their approach to a situation or problem.

Saying Djokovic will win the CYGS in February is not likely to be correct in real life. Pointing out what has happened before and why the CYGS might not happen is indeed being practical.

Realistic, perhaps, not practical. Cannot be both anyhow :)
