8. Rune
9. Medvedev
10. Shelton

Unseeded players of note:
Perricard (highest unseeded player),
Hurkacz (although he is in doubt after 's-Hertogenbosch withdrawal)
Diallo (Champion in 's-Hertogenbosch)
Monfils (ok he's never done much at Wimbledon but I like him, so I'm listing him here)
RBA (just reached Queens SF)
Bergs (RU in 's-Hertogenbosch)
Fonseca (got his first win on grass at Eastborne; at his age he could easily make a big step at Wimbledon)

Wimbledon draw - Gentlemen's singles (available from Friday June 27)

Alcaraz looking for his third straight title.
Sinner gunning for a first Wimbledon title after his RG heartbreak.
Zverev looking for his first-ever GS title, and first title on grass. Barring that, is first Wimbledon QF!
Draper seeded 4 in his breakthrough season and carries the home hopes.
Djokovic going for #8 and #25.

Lots of great stories. Let the championships begin!

(I'm going to take a risk and open the poll now rather than waiting for the draw, to give people more time to vote. You can change your vote until the tournament begins, in case any seeds withdraw.)

Since 2003, only five men have won at Wimbledon: Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray and Alcaraz. Can someone else break that streak this year? Right now Alcaraz looks like the clear favourite, following his red-hot form on the clay and at Queens, not to mention that he is the two-time defending champion! Djokovic is one of the few who knows how to play really well on grass, and he has played well in the Grand Slams so far this year.

Sinner has to be in the mix as a favourite. No Italian man has ever won the title, and Berrettini was the first to reach the final. Sinner will want to go one better. He has reached 2 QFs and 1 SF in the past three years, and won Halle last year, so he's hardly a poor player on grass. But compared to the other surfaces, he may be more vulnerable.

Of course, we could see someone have a surprise run. As we saw the past two weeks, there are players who can play well on grass, even though they may not be at the top of the rankings. The winners and finalists of the past two weeks are:
Alcaraz/Lehecka - Queens
Bublik/Medvedev - Halle
Fritz/Zverev - Stuttgart
Diallo, Bergs - 's-Hertogenbosch

Diallo and Bergs won't even be seeded; Bublik and Lehecka will be among the #17-32 seeds (=R3 opponents for the top 16 seeds). We could see some interesting matches in the early rounds!

I'm picking Carlos again, with Sinner in the final.

I really hope Carlos gets number 3 and then continues his form for the rest of the year, it's been a decade since we saw a male player win double digit tournaments in a single session (Djokovic was the last in 2015 and Murray came close with 9 in 2016).

Fed won 7 in 2017, and Djokovic also in 2023.

Alcaraz had 6 in 2023. If he wins Wimbledon, he will equal that, and would surely be poised to do better than that.

But probably discussions about reaching double figures should be left until after Wimbledon.

Britain's Jubb is up a set and a break in his first round qualifying match.

Edit

Leading by two sets now, 6-3 6-2.

Edit 2

Oh he won lol. I forgot it was best of 3 :X3:

It’s seemingly a two horse race at this point. Of course given the unpredictable nature of grass courts, it’s at least reasonable to think someone else could break through. Still, I’ll go with the proven commodity in Alcaraz.
Wimbledon has been predictable on the mens side though but then again, every slam for the last 20 years has been. It's either a Big 3 guy, a New Big 2 guy with some peak Murray and Wawrinka sprinkled in for a 3-4 year period. The odds heavily favor Alcaraz or Sinner, it would be a shock if it wasn't one of them.

As much I would love to see Alcaraz 3-Peat, it would be nice to see a young guy break through and crash the party.

The Grigorian Disappointment reached a climax for me last year in Wimbledon, when I was court side with my vino, and he retired after 30 minutes :(

He has retired from 4 slams in a row. The Dimi Slam.
Listen, those trips to the Milanese countryside to drive fast cars with beautiful people don't pay for themselves. Dimitrov could probably sacrifice a lamb on live television and I still wouldn't be able to bring myself to dislike him

Good opening post. Thanks for that.

Hurkacz is out with an ongoing back injury and needs a few months to recover apparently .

Thank you! That's a shame about Hurkacz. I have added him to the withdrawals and removed him from the unseeded players of note. But do you have a source for his withdrawal? I couldn't find one online; this site still shows him being entered:

According to Boodles, Hurkacz is playing there this week? Although their website is a bit rubbish, so I wouldn't necessarily trust them to update it.

Hmmm. I know I read it. I’ll have a dig around.

EDIT: No trace of it now. Maybe someone jumped the gun as they say. I would leave him in for now. Apologies for messing you around.
