The change in Ivanisevic's physique

In the 1992 Wimbledon final Ivanisevic at the age of 20 is like a stick insect, but by his 2001 Wimbledon win he was definitely alot heavier. He put on alot of muscle while remaining lean the way pros tend to do. How did this happen? I have never heard anything about a regime he went through to put muscle on. Did it improve his game? His serve was a lethal weapon even when he was pencil thin.

I mean I'm in my 30's and certainly a lot heavier than I was in my 20's. Even an athlete, your metabolism changes as your get older. You don't burn off what you did in your 20's in your 30's and 40's. I'm guessing Goran hit the gym and did everything he good to convert the weight to muscle. But you can look at a lot of athletes and see that. Tsonga is a great example, he was definitely leaner in his younger days than when he retired.

i was asking myself the same question for a ling time. ivanisevic was superthin in 1992. before the final against agassi they were showing their height/weight, and agassi was much heavier than goran, despite beeing like 5,5 inches shorter.

Agassi was probably about 155-160 in '92. No way was he heavier than Goran. They must have been Alcarazing height and weight back then too.

90% of people or more naturally "thicken" in that ten year span.
Goran didn't put on fat. It was all muscle. I am 6 foot 3 and at 18 was only 11 stone which is a beanpole. Between 18 and 20 I filled out and reached 13 stone and it wasn't fat. I guess the same happened to Goran as he went into his 20s. I didn't realise that men could fill out so late. Maybe he was a late developer physically.

Its amazing what you can do at any age. Look at how actors will gain muscle/shed weight at the drop of a hat even in middle age.

Yes but it doesn't happen when adolescence ends without working for it. My point is Goran must have worked out quite a bit for his frame to change so much, but I have never heard this talked about.

I never said it was fat.

i think a few players were super skinny when they just get on tour : agassi, lendl, sampras .. (all teenagers)

When he was about 16 i stood next to him. He was playing at the U.S. Open Junior tournament. Yes he was upper body lean but his thighs were bigger than average..You could see it those tight short shorts around 1987

I'd compare him to Max Cressy. Cressy's arms could be used as toothpicks while his thigs and calves looks massive compared to his arms

Any actors you know that "bought" their physique?
Are you suggesting that having millions of dollars at your disposal for buying the best quality foods, having top level trainers, chefs, supplements, no need to spend a day at work, etc doesn’t give someone an advantage over an every day working stiff trying to make their mortgage payment?

these actors are being told to put on or lose for millions of dollars. I’m trying to do it on my own will power. There’s a huge difference.

It’s amazing what unlimited money can buy.

4 years ago I lost 52 lbs (237 to 185lbs) in 4 1/2 months with a $25/mo gym membership. Maintained and added some muscle also.

Hard work > $$

I hope you achieve your fitness goals...you can do whatever you set your mind to.
