Optional:
* You enjoy beating players that flaunt expensive racquets
* You use friction fighters and the like to make your strings last to the end (stringing gets expensive)
* You know where all the free and cheap courts are in your city
* You use balls until they don't bounce above the knee anymore. Even then those can be used for practice serves

I use the following racquets:
Dunlop m-Fil 400 ($40)
Dunlop Aerogel Smoke ($50, $70)
Dunlop Aerogel 300 ($50, $70)
Head Microgel Radical MP ($70)

We are open for membership and look for the proud, the frugal, and the skillful men and women to add to our prestigious club.

Despite your racquets costing under $100, most of them are still top-notch and cost less now because of racquet companies' "updates". Since most of the recent updates offer little to no noticable advantages (IMO), more people should take the route you have taken.

Cool idea---unfortunately, I am unable to join :)

Here are the basic parameters for membership:

* Your main racquets cost $100 or less
* You are baffled by people like j0llyr0ger who has 27 tour racquets (j0lly's cool though ;)
* You enjoy beating players that have expensive racquets
* You play with simple attire
* You'd rather buy 2 good pairs of shoes for under $100 than go all out for one pair (they're all made in China or Indonesia anyways)

I use the following racquets:
Dunlop m-Fil 200 Plus ($80)
Wilson nTour 95 ($80)
Gamma Ipex 5.0 MP ($60)
Dunlop Super Revelation 95 ($50)

We are open for membership and look for the proud, the frugal, and the skillful men and women to add to our prestigious club.

Point number 3 makes this a spiteful club. Suggestion: change or remove? Also I cannot qualify for this club since I am not spiteful of people who has exp racquets :(

I match most the above criteria, except for the racket. Now, the Redondo is one of the cheapest current top range racket available. Would I still be eligible for a membership in the CPC?

Racket: PK Redondo - $118 (that's what I got it for)
Attire: Pyjamas (I'm serious!)
Shoes: Some on-sale Addidas - $40
Strings: Anything decent and low cost.
Court fee: Anywhere not exceeding $6 per hour (night time with lights)
Balls: Dunlop Fort - $4.5 per can (in BKK)

That's it.

I can modify the third requirement. Though I played a guy in December that called his nBlade da sh|t while I won 6-0 and I wasn't even trying. :)

Now the midgets are gonna come after you cause you purposely made it so that they can never join this club unless they play with busted balls. And even then, what if they only sold Dunlop Forts balls in their area? They might not be able to join the club EVER. Poor them!

How'd you get the Big Ace reel for only $55?

I Love it! This is -so- me.

I can't remember how much I paid for my racquets. Two of them were purchased in 1985 and then the third I picked up for $50 in 1989 after Wilson retired it. I play with the Jack Kramer Staff graphite.
http://www.woodtennis.com/sampras/KramerSTVstaff1.jpg

I can't imgaine having/needing more than 3.

My attire never matches and my headbands are made from old t-shirts. very old school. very cool. very looked down upon!

I always buy shoes when I see them on sale- must be at least 50 percent off- and I keep extras in the closet.

I generally play at the high school or municipal junior college except for a league that I have to pay for, but it includes a can of balls each week!

I would be honored to be included in the CPC.

The most I've ever spent on a racquet is $120.
I usually wear polyester shirts you can find at Walmart for like $10.
I wear shorts you can find for $10-15.
I will not spend more than $50-60 for a pair of shoes.
I am not stingy about court costs because it is too difficult to find free/inexpensive courts in the winter, but where I live its easy to find free courts in the warm months.

I wouldn't say I'm a cheap person, its just that I'm not interested in clothes or equipment so why would I want to buy expensive gear when my interests are elsewhere? I will spend alot of money going out to eat at restaurants and court fees when playing alot of winter tennis.

I'm a cheap bas#**** too because I also cut my over grip in half so as not waste the other half. I also put all of my sweat bands in a mesh bag for washing and then use rubber bands when they become too loose to extend their life further!

I like all the cheap talking points except dead balls. Old balls take more effort to hit to speed, allow my oversize opponents to put more balls in, and cause more painful shock in my wrist and shoulder. I'll take a fresh can of Dunlop balls on sale for just 1.50 any day, and discard them into my training hopper after a couple of uses. Cheap but new.

count me in i use out dated players frames and spend no more than 25 bucks for a pair of spalding or champion shoes at payless:).
also my clothes are $4 addias climate shorts and a $6 addias climate tank top(i know how to bargin shop)

I'm always up for a bargain.

I use Wilson PS85s (Taiwanese ~$100, China ~$130) or Dunlop HM200gs ($60 on sale).

Nike shoes on discount (~$30-$40).

Generic T-shirts and shorts.

Only two racquets, and they're both of the LM Radical mold.
I use a grocery bag to hold my tennis balls when going to the court.

2 Babolat APD - One I traded for, the other I bought used for $70. I have 2 pairs of Reebok Match Day Pumps that I got for $45 and I buy the C9 stuff from Target, am I in?

My latest sweat pants cost me $3 and they have pockets and are pull-apart. I often play with T-shirts and cheap shorts. I wear a cheap, but good ankle brace and also carry balls in grocery bags.

I am in...K90 $120, K95 $100, m-fil 200 $50, pro tour 280 $65...all sticks are new and yes i am cheap :)
Also, string reels: gosen polylon $30, AG international red $18. Fila vantagio shoes $30.

Oh this club is definitely for me. I love playing around with racquets, but I shop the auction sites and wait for good racquets to end on low prices on flukes. I have 2 ProStaff Classics and 2 Slazenger Pro Braided Henman's . . . I spent $80 total on the 4 of them.

I'll play outside when it's 20 degrees, but I won't pay $20/hour for courts. Oh, and I string my own racquets . . . much cheaper that way. Wilson Enduro Pro and Gosen Micro all the way.

12 members and growing! :)

Can I join?

Prince NXG MidPlus---never paid more than $60 for one.
TF 515 strings---$11.
Cheapest Nikes I can find.
T-shirts and old shorts for attire.
Zero to $5/hr for court time.
Don't have cable or satellite TV---just borrow matches on dvd.
Tap water on changeovers.

I think I qualify....

Definitely in on this.

$30 Flexpoint Instinct.
Use Forten Nylon 16g.
Don't own real tennis shoes (I wear my running shoes.)
Never paid for court time in my life.

* You use balls until they don't bounce above the knee anymore. Even then those can be used for practice serves

balls that don't bounce well = easy ace! lol

i'm in

racquets:

ps 85 $80
ti s6 $70

EDIT:

also i wear reg sneakers. plain clothes or go shirtless (cause i'm sexy like that lol). and i usually play on my school's courts.

I'm a bit better than you and proud of it :)

I still use the racquet I first bought just to have it for tennis. My uncle gave me an old one in good condition which I don't see anything wrong with. But I treat my physique decently with appropriate tennis apparrels and shoes though, and they still only cost tens of dollars. Don't see anything different between a $15 polyester polo and a $40 nike one (oh yeah you got that nike mark!). :)

Seriously, I'm happy to see a lot of cheap players on this board. It's more fun talking to ordinary people than to snobs. ;)

Humble begins...suit me up.

I get racquet that are discontiued or heavily dicounted. AG200 with $60 off retail!!

Go the dunlop volleys...thikn of using those chinese black and white slippers as a playaround. Saw a guy use it looked heaps cool!!

YOU CAN BE CHEAP AND PLAY GOOD!
4.5 BABY!!!

I'd liked to join...

I remember beating a guy that had a KSix-One Team in doubles...

Damn, I was pumped!!!

Though, for basic #3, I do have a Yonex shirt that I got from my trip to the Philippines...

My qualifications:

1. Main stick: Radical Trisys 260 OS, sniped at $32 + shipping on the bay, another 'Tour' version for $60 shipped.

2. Stringer: Tyger Pocket Pro, scored for $100 or so on the bay.

3. String: PSG gold, $3.75 a job (too bad no reels available.)

4. I play on highschool courts for free except winter, day or night (some are lighted on weekdays till 11:00p in rich neighborhood...thanks for big tax payers.)

5. For winter time (long and cold where I live), I reserve an indoor court 9:00p or after at discount rate, pay for 1 hour (up front) and sneak playing till a court sweeper kicks me out after 11:00p. And I'm not even a member there (sorry)!

6. I buy Gateraid powder to mix my own drink.

7. I'm thinking about a pressure chamber to prolong ball life/ restore flat balls....I got an air compressor. Anyone with ideas?

8. Rubber band dampener, what else!

9. Started flipping around the tornagrip. Not sure about this though...

10. Love to outhit Babolat players on groundies.

Can I join?

EDIT:

Forgot to mention...when I saw someone's post here about $0.02 strings on some online stores (due to some web error), I rushed there to snag the very last 5 sets of PSGD for $0.10 plus $5 shipping. It was for real and fun.

we should ALL (unless sponsored and getting them free) be using clearance frames. Dunlop has some nice players frames that are crazy cheap at TW and Head has some great LM series frames all for under 70 bucks!!!

And people that buy current season Nike just have too much money!
I am currently browsing Nike Spring of 2007 clothes and I STILL can't
afford them!

(i did get complimented on my clearance Nike Cage shoes though.. by a VERY hot gal, so those were totally worth the dough! woo)

OOPS.. I think I have to be taken out of the cheapskates club.. I bought a Fancy Yonex pro bag that was pricey.

Nice that we have so much in common. Lots of cool ways of being cheap and having fun here..haha I updated the list and we're at 30 members. But more importantly we're having fun being here.

Count me in:

-For clothes I just cut 3 holes in a garbage bag and pull it over my head.
-I use a Barbie racquet that I found in a dumpster
-I use two different sizes and models of shoes, both left feet
-I hand string my racquet with fishing line by looping the line around my foot and then pushing down on a scale until it hits 60 pounds.
-For balls I just use a bunch of antenna balls that I got for free from a 76 station.

And the list goes on...
