Go rub noses with your colleagues in that "other" thread.

I think í've found my club!

Racquet: Dunlop HM200G (bought 3 secondhand for €50 total)
Shoes: Ascics Gel Resolution (bought them new, never used online for €40)
Short: Adidas (online ********** €10)
Balls: My tennisclub provides balls for its members to play with, how cheap is that!

I guess i'm in?

I am afraid I won't make it, though, but what matters is the net cash flow. How about selling old balls to the pushers in your club? In my club the pushers love to bring dead balls to club matches, and I always wondered whether there was not a business opportunity there....

Do I belong?

Dunlop Aerogel 100 X 3: $75 brand new for each

Shoes: Nike Breathe Free II, Vapor IV, Cage I and Air Zoom Oscillate each pair $40

Forten Sweet syn gut: $2.99

My newest additions, 2 x Head Microgel Raptors strung with Head syn gut 16 @ 57lbs including string service for $100 CAD. Yes I complained earlier but it was a legitimate one. I am truly happy now.

Racquet: Volkl DNX4 $99, used backup $60
Bags: Volkl Team 3 racket and Prince camo 12 racket, each $20
Strings: TNT2, Gosen OG SM, Genesis Spin-X (sample), Volkl Cyclone
Shoes: Nike T-Lite Leather 4E $24.99 (Nike Outlet)
Clothes: Air Jordan Basketball shorts $20 and Nike Dryfit shirt $20 both from Nike outlet.
Balls: Clearance balls from wal mart or target. (under $2)

So am I in?

Golf is a different story and a different sport. ;)

Racquet- Head Arthur Ashe Comp 1 bought in 1974 for $80
Bag - Don't need one it came with a cover
Strings- Whatever I had put in about 25 years ago
Shoes- $28 at Wal-Mart baby
Clothes- Sorry old shorts and several $5 T-shirts
Balls - I bought a case at Costco after I used up the 4-5 new cans from the 90's I still had on the shelve.

With credentials like these I think I should be an officer, or al least an elder statesman.

Racquets: Volkl DNX10 and a Head Radical, I got them both for $25 each. Oh also a Wilson Impact racquet from Walmart for less than $15 or something like that (for wall practice, so I don't scuff the others up.).
Shoes: anything I can get under $40.
Attire: T-shirt and shorts get from Walmart.
Tennis Balls: Wilson or Penn for $1.85 per can at Walmart.
Tennis Bag: the sling bag I got for $9.95
Over grip: Tourna grip or Wilson $3.95 or $2.95.

LOL
What shoes at Walmart, the Dr. Scholl's ones? I was checking those out.

Racquet: LM Rad OS (2) One is cracked, but too cheap to replace it.:) (Probably would sell for $30 in the condition)
Shoes: Barricade (Wait, but the bottm is ripped and I can feel my toes touch the court)
Customization: Too cheap to buy lead tape so I use magnetic tape and coins.

Do I qualify?

Edit: I forgot.. the balls I use are random balls I pick up on the park that others have thrown away because they're too flat.

I got a 2nd Prince AirO Lightning today. Got it off the 'bay for $25. Looks like the racquet was used just once. Almost new. New costs $50. Woohoo!

Hey You're good. Yes I got the Dr. Scholl's ones with the puss pockets in the heels. Now I don't feel they wear particulary long but being almost the weight (278lb) of 2 normal sized tennis players I really like the cushioning. Oddly enough I just noticed yesterday that my right heel is eating away at the gel while the left seems untouched. These are the second set of these shoes I've owned and really feel they are feet friendly.

Yeah!

Great place to make may debut post on TW!

I'm not cheap but I just love cheap stuff. If I can pay less for what ppl have payed more I'm happy!

Let's see..

My currents racquets are (prices converted to US dollars):
Dunlop Comp 98 - 2º hand around 45.00
Babolat NS Tour - Brand new on sale for 90.00
Fischer Black Granite - Brand New on sale for 180.00 (uhh pricy...but mind you that the original price here in Brazil with all the import taxes was 300.00!)

My shoe is actually a Wilson for badminton and it was 25.00 on sale also. Very good on Clay.

Bag is a Babolat Thermo for 12 raqs, got 2º hand for 60.00

Clothing is from department stores also on sale.
Basically I'll buy/wear anything on sale that looks not half bad.

Balls (now I'm embarrassed..) Nassau ones for 3.00 a 3 balls can. They suck so bad..

Cheap enough for ya? :)

Today I played with the Prince Airo Lightning and won 6-3 6-4. Played a 2nd match and used the Dunlop m-Fil 400. Won that pro set 8-5.

I served well with both racquets, but I made more winners with the Dunlop as well as fewer UEs. The Prince was really good at BH slicing. One ace I hit with the Dunlop was so sweet I wanted to drool.

I should upgrade the strings on the Prince, but it's usable for now. Bargain racquets rule!

Is your account here on TW from your kids too?

just kidding.. ;)

Sports Authority lowered the price of that Dunlop Aerogel 200 Plus (that 9oz stick) to $80 and had some Wilson 6.1 Comp racquets on sale. I think it's slightly head heavy and it weights 10.8oz strung. I wonder if anybody has tried that racquet out.

I had to get my AG Smoke and m-Fil 400 restrung. While I was looking for string, I noticed the Head Microgel Radical MP on sale for $70. Seeing that I don't usually spend on Black Friday, I went for it.

Got to test it out today. It does a pretty good job on volleys. I don't think I get as much pop on serves as with the 400 or Smoke. I can generate spin off either wing, but the ball tends to drive more (no surprise as it's an open pattern stick). It feels stable, it's balanced, weighs only 11oz strung, and it's got good control. When I hit the sweetspot, it felt pretty good. Head finally made a stick I'm somewhat impressed by.

2x Head MG Radical Pro MP - $70 each bought it used
wilson fantom shoes for $25 online
nike shorts $5
generic fruit of bloom white t-shirt $1?
prince 6pac tennis bag $20
Penn tennis balls 8 cans for $13 after 20% coupon off retail in sports authority

I can still buy Dunlop m-Fil 400's for $40. I guess that will remain my default racquet. The 'bay has the Aerogel 300 for $50 used, there's an Adidas Barricade racquet going for $85, and I'm still getting used to the Head Microgel Radical MP I got for $70.

I'm a racquet *****, but at least I can still sniff out cheap prices. LOL

Snagged a used AG 300 for $50 off the 'bay today.

I'll likely be donating the Head Liquidmetal Radical OS I got for free, the Gamma iPex 5.0MP, the Dunlop Roland Garros Racing and Tempo 100, the Prince Air-O Lightning (crack at head from mishit), an nTour 95. Thank goodness for writing off donations... hehe Already donated 3 racquets this year.

That still leaves me with 6 m-Fil 400, 2 AG Smoke, 1 Head Microgel Radical MP, 1 Prince Air-O Steam, 1 AG 300 on the way. LOL If only I could juggle women as well... sigh

I really need a girlfriend.... I already ordered the AG300, but I see someone is selling a used Head LM Radical MP for $50. Tomorrow my stockpile of racquets decreases by 6, with one used racquet being added on in a week.

Must resist buying racquets... until the new year, at least. HELP!

Count me in except I like to use fresh balls most of the time but I get them from my buddy who owns a shop for $2.50 cash, Prince Tour

2x Wilson HPS 6.1, got 1 at a garage sale with broken strings in 9.5/10 for $4 and the second one was given to me recently in exchange for stringing 2 racquets.

Total for Racquets = $4 and 2 hours time
Gosen Sheep Micro Strings = $1.81 per full job strung myself on $7 garage sale Eagnas Star in Mint condition
Rubberband Dampeners = courtesy United States Postal Service freshly delivered daily
Adidas Shorts and Random shirts from Target = $10-$20
Wilson Prostaff Sneakers bought from TW recently = $59

Sport Chalet had a $20 off sale on Black Friday, so I snatched one. I've seen some decent prices off the 'bay.

I'll update the list later. You're in. Congrats!

Moocher Dad

My favorite is the dad who mooches off his kids. Hey dad, you eatin' off your kids' plates too?

I think i qualify

Rackets: 2 ksix-teams (i dunno if that counts cuz they just became under 130 but i've had them for like over 3 and a half years.
Shoes: Some asics i got for like 50 bucks or so. They're pretty comfy though!
Clothes: Shorts with pockets and the first T-shirt i see

If people want to spend lots of money on fancy equipment i don't mind, hell i might be switching racquets soon (i've been trying to get it to last with lead but there's only so much i can do reallY). But there's no need for people to brag about it.
Am I in?

Update - two MegaAge M2 rackets (PSC 6.1 clones) for £27.81 ($45) total. Need to add cost of leather grip, about £8 per racket, for better picture.

Cheap equipment is for ****ty players.......

Cheap equipment does not mean ****ty players. Beside bargain hunting gets you topnotch equipment for little money. Like me. Got a pair of blue/white cb1.3 for $70?and worn Them out in 6 monthes so I got a 120 voucher and with that I bought a new pair of vapors for $68 and a match worthy shirt and a rf hat

I went to Sport Chalet to get some racquets restrung. While I was there I saw they still had a few Prince Ti Light racquets. The first time I saw it was a month ago and I was almost tempted to buy one. 100 sq in, looks sturdy, and sells for $30. I see it on Amazon and it can be had for $20. I gave a girl a Prince Air Flash ($50) back in July and I was tempted to keep it for myself because it swung surprisingly well. Bargain hunting continues...

My current racquet is an 80's Prince Graphite Comp 110 bought for $4.99 of the classifieds.

My other racquets are:

1. Wilson Sting Largehead w/o PWS ($9.99)
2. Head Liquidmetal 4.5 ($ 60).
3. Head Titanium 3100 ($50).

Am I in?

Update:

True frugality lies ahead. I want to start playing Futures tournaments, so I'm really doubling down- selling my racquet collection (many of which are in close to new condition), saving the money I get from my job, etc. I'm still a teenager, so minimum wage means I have to be cheap.

Apparel:

Fruit of the Loom Crew Shirts (3 for $10)
Fruit of the Loom Shorts (3 for $8)
Fruit of the Loom Socks (3 pairs for $6)
Avia Cross-Training Shoes (1 pair for $18, lasts me as long as tennis-specific shoes and are comfortable so what the heck, why not use them?)

Equipment:

10 MegaAge M1 frames (got them at a bulk discount deal for about $10 a frame)

Ashaway Kevlar Mains at 48 lbs of tension, Ashaway Liberty (Tournament Nylon) Crosses at 50 lbs of tension (cheap- under $5 a set, nylon crosses because I only need something to soften up the kevlar, and durable- only have to restring once every two weeks or so)

I also string for myself- using a Mutual Power Hercules 690 dropweight that's portable and efficient.
