The contact point of the backhand slice

I would like to clarify, where is the contact point of the backhand slice.

I have found an useful, old thread about backhand slice:

,,Slice, anyone.

High balls, under with side.
Chest high balls, under
Low balls, under with OTHER side."

That helped me a lot by high and low balls, but if I do slice only under the ball and do not slice the side of the ball, the ball floats away in high trajektory.

Thanks for any advice

Typically a slice will float too much when we go out too far forward to make contact. If you try a slow-motion slice without hitting a ball, watch how the racquet face opens up as it moves forward. It can be hard to resist going out after the ball (out in front) for a slice, especially when hitting a slower incoming shot, but a real biting slice with some drive is easier to produce with a contact point that's a bit further back, perhaps around your leading shoulder.

Depends what grip you're using.
Strong SW, almost unigrip, you hit out front by at least a foot, sometimes more, for an effective low biting slice.
Weak conti grip, contact point is closer to your hip, not in front, and sometimes slightly behind your lead hip.

I feel that I get the most control, and the lowest trajectory (without floating) on slice when I think of hitting across the ball, rather than forward through the ball. That also gives some sideways spin to it.
