The Cult of PT57

I think it was a racket made for a department store in Europe.

Ah ok …. My guess is that it’s a lite tour 630 (green/black) with a different paint job… 300g strung, head heavy and 1 or maybe 2mm wider than the PT630

I love it, it’s my favorite racquet. I play my best tennis with that stick. I string it with gut/alu power 25,5/24,5kg
I must admit I also love that racket - slightly higher stiffness, great ball pocketing. A friend of mine - tested variant non-CAP grommet setups, but they were never as good as original CAP one.

Is this bumblebee PT57? The barcode says 25181005. What does 10/46 mean?

BTW, will PT 2.0 grommets, TK82 pallets and bc TK102 fit together on this racket?

IIRC, my bumblebee said tk57 on the hairpin in place of what says 10/46. I don't know what that means. TK82 pallets will fit on that. You might be able to still use that red insert. Grommets I have a good feeling that it is the same. Mine had such a high SW with regular grommets I can't imagine with caps

If I'm wrong I'm sure @dr325i will send down lightning

The TK82 pallets will fit, however, the red dampeners will not with the TK82 pallets (not designed for the dampeners). Older pallets (TK57 or 76) had provisions for the dampeners, new ones don't

They do not. With L3 pallets the feeling is similar to the anatomic handle in table tennis - L3 in the ends, L4 in the middle. :)

that's right. i remember wondering what to do with the inserts so I just saved them with the pallet i removed

Is it possible to identify a PT57A without checking the sticker on the hairpin? I bough one recently and would like to ensure it is a genuine one.

Isn’t the extended grommet channel and the throat of the racquet usually things to look for in a PT57A? There are probably more qualified people on this forum who can give you more specific information.

Anyone know what molds can have a pt57?
There was a 98sq in racket.

I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't just the pro tour/radicals.

Maybe you can look at the different racquets Murray tested before settling back onto his PT57A to see what different molds the PT57A layup can go into. So like, 339, 334 are fair game for your question. PT313 and those true 95" frankenmolds, too, maybe.

I just found one thread that was going over it. (Might have been before murray started playtesting)playwriting. I suspect there was some confusion with the person I am talking to between the advertised 98 sq in and the true ~95 sq inch.

What static weights and swing weights to folks prefer their PT57a at? I have one at ~358g and two at ~365g and I feel like I have trouble getting depth. One is strung with Alu / Gut, another I recently strung with Confidential at 44 / 40 (though it didn't really have time to settle in). I'm considering removing the silicone from the unmatched one, but haven't quite worked up the nerve to do it.

Removing silicone is generally a real pain to do.

Removing the silicone is not an easy thing, however, removing it partially is doable.

What I suspect your bigger problem is a high SW, limiting your racket head speed and control of depth. At 360g, that thing has a lot of lead under the CAP

I believe the swing weight of the IG Prestige is 335, while total weight is 353. I'll confirm once my Briffidi shows up as my previous measurement was using the TW DIY measurement method.

With regards to the lead under the bumper - what's the best way to get replacement grommets should I decide to start stripping down the frame and need to replace?

Are you talking about the IG Prestige MP or the PT57A on the grommets. I got them for my IG Prestiges several years ago from TW Europe. I don't know if they fit the PT57A. It's possible that they have grommets specifically for the PT57A. I don't know of any other sources for old grommets.
