The dark horses of USO 2012

Nadal is out of the tournament. Old man Federer is slowing down. Murray may brain cramp. Djokovic is no where near 2011 form. USO 2012 is up for grabs. Who are the dark horses? I am picking Nikolai Davydenko to win it all.

Old man Federer is the number 1 player in the world and won the most recent grand slam, beating the 2 best players behind him on the way, not even needing 5 sets to beat either of them...

I don't really believe in dark horses right now, nobody else other the the main 3 will win. If I were to pick anybody it would be Raonic, but I don't honestly believe he has what it takes to get deep into the 2nd week.

DelPo and Tsonga probably. I don't see anyone else winning a slam and beating Murray, Djokovic and Fed on the way.

Maybe Ferrer or Isner could do some damage as well...

I'm just not seeing it...Djoker, Fed, and Murray still dominate with relative ease. Delpo and Tsonga are still on the outside looking in (have yet to show consistent brilliance this year in 3 set tournaments).

I would love to see someone else step up, but in a best of 5 major?...not buying it.

Step forward Brian Baker the savior of american tennis to cause the biggest upset in tennis history... or the man in my avatar.

Raonic lol. How can anyone believe he has a chance to win the whole thing?

Outside the top-3 guys only Delpo and Tsonga have a chance to maybe make it to the final.

Roddick is in no shape to do any damage.

Crowd support will help him lose a tough 4 setter instead of a straigh sets whipping.

As for the rest of the Americans, i'd pick Isner to go the furthest. Fish's serving % isn't high enough. They both need a generous amount of free points to get thru a match.

As big of a Haas fan as I am, I need to see the draw first. He could easily go down to Stepanek/Clilic/Kohlschriber early or he can make a deep run.

in terms of fight, weapons, fitness, and mental strength. I'd pick Tsonga. While delpo has the major, Tsongs has made a lot of deep consistent runs at majors the last few years.

I dont' know if Murray will 'brain cramp'. Right now is his best chance and he has every reason to be confident. Nadal is one of his worst match ups and he beat Djok and Fed easily in London. Surely Del Potro is in with a shout after the olympics, he's geting back into it. Would love to see Tsonga and Ferrer do something too.

The furthest Ferrer will make it is to the semifinals, where he will lose to either Federer or Djokovic.
