This scene where Joker is torturing his victim is director by Heath himself, he wrote it and filmed it and directed it. It was then played to the actors for the first time, and what you see is their real first reaction to the scene that he filmed, so it captured a genuinely real, well, real as it gets, reaction to what Heath was doing.

The way he says "look at me"...awesome stuff.

Batman Begins is my favorite of the three, as well as one of my most favorite films ever.

People complain that the fights were disorienting but the one at the containers actually worked for me since it captured the chaos of being the first to be attacked by Batman very well.

The fights in TDK and TDKR being easier to follow actually served to show the deficiency in Bale’s fighting if anything.

Loved Batfleck’s warehouse fight for that very reason—Batfleck actually fights like how Batman should fight.

pros: putting your trust in billionaires to pause their police state and private spy network excesses

cons: never got to see that gyllenhaal gash

7/10

Chris Nolan is like a film genius. I haven't seen any movie yet of his that I didn't like, but the finale in this trilogy is goat. Yes I said it. :happydevil::alien:

Lol it's def not a bad movie. I think Anne Hathaway ruins it a bit for me. Nolan's music and the darkness he brought to it all is great. The Joker and Two Face were just done so perfectly it was hard to top

Anne Hathaway actually surprised me. She was one of the best catwoman's I've seen on film, behind Pfeiffer of course. I thought her and Bane were amazing, and Miranda Tate made me despise her so she did what she was supposed to do. I liked Dark Knight too and was my second favorite film of his.

She has a very hateable face and demeanor lol. Couldn't stand her in Inception. I would have been like it's cool, go ahead and jump :p

Agreed; I liked that first full Batman scene, it played out somewhat like a horror film. I've only seen a few select bits of that rendition of Batman, his fighting is awesome, and I do wish the fighting in the trilogy was more 'fantastical' like other superhero fight sequences.

For me it's:
TDK, 9
Begins, 8.5
Rises, 8

TDK was sooo fast and I love that about it. Right from the first frame it just explodes.
Begins is a perfect piece in and of itself.
Rises was strong too and the ambiguous ending is very fitting. Believe what you like.

Of course the movie itself was highly influenced by Heat. Nolan is a massive fanboy of Heat, in fact he is such a massive fan of the movie, he even interviews the key players of the movie here. The Dark Knight is basically Heat, but with De Niro and Pacino being replaced with Batman and The Joker.

I can see the coffee shop scene in the prison scene. For sure.
The main inspiration from Heat was the soundtrack and the pace and the nature of the face off between these 2 main characters.
The same way Booby and Al meet in the restaurant half way through the movie, Batman and Jo meet at the interrogation scene. And then they don't see eachother throughout the movie until the very end.

The tension created through that tick tick progressive music is another one of the biggest inspirations.
The lighting of the cities matched a lot too.
You would have noticed how the parts of Gotham shown in BB were very different from the Gotham in TDK in terms of look.
BB was in dark alleys like most Batman movies are. Batman was still a character in BB that never used to come out in the open so it fit. Joker dragged him out in TDK.

Dark Knight was in dimly lit places with yellow, blue and white lights. That's very much like Heat.

And lastly the realistic shooting scenes were inspired too. Heat has even better gun firing than TDK.
This shooting scene below is generally considered one of the most if not the most realistic shootout scene ever along with some scenes in the Thin Red Line.

Fascinating., (y)
Waingro is pretty much the Joker. Yes, still no love for Waingro. Despicable bleep.

You just reminded me of this (hilarious) clip of Reginald D Hunter on Batman:

Yep, I watched it 3 times in theaters. 3 freaking times, I NEVER DO THAT. I just loved the chaos Joker brought, he stole every scene.

I have to look for my picture in a batman costume (pre-tdk lol). It didn't fit me well but I SLAYED.
