This may be IMO the future Fedal classic, as Del Potro is always rising in the rankings while Djoko is not really having any tough competition (except maybe Murray) in the upcoming years.

Only Murray can interferer there but who is really interested in that boring matchup anyway?

In the last 6 seasons they faced only 9 times, Djokovic leading the
H2H 7-2.

After defeating Djoko in the olympics, I knew it was gonna be the most interesting matchup for the coming years, as it seems quite balanced when Delpo is in good shape.
What do you guys think? Who will lead the H2H once they retire?

Not convinced that this will be as close a matchup as you're hoping for. Also don't agree that Murray-Nole is a boring matchup.

Extremely unlikely that Del Potro will ever beat Djokovic in a slam final. Murray has already done that, at the US Open. Boring or not, they are the 2 best performed players of the last 2 slams. Del Potro is not made for a 2 week best-of-5-set event.

Your very mistaken anyone who saw their matches at shanghai and AO 2012 would disagree if you still disagree you don't know tennis.

Djokovic easily absorbs Delpo pace.....I don't see it as a close rivalry.....but I do see Delpo getting wins when Djokovic is off form like in the Olympics and injured like in the Davis Cup match.

Murray HAS already interfered (beat Djokovic in 1 Slam final and 3 Masters finals) and plenty of us are really interested in their match-up!

Djokovic has always had a positive H2H against both players and that will probably stay that way but his H2H v Del Potro will almost certainly continue to far exceed that against Murray.

Considering how close Murray was to leading 2 sets to love at the Australian Open, I wouldn't be surprised if Murray rules the Djokovic matchup in future. Beat him at the US Open, and probably would have beaten him at the Australian Open if the semi vs Federer wasn't so tiresome. But, Murray has lost 4 slam meetings in a row to Nadal (WIM 2010, RG 2011, WIM 2011, USO 2011), so just reaching a slam final will not be easy. The biggest mental barrier within the 4 big names is between Murray and Nadal, easily. But its only become that way recently.

OMG, in AO 2012 Nole eliminated Muzza after the same tiresome semifinal and then still able to beat ******* in 6 hours. Where does your theory come from?

Djokovic is a machine, with greater stamina than any man in the history of tennis, by far. Murray is just human. No human is in a good position after playing a marathon semi.

Even Nadal in 2009 looked slower than usual in the final vs Federer. He won, but he was clearly struggling due to that Verdasco semi.

And when you think about it, it doesn't make much sense that Djokovic needed 6 hours to beat Nadal in the 2012 AO final. I mean, its Djokovic's best surface, and Nadal's worst. Nadal has traditionally struggled at the AO more than any other slam (his body fell apart in 2010 and 2011 AOs). So one would be right to conclude that Djokovic came so close to losing the final because of the marathon semi vs Murray.

The WTF match was a good one. Juan Martin showed that he has the potential to beat Djoko. We know that Juan Martin has the potential to beat everyone, that he has the potential to be a number one. But between potential and achievement their is a long way...

Anyway I would rather have Delpovic rivalry or Delray rivalry that Murovic rivalry. I'm not very interested in Murray-Djokovic matches (although they had some great one in term of story line).

This type of thread is indicative of a poster with too much time on their hands with nothing much to say but to make ridiculous threads such as these. This type of thing is usually a trait of a ******* judging by the threads in operation.

Maybe on grass. Although on that surface Fed/Murray or Fed Nadal is more interesting. On clay, the best current rivalry is Nadal/Djoko. On hard: Djoko/Murray and Djoko/Fed. So far, neither Berd nor Delpo has presented much of a challenge to Novak on hard. The Djoko/Delpo ones offers the better tennis though (of the 2).

Except for the fact that in your original post, you completely wrote of Nadal as a future threat to Djoker (only mentioning Murray), when he's back, and playing as consistent as he ever was on all surfaces.

Nadal and Djoker will be the main rivalry in tennis for the next two years, imo. Del Potro still needs to show consistency by making the semis and finals of slams regularly like the rest of the "Big 4". I have my doubts that he can do this. He's a "hot/streaky" player that can beat anyone when he's on, but I don't think he'll ever be consistent enough to be the main challenger to the very top guys.
