The Dominic Thieminator Thread

Well the issue is I'm not the only one affected. The posting rate has dropped tremendously since the title change. This thread title is the kiss of death as the previous version also failed.;):

As Thiem is fighting to stay in the top ten, the original title is still quite appropriate and far more catchy and creative. @Rozroz change it back to your original great name.

The Blind Hog and I greatly enjoy are little battles, but we digress and its not good for this thread.
damn, after i begged the Mods to change it??
they'll kick me out of this place!

We'll should we call off the election or keep it going? This is a dictatorship, but we're at least getting posts.:D We coud just wait and see how it goes. Not sure when Thiem will return. Its Cabos! Bamos! on hold.

Well, Thiem cooled of alittle since the 2nd half of 2016. He is still having a great climb this year. Next year he will be defending a lot of points early in the 2017 season.

He really didn't cool off. He's iced with an injury.

Thiem's race points and rankings points are identical. He need defend nothing and he'll still be ranked around 12 coming into Australia. So many prime vulturing opportunities are passing, Hamburg, Rogers cup, and now possibly the Real Slam.

Not playing Cabos is a real blow as he needed that tournament to get into form playing lower ranked players.

Tidbits:
"Dominic has long been doing the hip hurt," revealed the 55-year-old. "During training you go relatively well, when driven off the lot, it is also gone yet, in the match then, unfortunately not. He can not jump with the left leg, not serve and not yielding to pressure. "
"His tournament planning to Wimbledon was almost perfect, the people do not understand."
Günter Bresnik
""I also said that one should not fly to Toronto - but if one does not listen, then he must feel" that taught Bresnik his protégé now on the "Austria Press Agency - APA" very clearly from. "For me it was quite clear. I know that this is a two- or three-day trip. "Criticism of the tournament so far planning, this keeps the Star coach one hand for misses, but probably was the need for adaptations given. "The tournament schedule was excellent, so it is now in the top ten. Only you have to adjust the then accordingly, if one is in the top ten. For me personally, the tournament schedule to Paris would already have developed very differently ", known Bresnik - without going into this in detail. "If someone wants to do something wrong, then you can keep him from not."
Bresnik does not like Thiem's current schedule and plans through Paris. Bresnik did know of the severity of the hip injury until Tuesday the week of Roger's Cup.

My gut on this is Thiem will not do well at Cincy Masters if he shows. This apparently does affect his serve and probably explains some of Thiem's physical flakiness like at Halle SF after a day off with a walkover.

@Lord Anomander @yharzu ,
Is one of you able to read this and give a clearer understanding? (Reply yes if you can and edit post so we don't duplicate efforts.)

@Meles I'll use my awesome Dutch high school German skills for you, but that's just the top one

-Gibberish about how many walkovers and retierments he gave and received
- The hip has been hurting for a while, literally 'longer time'
- Can't jump or serve or push with that leg
- Thiem didn't say anything about the injury until yesterday (when was this interview), he somehow had kept it a secret
- They don't know yet, ow bad it is, Bresnik seems to think it's not that bad, though it will take a while to figure out, they hope it's not something that will be an on and off problem
- Thiem will first undergo medical checkups before further decisions are made
- Thiem will undergo an MRI scan, and they'll let multiple doctors look at it.
- They don't know yet what the effect will be on the plans for the coming weeks. They'll probably know more in one or 2 days

Books are now being written about Thiem and he will play the Real Slam! (Cincy)

The rusty-jointed T1000 ThiemDomi started sluggishly, especially on serve but seems better as the match progresses, 7-5 2-0 vs Millman. His 1st serve was at 26% late in the first set but it's now up to 47% and five aces.

ThiemDomi bakes a breadstick for run-of-the-Millman 5&1. Could have been a bagel but he got sloppy on one of his own service games. Needs to clean that up or Professor Gurufils will perhaps teach him a costly lesson, provided the educator doesn't get bagged by the Cypriot.

Thiem vs Monfils. If that happens, please put them on a court with no back fence. I want to see how far from the court you can be and still play tennis points

Monfils withdrew, Thiem through to the QF. Raonic plays Sugita in that quarter today. Seemingly Thiem-Raonic has never happened before so will be interesting if it gets to it!

When you're in such bad shape, there's an Iron Maiden song about you

I've seen the ghosts of Thieminators but they are lost
As they sail into London, they'll count the cost
As I walk onto the court, a champion to be
But the journeymen of old, they're wrecking me
Haha. You found the thread. Thiem looks like a lock for WTF, but doesn't deserve.

Apparently, his relationship with his gf is over. I knew it was a bad idea to date a girl before settling at the very top ;)

I think indoor isn't his strongest "surface" anyways and he was sick/injured too often to get any kind of form (but a bad one). I saw him live in Vienna, but he destroyed G. Melzer (or Melzer rather destroyed himself) and I couldn't get a grasp of how good he really is :p Jürgen Melzer definitely stole the show that day when defeating Bautista Agut in remarkable manner.

Seriously what is going on with him? He doesn't play the power/precision tennis he was playing earlier this summer.

Anyone knows if he's sick or hurt? He plays like a top40 right now... It seems like he's out of London, this sucks.

BerdBrain must beat Muzziah today or Tsonga must win Bercy for the official Thiemination of what seemed an absolute lock on a WTF spot.

While it would be a happy reward for him to get to London, Dominic might be better served to use the time off to better prepare himself mentally for 2017.

Oh ok, and I don't see Berdych besting Murray.
