The Donald is on to round 2! I can't believe he spanked Klizan like that. If he keeps this up, watch out Nadal.

Sure, Klizan played bad. But, DY still deserves credit. 2nd round of a Slam at this point is a pretty big deal.

Does Romeo believe Klizan should also be banned from the tour?

I might agree with PseudoFed getting the ax. That was pathetic!

The Donald is a much better player in terms of talent so no Klizan should not be banned!

DY did great for a change at a Major! Sorry to doubt DY! If he can get to third round he gets $100K! That more then DY has made in many years on the tour!

I didn't realize people got murdered that badly in slams. Let alone by Young :O. Was Klizan playing that badly?

Hah, sorry can't give DY that much credit, Klisan couldnt buy a backhand OR a first serve. I've never seen Klizan play, but all I could think was, "this guy is a professional? WTF?"

You guys, I am confused. Is the Donald even playing right now? If he's Nole's 2R opponent - and assuming of course the weather cooperates - he won't play till tomorrow, will he?

Or is this just early speculating?

DY is hitting multiple high 120 mph serves. I sensed a change even in his game and the commentator (ex pro) is talking about Young's racquet change. Thoughts, comments?

By the way, the commentator (Jensen i think) DID comment that he has sensed a slight change in the Donald's game sense the change too. And he admitted it was a big risk to change at this point in time but it is paying off dividends.

Well, it looked like DY had that set in the bag, then he let it slip away. That game where he was broken, ugh...

    1 set for Mayer.

Yes Don was looking strong then got a bit loose with his play and started overhitting a tad.

His fastest so far was 132mph. Lisicki must be passing on some tips on big serving.

And the second set too. I saw DY was up a break, I left to go get lunch, I come back and he's lost the second set.

The Donald is out. I guess we can conclude he is never going to live up to the hype he once had. I wonder if he is making enough money on tour to actually live a decent life from playing professional tennis.

When was the last time anyone was hyping Young? He had to play the qualies to get into the main draw.

He's already pulled over $60K, not counting the Open. While not making top 10 coin, I am sure being doing slight better than the local teaching pro. And at 24 he has about 8 years left.

Was at DoYo's match. Nice to see someone chipping and charging, though he needs to be more careful in picking his approach shot. Nice to see the crowd 100% behind him. Missed the first set so I didn't see any serves in the 120s, but he was routinely at 105-108 on first serves. All in all, A decent showing.

Winning one more round would have been HUGE. When you get down to the 100s and 200s (and lower), the rankings are so tight. One big tournament can rocket a player up the rankings. Third round doesn't sound that incredible, but those 45 (I think) extra points (2nd Rnd 45, 3rd Rnd 90?) would have got him another 15-20 places in the rankings.

What I want to know, is if the Don or any other player is ranked 141, and they are willing to travel anywhere in the world and play on any surface, are there any ATP 250s where they could get direct entry into the main draw? If I remember correctly, there seems to be a few opportunities during the fall season.

Two edge sword! If you win a couple of rounds; you only get a few point since it a 250 event. But if you loose; you get dropped in the rankings too!

Don't want to start off like a Caroline Wozniacki by going to a lot of tournaments and accumulating points and then not do well in the majors.

But DY has really nothing to loose so I would go to as many tournaments that I could given the travel expenses. You want to hit tournaments that are nearby. Don't want to go to like Asia or EU that cost a fortune to go there and afterward like win $2,000!

I think it is the best 14 results in the past 12 months. After a one year period, players may have points to defend, but you don't lose points for winning.

At the ranking level where Donald is now, the match play is far more about accumulating ranking points than it is about money. He should have plenty of money to play wherever he can get some ranking points.

If DY can win or be a finalist at Napa and a couple of more Challengers; he could be in the main draw in the upcoming tournaments leading up to the Australia Open 2014! I think the ranking you have to have is around the mid 130s to be main draw. Then all DY has to do is get in the 120s and he in the main in the AO too!
