Not that anyone cares, but Medina/Ruano won yesterday the women's doubles for second year running, which will probably be the last because Vivi is almost 36 and will probably retire soon with a whopping 10 GS doubles titles (and 6 runner-ups) in her purse. Kudos to the Spanish gurlz!

Edit: add one mixed-doubles GS for Vivi Ruano too, for the sake of completeness.

O.K. doubles fans. Note that at Halle there is only one team in the quarters that does not include a regular singles player. That leads me to believe that there is a good shot of a singles player getting the crown. That would be nice.

Kiefer/Zverev vs. Djokovic/Troicki. Boy, would I like to see that. Zverev is a master at the net. Troicki is pretty darn good. Have never seen the others play doubles.

hi, LT! :)
to tell you the truth, i got the news from your post. i really wish there was a doubles website, instead of having to dig through all the singles news.

strange weather here today: cool, gray and cloudy. goes along with the latest nevada barr novel i'm reading: bit disappointing with pages and pages of the description of a canoing party rescuing a starving cow from up along the banks of the rio grande! :???:

Kiefer and Zverev should play a lot more doubles together, they're a great team. Did really well in the world team championship thingy and absolutely obliterated Djokovic/Troicki today at Halle.

Yeah, I've seen Zverev play with Youzhny a few times and he's pretty good. Also saw Kiefer play doubles with Berdych and he's a great doubles player too. He used a lot of variety when I saw him.

Kiefer is not ranked very high in doubles, #140, but has 3 titles. Zverev, on the other hand, is ranked #45 in singles and #44 in doubles, and, at age 21 already has 2 titles.

Here is a note of interest. In Halle Kohlschreiber plays Haas in the semis and then they play against each other in the doubles semis. I suspect there may be some sharp hitting at the net in the doubles. Hmmm?

yay kubot/marach win!!!

... so since it wasn't on stream anywhere that i could find, i looked at the match stats. interesting. this certainly is a team that finds a way to win, aren't they! :D Less total points, fewer break points converted . . . interesting.

Too bad for Kubot/Marach fans. I personally haven't seen them play much but Im a big Youzhny fan so I hope he takes the title tomorrow.
I am a Youzhny fan too and Kohleschreiber. He is in the finals at Halle.
i'm still in shock from both kubot and marach having DF in their final service games  ... but i'll root for youzhny too in the finals ... have either of you seen his dubs team play? ... the brazilians w/b a tuff contest.

thx for the news about kohli :) he m/b taking his singles loss hard, having won the first set ... but i'm glad he has another chance to win at halle....

I actually haven't seen Youzhny play doubles, I did watch the Brazilian duo practice at IW though and they're really good.

Moodie/Youzhny take it 10-6! Youzhny's unbeaten streak in doubles finals is still alive, at least for the last few finals, I'm not sure what his overall record is in doubles finals.

Awesome week, Murray, Haas, Youzhny and Kohlschreiber all win titles!:) Plus Wawrinka has taken the first set in his Challenger final against Starace.

congratulations to all your faves! :D
is moodie youzhny's usual dubs partner? theyre obviously the real deal with the halle title against the practiced team from brazil!

and, of course, i'm happy for the germans winning both the singles (haas) and doubles (kohlschreiber/kas) at home! :)

This is actually Moodie and Youzhny's first time playing doubles together. Youzhny won like two titles with Zverev before this and I think one with Kohlschreiber.

Youzhny has had 9 different partners over the past year. Played only once with 8 of them and 8 times with Zverev. They won Halle last year but this year Youzhny played Queens.
