Zeballos is no slouch either. Before Grunthollers teamed up with him, he had made RG’13 SF with Cuevas, temporarily uniting Uruguay with Argentina. Wicked lefty ohbh!Time to resurrect The Doubles Thread for the AO, no?
Pegula was a top seed in each of the three draws she entered; now she's still in it with Coco Gauff in the women's doubles. Next up is a semifinal against the Japanese 10th-seeded pairing of Aoyama and Shibahara, who to my shame I had never heard of! The latter have not faces any seeds so far, while Pegula and Gauff saw off the 11th seeds 6-1 6-1. Likely final opponent for the winner is the Czech pairing of Krejcikova-Siniakova.
In the men's doubles, we have again a surprise Australian pairing reaching the semis: wild cards Hijikata and Kubler. Their opponents Granollers and Zeballos are the only seeds (#8) remaining. Of course Granollers is an experienced doubles player. But the Aussies just beat the #1 seeds Koolhof & Skupski - can they go all the way?
In the mixed doubles finals, I am rooting for the Indian veterans Mirza and Bopanna (36 & 42 years old) against the Brazilian pairing of Stefani and Matos, who are a combined 26 years younger than them.
Apart from the women's doubles, where the two top-seeded teams made the SF, the top 2 seeds were out of all other competitions by the SF stage. In fact, the only one that made it even to the QF were Koolhof-Skupski in the Men's Doubles.
Yes! I just want to see a dropshot from Hijikata. A rinky dink. The après-match interview of the winners begged for a nickname for the Ozzies pair; my nomination would be Rinky Tikki Kubie.

Except when losing. Usually quite quiet. Not much emotion. Dbls... bit of a surprise because is not his focus. You can tell Rinky played college tennis. Dude is super vocal on court.
Implies there's a third in this pairing (there might be!), anyways how bout... Ice Rink & the Ice Kube. The après-match interview of the winners begged for a nickname for the Ozzies pair; my nomination would be Rinky Tikki Kubie.
Kipling is the party guilty of including three words to describe the chattering of the heroic mongoose in his children’s story. Had he known Rinky and Kubie would ascend unexpectedly to big success together maybe he drops one third of the chatter from the mongoose. I’m just adapting his prose.Except when losing. Usually quite quiet. Not much emotion. Dbls... bit of a surprise because is not his focus.
Kube's(!) got super smooth silky volleys at net, again a bit of a surprise.

Since this is... THE dbls thread... Wimbledon 2023 to reduce dbls now to best of three sets only... unsure if third is superTB or just regular???
Pressure, as they are playing for final and forI know these are some of the best doubles players in the world, but it's amazing to see the number of bad errors they make!

I'm always confused when I see the numbers.
Does the team share that money or does each player of the team get that amount?
the championship point was epic!
pretty sturdy limb you picked.I’m going on a limb and pick BK/KS to win the next match in straights.
