Djokovic on later today against the guys who took out the Bryans. That will be a real test.

and here's an update of that match....
into the super tiebreak .....

Thanks for setting this thread up. I go to Miami every year, the only live pro event I get to and I watch way more doubles than I do singles. I saw Bryan/Bryan vs Karlovic/Vemic point blank and it was just fantastic. I love doubles and appreciate seeing other posters that do too. I pray every week that Tennis Channel will show some doubles, but at best they simply show the final or maybe a semi. I'll keep hoping...Take care all.

I end up watching doubles 50% of the time. And it can be interesting to watch players who are not name stars but in singles, their play would be terrible.

And how about this? :)
The new (sadly because of JMonaco wrist problem) pairing of JM del Potro with Maximo Gonzalez ~~~> they won today, defeating Piccari/Seppi 62, 63.

Troicki-Zimonjic lead the ARAG doubles classification

24n1nid.jpg

Serbia’s doubles Viktor Troicki and Nenad Zimonjic are heading the doubles classification prior to the last round robin matches at the ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP at the Duesseldorf Rochusclub. Zimonjic the current number one in the doubles world rankings, and Troicki are still undefeated after two matches. The German doubles Nicolas Kiefer and Mischa Zverev closely follow with also two wins and just one game less won.

__________ ETA:

isn't this the same team that beat the spaniards in davis cup in madrid? was it serbia's only win against the spanish DC team?

as sometimes happens in these team situations, participation in the finals depends on what happens in the doubles ... today:)

http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showpost.php?p=3452218&postcount=59

__________ ETA:

"Nenad Zimonjic and Viktor Troicki captured the deciding point in the doubles match against Italy (2-1) and thus made it to final of the ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP 2009. They defeated Andreas Seppi and Francesco Piccari 6-0, 7-6. The 32-year old experienced player, Nenad Zimonjic, who is the current No. 1 of the doubles world ranking, and Viktor Troicki captured three victories in three matches and will thus receive € 18,400 in addition to the “ordinary” prize money. By winning the finals, they could even add another € 8,000.

It is Serbia’s first time at the ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP, making it straight to the final. Only Yugoslavia (1990) and Croatia (1995) succeeded in doing so with Yugoslavia winning the final, whereas Croatia lost the final tie."

Watched Fed play doubles in the Olympics and his topspin backhand return was a killer!! Never seen anything like it!
Please don't tell me that was live! I love good doubles. Zverev looked very good with Kiefer today as they beat Zimonjic/Troicki. But I guess it didn't mean much for the Serbs as they had already clinched the title.

Talk about longevity......

Yes, he retired from singles last year to focus on doubles. Since then he only plays the singles draw as a warmup for the doubles. In april this year, it turned out to be the other way around as he won the challenger in Mexico city in singles but not in doubles!

sort of the same story with Christophe Rochus, who wanted to retire last year and since then he has found the best form of his carreer climbing to number 65 I think. Today Rochus and Norman face each other in the doubles tournament.

Go Belgium!

Some good matches today. I'm pulling for Dlouhy. He often gets into the singles and has been ranked in the top 100. Slipped a bit but his doubles ranking went up. Now #7.

Dick has done it!!!

Dick Norman has reached the final of the men's double in his first year on the double's tour, alongside the South-African Moody!
At the age of 38, that is pretty impressive!

Well done Dick!

it sure helps that his partner is a wall at the net :)
However, both of them have much weaker serves compared to the bryan bros, and nenad/nestor.

ps.. they made the finals over nenad/nestor

I know they did. These days I like tennis as a spectator sport and what I enjoy are the individual participants. Thats what makes the game interesting for me, not just rooting for the winner.

I always tune in to watch Paes.
His quick hands at net, acrobatic volleys, brave poaching are fun to watch. too bad the rest of his game sucks (in comparison atleast) :)

is it on NBC?
