The Dunlop Aerogel 4D 200 comes in two forms... the standard 18x20 and the 16x19 a.k.a. "TEAM"

If you use any of the two or better still, if you own/use both, then this is your thread.

We all know of how this is such a great racket but there's always something in between that can make it perform even better. It might be just as simple as choosing the proper string and dialing it in to complements your style or to heavy customization such as lead applications or alterations or just want to give praise to this wonderful stick or even some short brief reviews and how it transformed your level of playing a notch higher or some helpful tips or just ask questions about your 4D 200...

Let us hear it... let's hear some amazing stories!

Oh yeah... don't forget to post some photos of your 4D 200 or you with your 4D 200 (if you don't mind) :)

AG4D 200 16x19 TEAM (before the AG4D200 I was using m-fil 200plus 16x19). The reason I skipped the non 4D AG is because there wasn't anything that really shined on the non 4D to make upgrade. The AG4D 200 16x19 on the other hand is racket technology you can really feel.

Here are some images (pardon the image quality camera phone was used):

ir0-ed,
How would you compare the new sticks to the m-fil 200 plus? I have been thinking of demoing the 300 tour since it's the same mold as the 200 plus, but I have also contemplated waiting for the 200 16x19 to come out as well.

ir0-ed what you think of this X-One Biphase?
I would test it on my racket and the same racket as we could have an idea of the result.

The m-fil200 plus is a very good stick once you get the hang of it with more than slight issues on stability due to it's lighter weight construction. Unlike the m-fil, the 4D on the other hand felt natural the very first time. The weight difference between the two was also noticeable on hand and in play. The heft on the 4D translated into a very stable and consistent racket. Feel on the 4D is just amazing and though it felt like it has a larger sweet spot than the m-fil. I also felt more pop on 95sq. in. 4D than the 98sq. in. m-fil which were very usable. The spin production was more pronounced on the 4D too. On serves, 4D was more explosive on flats. Slice and kicks was where I was trying to adjust but by the time I got the hang of it everything was a breeze.

I once demoed the NON 4D but not too crazy about replacing my m-fils. The 4D on the other hand was excitement at first hit. It's been a while since I've experienced new technology at work and it reflected well on the aerogel 4Ds... a definite leap from the m-fil.

I haven't tried them on my AG4D200. I only used biphase on my redondo c 93 when I developed tennis elbow. I must say, it is by far the best multi... definitely plays closer to gut... period.

ir0-ed, Great review. I am going to finish out the summer leagues, and hopefully by then I can find a demo of the 16x19. You got me excited to try it as opposed to the 300 tour.

Just took this stick for a demo and am pretty sure I will be switching to this soon. I only got to use the 18x20 and I really liked it. The main reason I loved it so much is because it felt really light (the specs lie, I demo'd a kblade tour as well which is supposed to be lighter with a lighter sw too and this felt WAY lighter) yet was very stable.

I'm wondering though, I really like to slice and my forehand can hit some nice topspin, would I maybe like the 16x19 version more? I can't find any but I'm very curious as to the difference between the two versions. If anybody could shed some light it would be fantastic, thanks.

Here is a great advice to choose between 16x19 and 18x20 :)

You can hit the most wicked topspin, you can hit the ball 100mph, it won't do you a lick of good if you are dropping them into the service box. (Assuming we all know that I am not talking about angle winners, drop shots, and other shots hit short to facilitate winning a point.) Your racquet should allow you to hit the ball deep and when I say deep, I mean beyond the service line at the minimum, preferably in the back third of the court. You should be able to hit deep AT WILL AND WITHOUT EFFORT in all types of baseline rallying. If your balls are landing short, you need more power, you can get it from weight, string, stiffness, headsize, wherever you choose, but get it from somewhere.

J011yroger said:
If the ball you are hitting is too spinny and landing short or sitting up then try something with a denser pattern, if your ball is flying long because you are not getting enough bite on it for your current stroke to keep it in, then try a more open pattern.

Spin comes from the player, but the pattern allows you to do what you are already capable of, or it amplifies or mutes what you already have.

, I test this string on my racket. I like more of poly rope.

For those looking for the AG 4D 200 16x19, I know a webstore that sells it at a fair price. It's not in the US though.

Any questions, e-mail me at dadozen AT gmail DOT com.

Man those AG 4D 200 16x19 are gorgeous!!!! Why isn't TW selling them yet?!?!?!?!?!
I'm also baffled why they're not carryin it. There isn't a 4D 100 and the least they could do is offer all the options available for the 4D... AG4D200 16x19 to be specific.

I did bought mine online somewhere in Ohio at standard 4D selling price with free shipping

Can anyone give a comparison of the MGPP to the AG4D200 16x19? Or the 16x19 to the AG4D200 18x20.

Thanks
I didn't have the pleasure to test the AG4D200 and the MGPP together but I did have a chance to demo the MGPP and AG4D300 16x19. No doubt the MGPP is a good hitting racket but I ended up always picking up the AG4D300 during pickup matches all thru that 1 week demo program, dunlop feel was just amazing. Even with the lighter AG4D300 I didn't have problems going toe to toe on the baseline and sure enough being light, racket speed and court mobility including at the net was a breeze.

Few days after returning those demos, I finally found an online shop that has a demo program for the AG4D200 16x19... the rest was history after the first hit with the AG4D200 16x19 :) Only thing that I had to adjust was serving with it.

Biphase is good but its a little slick. If you don't catch it dead center and really drive it, it has a tendancy to roll. Now, once it's broken in, the slickness wears off and it's good.

I've just switched to the 4d 200 TEAM from the AG100. It was a difficult decision.
right now I am using MSV HEX 1.10 at 60x58.
I might try a little higher or maybe use 1.18 in the crosses.
I have leather grip and some lead at 3-9 o'clock.
I am still experimenting to find the perfect setup.
This stick is sweet. I never enjoyed my 1HBH like now.
I am waiting for my second frame to be delivered today.
Thank you for starting this thread.

^^ Nice pics. That blue tape you're using at the top of the handle -- what is it and where did you get it? Thanks.

I have an AG200 16X19. I hit with a 4D 200 for the first time yesterday (18X20, TW demo) and was very impressed with its stability and solid feel. So I'm imagining that the 4D 200 16X19 would be a very nice hit. Too bad a 4 3/8 grip won't work for me.

^^^ home Depot. They have a package with 5 rolls (1/2 inch) of different colors (white, blue, red, yellow, green).
I think is ~$3.50.
Mostly I use white and blue for my racquets.

Can't blame you on your feelings about the AG100, it's a very nice racket but the AG4D200 Team isn't a push over too, I know you'll be happy with it.
I'm also in the process of changing the grips on mine with leather. Do update us on how those leads go.
About the Focus Hex 1.18, it performs best when strung no more than 55 on the mains and not lower than 50 in the cross on 93-98sq. in. heads. Try it at 55/53 and see how it goes before switching gauges.
I also hit a 1HBH and it definitely hits more solid and way better pace than my m-fil 200plus.

^^ Hey thanks. It's electrical tape, right?

Beautiful work, btw.
thank you Keifers
yes it's electrical tape. It's the only 1/2 inch that you can find at home depot. And it only comes in a box with 5 assorted color rolls.
I wish I could buy only the white and the blue.

Got some today, gflyer. GB brand. This was the only 1/2 inch electrical tape. All the rest were 3/4".

Thanks for the info. Cheers.

brief review on 4D 200 TEAM (16x19) compared to AG100

These is a brief review trying to highlight differences/similarities with the AG100.

I'll plan to post a more in-depth review one after I'll try different setups.
I was looking for something very similar to the AG100 playability, but just a little more "forgiveness". And I thought that the 4d 200 16x19 was the best candidate.

At the beginning I didn't like it too much, because I was playing it "stock" and so I couldn't find the same solid feel of my AG100.

So I decided to customize to bring the spcs as close as possible to my 100.
So I added a leather grip and lead at 3-9 oclock.
For some reason the 200 felt a little more head-light and so I added a little extra lead at 3-9 (~14gr total) compared the the amount I have on my 100.
Final weight is ~348gr and balance ~8.5HL.
Well with this setup the frame was better then I expected.
Playability is very similar to the 100 but has some interesting differences.
First quite more pop. But the interesting thing is that the extra pop doesn't seem to affect the control too much. But some adjustment was necessary.
But after I adjusted the ball seem to explode from the stringbed and land inside the baseline.
But my strokes now carry a combination of pace and spin that I didn't have before.
Of course the stability is great, given the head size and also the added weight. Moreover the sweetspot seems huge. I am enjoying my 1HBH as never before.
Having an injury on my posterior deltoid I cannot serve full speed so I cannot give in-depth feedback.
In general my impression is that slice and kick are at least as good as with the 100.
Flat serves require little adjustment for the extra pop.
Moreover I am still working on my "perfect" customization and string/string tension. So far I've only tried MSV HEX 1.10 @ 60x58.

I hope it helps.

Very nice report, gflyer. I'm looking forward to reading more as you customize further.

Can you comment on the feel of the 16X19 (with its 4D construction) compared with the 100? Does the 4D feel more solid on impact or are they about the same (serves, groundies, volleys, drop shots)?

Count me in!

Just got my 4D 16x19 last week... Strung with Pro Hurricane Tour 16 @ 57lbs... Hit with it twice, the first one was not too good since i need to get used to new racquet and full poly... but after a while.. second hit was awesome... Love Dunlop!

Don't mind Cross Court. He's got serious issues and probably be 8 yrs old... so ignore him.

Okay.:)

I figured he was just an idiot, but I didn't want to say anything until I was sure. Anyway my AG200 4d team arrives tomorrow. Can't wait. I'm hoping I can customize it to play like the 18x20 with just a little more spin and power. That would be perfect.

I really want to have a Dunlop Aerogel 200 4D 16x19. Too bad, it's still not available in the Philippines. The only available 4Ds are Aerogel 300 4D 16x19 (which is too light for me) and the Aerogel 200 4D 18x20.

The thread is called the ag 4d 200 user group but all the talk is about the girly 16x19 model :)

Where are the real men that play the 18x20 model? Do they hang out somewhere else?

Another 8 years old...
If you are interested in the 18x20, just ask questions in the proper way and some real men will answer you.
If you are just trolling please leave. We don't need you here.
And btw, if you measure your virility with your racquet...you have a big problem, trust me.
thanks.

When I was still hunting for the AG4D200 16x19, before a store in Ohio carried them, I did see one on *bay and guess what? Seller was from the Philippines.

I did have the chance to demo the AG4D300 16x19 my quick thoughts here.
With it's lighter weight, I was ripping full western forehands with breeze but hitting deep takes me an extra effort. With leads on 3&9 while keeping the head balance, I'll be hard pressed not to find these in my bag. BUT the AG4D300 16x19 took me in with heavier penetrating shots. I could hit well paced short balls and unload bombs deep into the opponent's baseline to take easy points at will.

I see you have the M-Fil200Plus. Also used those before I switched to 4D200.

Here's mine btw :)
aDSC00219.jpg

The M-Fil200Plus frame has been carried on to the AG4D300T... same mold but overall made even better. I think you should give the 4D300T a try. Spin is rather easy for a close string pattern but not close to what my 4D200 open string pattern does. Great control over spin on my 16x19 did not hinder me from turning it into a killer control stick

I know you said that with best intention (really hope you do) but nothing girly about Dunlop player stick with open string pattern. In fact, I love how they make the mains in the middle tight and just widen a bit on the side.

About the 18x20 200... it just so happen that the AG4D300T is a darn sweet stick and clearly eclipsed the AG4D200 18x20. If the 4D300 16x19 uses the same frame as the 4D300T... it just might be the sticks that'll find it's way in my bag.
