The Earth Mightiest season of 2021!

From GOAT contender to very possibly the GOAT.

Djokovic failed to become the undisputed GOAT when he failed to win the Grand Slam.

It is what it is.
but he has still accomplished the most in OE tennis! so he's GOAT anyway. fed, rafa or sampras have never even come halfway to GS (never won the AO.RG combo) and they have never, unlike nole, owned all 4 slams at the same time! he has become GOAT already after he won RG this year!

There’s a lot of propaganda on here from a certain fanbase, but I have to give credit where credit is due.

That Roland Garros SF was an epic viewing experience and a completely improbable Slam win all things considered. Especially with RG 2020 in the rear view mirror. I think no matter what else occurred, the year was his with that win. I saw what I saw, and no amount of damage control can erase how crazy that match was to watch live. One of the last hurrahs of the Big 3 era and possibly the last big match between the 3 GOATs.

Makes me wonder what makes him so resilient. We've seen him recover well before but the reaction at this season's Majors after how the previous one ended for him was something else. And for me personally, any mistakes he made at the lolympics and US Open were fine, just because he treated us to the stunning clay party crash before that.

Was this tweeted before he choked in Tokyo and New York?

He somehow managed to lose the hardcourt goathood.
exactly how did he do it? who has a better CV at HC and at all? Nobody!

he was HC GOAT even before AO and became THE GOAT already after RG this year. AO and wimbledon just nailed his GOAThood on HC and at all! who else has accomplished more than him in OE at HC and otherwise?

Nadal was injured and it was littered with unforced errors. Also ended up meaning little eventually after Djokovic blew his undisputed Goathood claim.
best match of the year was Zverev v Djokovic at Uso

Despite it being a 3 slam year it was a very disapointing season for Djokovic a bit like McEnroe 1984 still haumts Mcenroe. He had his chance to become undisputed Goat with the Uso and from a personal pov if hr had won Tokyo even. To blow both chances is really disappointing for him. No way he deep down will see 2021 as a great year due to the anti climax. Mcenroe in his book and in commentary has repeatedly said for all the brilliance of 1984 he remembers that year for his FO loss which still hurts to this day.
Still he deserves credit for a fantastic year of course and for being by far the best player this year and now being in the Goat debate which he was never really in before this year. That is how he should look at it as well.

I do think the actual quality was overblown especially in the 2nd set but they really went to battle in that 3rd set. This is what I mean by propaganda.

Nadal was not 100% physically nor was he in a dominant clay form, like, say, RG 2020. However he still went up 5-0 in games and looked to be pretty strong at the beginning. So when did this injury occur? The only visible thing was the MTO after Nadal went 2-0 up in the 4th set, and after that the injury took the shine off.

but I really do not believe Rafa was injured in the first 3 sets. Playing through a little pain, and not in his best shape, of course, but still it is a compliment to Nadal that he fought the way he did in that 3rd set. Unless of course you’re saying that Rafa somehow got hurt at 5-0?

put it this way I was just as impressed with Nadal’s fightback as I was with Djoko’s. If he wasn’t 100% he was giving it all he had mentally which made the match a highly competitive, electric affair.

It truly was. And the world is now a better place for it.

Records were set, historic milestones were met, you don't think he is taking it all....take the bet.

It is well documented and scientifically proven that nadal never lost a single match when healthy!!

I think you were better off not “pointing” anything out…
How about you go and have your EMW cheering threads in a dedicated Only fans thread? That way you won't have to put up with people pointing out certain things. I promise to leave any fan threads alone!

Django just needed a little more "tension relief" from his EMW devotees, amigo :X3:

I am still happy about the US Open to prolong the 20-20-20 poetry
For me the USO final more than makes up for the RG SF.
More than!

He got injured at 5-1 in first set. There was a moment he visibly pulled up then after that he was grimacig throughout. The foot was a problem all event. Every match he started well then let the opponent back in. Against Swartzmann he was done and just went into ultra aggressive mode and luckily everythig went in.
He was obviously on painkillers that were effective for about an hour then wore off. Even had he beat Djokovic he was not even going to manage to play the final. He gambled playig FO and it cost him his season. But anyone thinking Nadal was anywhere near healthy v Djokovic must not have watched the match.
Whether that injury is career ending we will find out soon i guess

No doubt he wasn’t at his best, as we all know he best Nadal pretty much always wins. But honestly the serve was more of an issue than his movement to my eye at least, either way I felt his 3rd set level was improved from the Sinner and Gasquet matches anyways.

All I’m saying here is if Nadal had somehow made it to the AO final and beaten “35mm abdominal tear”-ovic this year it would have also been an epic achievement and match. There usually are reasons why these guys lose outside of “the other guy was better”…

We all know Nadal is clay GOAT we all know RG 2020 was a beat down etc etc. it doesn’t have to have any cosmic implications. Just saying that the individual match was an interesting one that brought the drama this sport is sorry missing. on June 11th watching that match, I felt like we were seeing something close to a vintage Big 3 match (despite the decline of both guys), two warriors spilling their guts on the court. and for that I will never forget it.

He needs to win another slam to be the undisputed GOAT
What does undisputed mean? That no one will ever dispute it? You will always find people who disagree about something.

Djokovic is the GOAT for me, and that's enough.

Djokovic is the Goat purely by the numbers alone. Everyone can have his own preferences, and subjective opinions on who might be the Goat, but by the numbers alone it's pretty clear cut. The Earth Mightiest Warrior is the most accomplished player in the history of this sport. ;)

The warrior point is a good point as hat match may be the last time we ever see two tennis players spill their guts until it hurts unless they play eafh other again as i do not think he new generstion actually have that desire to physically hurt on court. They are all a bit soft. So from that perspective a match to cherish even if quality was not there due to high Ufes count.
