Gulby just sent another one to racquet heaven. Don't worry, it won't be lonely.
^Now this Gulbis I recognise.
rofl Gulbis is a nutcase
Gulbis is freakin around right now.
You gUys said he was playing amazing, although he is playing good and taking it seriously, I was expecting bombs.
Prime Safin type of game play.
Here we go, people on this forum who have never played at I high level in their life, saying this is amazing.
I shouldve expected this.
does he not get his rackets for free. and his dad a millionare. so he can do this , no ?
cmon guys dont hate on Gulbs. He gave his racket to an older guy in the crowd. And he just broke
I placed a small bet on Ernests after he lost the 1st set (and saw him leaving the court to blow off steam) to potentially triple my money. His matches are so up-and-down that you can really get some favourable odds with In-Play betting if you do it at the right time. Just an FYI for something to consider in a potential Nadal match.
Gulbis let's pull this threw
Make me proud
Gulbis just broke
4-3 in the 3rd now
He has it now
He better beat nadals whining assssss
This rules. Next match will be epic.
i want him so much to obliterate the nadal... kinda delpo-style or tsonga-style... that would be awesome !!!
E-Gul is through? Anyways Nadal will destroy him.
ok thx for the info... if anybody has some clue about it, please let me know !
Doubt Gulbis can beat Nadal, he's doing well but not near the game needed.
Todays match: 24 winners, 49 UE's.
He'll have to up his level.
I'm expecting Gulbis to have the better start in the match. Better not break down when closing the first set again.
Gulbis is now up to #55 in the rankings. A victory over Rafa would bump him up to #45 and put him on the cusp of direct entry into every M1000 event (but it would be too late to help him for Miami and probably MC).
That's the key though. he CAN up his level. If he played like he did against tipsarevic, he has a chance to beat nadal.
against seppi, i am not surprised. i expected him to have ups and downs because ernests usually is less motivated playing against "grinders" like seppi and is more motivated when playing top ranked players.
Gulbis had a mini-meltdown to lose the first set but then recovered to win it in three. I think he definitely has a shot against Nadal.
He played Miami last year. I'd imagine he will be there.
Rediculous he's top 75 and can't get a WC into Miami, I predict gulbis will beAt Nadal and federer, and make it to the semis or finals, to get into the top 30
Anybody see his match against Seppi? Gulbis playing well, wins against high quality opponents and in Delray against the wind(USO12 joke). Is it Gulbis v Nadal next? Hoping to see Gulbis in the quarters. Oh so much tennis, to bad my school blocks the sites I use
Do you try fromsport? (sportlemon)
I'm gonna call current Ernests by "Gulbis 3.0". Original Gulbis and Gulbis 2.0 (Canas era) would have continued the first-set meltdown, cashed his check and headed for LA and party time. This shows me he is handling the mental side much better.
That being said, Gulbis 3.0 has zero margin of error for that kind of charity in his next match(es). He's gonna have to start AND finish razor-sharp and it still won't be easy.
The best thing about Rafa's walkover was getting to watch Ernests match. He definitely had a mini meltdown. Wonder how well he'll do in that regard on center court! I wouldn't be surprised if Ernests beat Rafa.
Gotta love Ernests interviews! He just lays it out there. But, the commentators discussing his coming from a rich dad was just doesn't have motivation almost reminded me of a drinking game. It was their favorite go to topic.
I agree, it's one thing to be a drama queen on a side court, another to do it the main court.
Try using a proxy server. When I was in highschool ~5 years ago I was using something called usa tunnel to watch streams if the streaming site was blocked.
He didn't mind smashing a racket and swearing on stadium court in Delray.
Why not Rosol style? Would be even more appropriate judging by style of games. Big serve and forehand combo bye bye humbalito
The Gulbinator is already #23 in the race rankings. Not bad considering he didn't even play the AO, not too bad at all!
It's insulting to compare Gulbis to Rosol. Rosol is a nobody...
Hes volatile, who wants bad press, 'Latvian tennis player: Misses overhead, finds ballkids head with racket'. He doesnt add much value to a tournament in ticket sales however a local guy from LA might, to the publics hes a no body, to the tennis comunity hes that guy that could be alright, and is always compared to a **** Safin
So is Gulbis.
How. Dare. You.
rosol style is nice too... but i have to admit i have a strong preference for extremely brutal scorelines when it's about denadalization.
What a great story
he's trash talking nadal now...the haters, and one nadal "fan", here will literally orgasm over this guy now..i'm guessing most of them will now favor gay marriage if they didn't already
When Gulbis 3.0 rosolizes Ralph Wednesday maybe Nadal will become Nowhere Man again for seven months!
who is trash talking nadal? a player or someone from TTW?
gulbis...was asked about hitting winners against nadal..said he was going to hit from corner to corner, make nadal run to see if he could get it...again, this guy is going to be crowned king of the nadal hate-brigade here at tt...come to think about it maybe i should trademark "nadal hate-brigade"...sounds like a t-shirt most people here would pay big money for...of course most people here would sell their mothers into slavery if it meant nadal loses or is hurt and can't play
Seems like he's just discussing strategy, rather than trash talking (compare with tomic's comments at AO2013). Then again, posters here are still going on about Rosol being an amazing player (he's not).
Kind of makes sense as Gulbis has a 0-3 head to head with Davydenko (flat, deep hitter, takes the ball on the rise, hits angles), but then again he does also have a 0-4 head to head against Nadal.
It will be an interesting match for sure.
Gublis can say he's going to dictate play like that, but he won't be.
I still think Gublis will most likely win. He's on a run and it's hard courts.
I see what you did there.
Let's just hope Gulbis doesn't pull a Richie Tenenbaum... He had an eagle* too.
* Falcon actually.

Indian Wells 2013 Final - Ernests Gulbis vs Grigor Dimitrov
The only place Gulbis and Dimitrov are going to meet at Indian Wells is at the hotel bar getting drunk. In fact, I think Dimitrov is already there... saving a seat for Gulbis when he gets crushed tomorrow.
i think gulbis is at this stage much more mentally together and stronger than dimitrov. gulbis has matured.
Dimitrov fell apart against Djokovic, some players can't change this kind of problem for years or ever.
