I see! Thank you! I'm looking up the reviews for the VS and it didn't do too well but the Pure Strike 98 16x19 got good reviews. How do you feel about any of the Aero line rackets?
I haven’t hit w/ the Pure Aero line, but I did hit w/ the Aero VS a year or two ago. Too stiff for my liking, but you might like it. Same for the Strike 16x19.

Hey Michael, do you have anymore of the Fischer Pro 1 FT racquets?
He sold those 4 to me. I still have them and may be willing to let a couple of them go if @michael valek doesn't have any more, however...

I did not like the old-style Fischer grip shape, so I changed them out for the 2nd gen Fischer pallets (the ones w/ the integrated butt cap). Additionally, I sold the old style pallets to another user here, so all I have are the 2nd gen pallets. PM me if you want more info/pics.

OK guys, end of holidays :( and back to "business" :D.

Today, I've spent approximately less than 25 minutes stringing that famous Pro Classic 90. I used the same string for both mains and crosses but used two different sets of strings (one for the mains and one for the crosses), exactly as it if were hybrid strings.

Everything went as expected, that is to say smoooothly o_O and my Fischer is, I believe, ready to play.

dnguyen, I've got a tutorial for you. It's a PDF document and I'm not sure that I can technically post it here. Can you please give me your email address? I hope that any "decent" stringer will be able to do the job the right way this time.

Cheers!

Don’t know why my post is not there anyway.

Welcome back, man. Here’s my email address: dannynguyen at tpg.com.au

Thank you. Can’t wait to receive.

All due respect @NicoMK, but would you be so kind as to post photos of the strung frame? I'm a bit skeptical as looking at the grommets on @dnguyen's frame, there is no way to 'easily' string this thing 2-piece and NOT 'jump' the channel.

Now, its entirely possible that your frame has a different grommet setup, which is what I'm interested in.

Thanks.

Yep, well spotted. In the end, I discovered that it is exactly what happened. Same racket and different grommet setup, which I had never noticed before. In that sense, apologies to dnguyen.

At the time when the very first Pro Classic 90 were produced - circa 1991, hybrids were not really an option, that's probably why.

Mine is more recent (1995 model).

There are always ways to solve the problem but I (or another stringer) should have this racket in hands to see what we can technically do (I have ideas that may work well).

I wrote to dnguyen to advise him to order grommets from Pacific. 2-3 years ago, they produced the X feel vacuum pro 90 which is an updated version of his frame with the same grommets as on my racket. That would be I think the easiest way for him if he really wants to play hybrids.

Then I have made a tutorial to string properly the most recent PC 90 with hybrids if some of you are interested but I'm sorry it won't work that way with the oldest frames like nguyen's. :(

A little sleuthing, and I can verify that statement, @dnguyen. Take a look at this image:

You can clearly see the elongated channel on BOTH sides of the frame, which is what is needed to 'correctly' do a hybrid on that frame.

However...none of the popular US online retailers have them. TWE, however, does carry them:

Yep, this is where I found them too.

I can help too with those grommets, just in case TWE may not have them in the end.

I started w the Vacumn Pro 90 way back and had others in between. My current sticks for nearly the last 10 yrs are the M105s.
I also have a MagTour 100 and for me it's not too dissimilar.

That said, when I started w/ the M105s, 4 3/8 was just right for my continental grip for all things.
But now either due to shrinkage or just learning to play w/ different grips/strokes, 4 3/8 seems too large.

Anyone has 4 1/4 or 4 1/8 pallets to sell or trade for 4 1/2 or 4 3/8? I can use as many as you have.

Thanks.

I appreciated your help @NicoMK

I will cut them out and will string up with natural gut, not hybrid.

I do have pacific grommets but won’t use them unless they are broken or damage, then I might use hybrid strings.

I’m liking vs natural gut strings.

Do you think you can replace the grommet on one side and use hybrid stringing? Or do you have some of the newer grommets?

No, it won’t make any difference but I’m gonna remove the power pads. I just handed the stringer my racquets today and will pick them up on Tuesday without installing the power pads. To see how it goes. Will report back later.

Asked before but is the pro 1 ft really that bad as the reviews? Or is the pro tour extreme / ft a better choice?
Except for the weight, I really liked mine. They are very muted, though.

Same thing for the Pro Tour Extreme FT. I have two of them, and at 16x18 in a 95 sq in, they're essentially a more flexible, more muted version of the Pro Staff Classic Stretch. However, be aware that the Pro Tour Extremes come with a molded handle, not a replaceable pallet. So, if you're planning on swapping out grip shapes, I'd avoid them.

Find me either of those in a lighter weight, and I'd be all over them. Just cannot handle the heft of 325g over the course of a 3 set match. I'm down to 310g in my Black Granite Pro No 1s, although they are extended (like the Pro No 1 FT and Pro Tour Extreme FT).

I have opportunity to buy some used pacific XFeel Tours locally but the grip size is wrong. Few years ago when I checked with TW they said Pacific does not allow them to sell grip pallets, and I would have to ship my rackets to TW. Has anyone figured out a better and cheaper method?

any string and tension recommendations for the pacific x feel vacuum 90? I was thinking about 20kg....
Full gut if you have it.

As far as tension...20kg is...

lets see...

divide by 0.4536...

carry the 1...

Hold on...almost there...

Ah! Got it! Around 440lbs? That might be a little tight. Oh, no, wait, wrong conversion... Damn this x10 multiplyer...

Ok, 44lbs? Sounds about right. Maybe 48 depending on what kind of gut you're using (Tough Gut is a tad more powerful than, say, Klip).

So, 48lbs in kg would be...

Aw, screw it! You figure it out...

@NicoMK

Just some feedback on my Fischer vacuum pro 90/ms and it worked fine with hybrid string, the same problem as before because the real problem was power pads which restrict the string movements. So power pads had beeb removed when freshly strung with KLIP legend 18 at mains and Big Banger Ace 18 at crosses. Now I will be able to slice to skidding bounce very low to enable me to attack at the net.
