Keep in mind that those Austrian engineers designed that frame when more dynamic multis and natural gut (less stiffened) were in play. They knew what they were doing, for sure. The Fischer Vacuum string of that time was a very stretchy, dynamic multi - superb feel and dynamic power.

Yes, actually I've noted this every time (which is only a few...) I tried to string my rackets just a tad higher. It would not respond the same "magical" way and I've always preferred low tensions. It's where the frame shines most as you wrote @Frankc .
As for polys it's another story. I do think Fischers play better with natural gut or multis for the same reason as said in Frankc's post above. I've tried once or twice polys but since they're not for me in any way, my opinion is probably not accurate re. those strings on a Fischer, and in general.

you can try pacific xcite string in them, that goes very well, at around 19/20kg

Hi Nico, I also have some vacuum pro classic 98(Purple and Gold) tried various multis, including Head Velocity 17, but definitely liked them better with Isospeed Professional Classic at 23kg, give it a try you'll probably like it too.Same. Will give it a go. Been with Velocity for a while now, happy with it but currently looking for something different. Thanks MV

Hi @tapatio the purple and gold are among my favourites. Feel solid like a rock.
I've tried some Isospeed a few months ago, which one I can't remember but it was something like that. @veelium might remember as we discussed about it.
I had the feeling that the string was sooo soft, almost too comfortable that I felt like "losing the ball" at impact sometimes, it was a very bizarre feeling. Once again I can't clearly remember which Isospeed it was, maybe not the one you suggested, or maybe it was a tension issue. But thanks for the tip, anyway, always highly appreciated.
Also, do you have the 320g PC or the 330g version? And pics are always appreciated too, I'm always happy to see some Fischers in photo

Which silver and red exactly? I remember some red and yellow - ones which I've never had. The only red and silver which I can think of are the Vacuum Pro N1.320g also have two 330g but in silver and red, can't use those I'm to old and fat for them

... Great ones. I don't know why but I was thinking of the Taiwanese red and gold instead, which are pretty rare. Btw if any of you have one of these in stock in very good shape and grip 3, willing to trade... why not.

Elliptics have jumped into my bag - they respectfully asked the 90 Vacs to take a rest.
MIA Elliptics really came to life strung way low with very stretchy old school mutis. Then those frames softened up and the fluid sense of feel and power was very unique. Ah, those Fisher engineers were at it again…

I have been using my (MIA) 1991 Vacuum Elliptic and Vacuum Elliptic Pro frames this summer, with great enjoyment and success. I string mine 1piece at 57 pounds with a 16-ga. Multifilament (Isospeed Professional or Fischer Vacuum 16) and all’s well in my world.

Thanks for remembering my shoulder! It’s feeling good for a high-mileage piece of equipment dating from the late 1960’s. I’m back to serving consistent 110 mph first serves, with no pain (well, for me. Opponents can speak for themselves).

I do recommend the Isospeed multifilament strings… made in Austria and very good!

What if anything is the difference between the Vacuum Pro 90 (blue/pink/yellow MiA) and the Vacuum Pro 90 (also MiA) that looks much the same except has "MS" on the throat?

I think there's no difference between these two, paintjob apart. They may have the "real one piece" thing written inside the throat if I remember correctly, but both are probably made at Fischer's factory at Reid, if made in Austria.I'm certain the answer to this must be somewhere in this thread but after 20 minutes of reading I'm giving up and asking directly

the description doesn’t give the specs and the photos don’t show them either. Would be cool to know what weight the yellow 98 is? I know it’s the same frame as the blue one, but is it exactly the same? Or is it just in another colour?

I think when new and white . That they are the neatest damps ever made . Best aesthetic. Why won’t more companies make white small little square damps ?

I have a bunch of those, obtained from Austria from a contact who got them from an ex-Fischer employee. Unfortunately they don’t age well and there seems to be a 50% failure rate when stretching them during installation.

I have several of them, both white and some black. The black ones aged very well: 0 failure. The white ones... yep, some aged pretty badly. We will see with those "new ones" when I get them, fingers crossed.
What I usually do is that I put them on the strings before stringing, so I don't have to manipulate them (I pull the flaps once for all).

Is there anyway to extend Fischer frames? Was thinking of using a shrink sleeve (if that’s possible?) with the sealed butt cap I’m not sure what else you can do. Feels like my pinky is living off the edge!
Fischer frames are discontinued more than 15 years and you could find cheap (second hand) extended versions like Extreme Pro or Revolution models. Keep in mind that most of the Fischer frames have high static weight and HL balance. You could move and fix properly the boot cap to extend the handle. Shrink slave is not an option because it is quite flexible, could change the grip size and add too much weight. Which Fischer model you have? Magnetic models have pallets and you could drill new fix wholes and move them.

Thank you. I’ll look out for the extended Ex P & Revo to cannibalize the pallet. I do have the other older grips that I’d also like to extend but not looking to drill into a vacuum chamber. Was thinking to add cork, epoxy and a shrink sleeve to make it 27.5. I’ve got a beaten up Vac pro that I don’t mind experimenting on

I did. It’s crazy soft but a bit unstable. Had to add a bit of lead but it’s a thing of beauty.
I haven’t been playing much tennis recently & only taken it out for a couple of hits, luckily it arrived with a ALU power (still snapping back), 2 power pads. Still has the metal end cap (unlike my M-Comp 95 and this feels like bigger version of that). Only defect is the Triforce logo in the middle of the yoke/bridge clicks if I press on the badge.
I don’t plan on selling this one anytime soon but I found & bought another one, that I quickly snapped up. It’s a bit more beaten up but I’ll happily ship it to you once it arrives at cost price.

Both are the 295g. That was the one you were after right? I haven’t come across the heavier version yet (from Japan). Right now I’m holding out for a shipping code (they give 3000¥ discounts for shipping semi regular). Hoping one will appear by next week, after I make that payment to take about 10 to get to mine. I’ll keep you updated

I like to pop in here occasionally to say Fischer made the best rackets ever, particularly the VTPro98/Pro1. I see so many rackets now that have a tapered beam design (thinner throat and thicker beam at 3/9, 12) and an aero beam shape (I mean the hottest racket is the Pure Aero 98 and it reminds me of a beefed up/modern Pro 1) and Fischer was doing this in the early 90s (or maybe 80s?) AND they were made in Austria of the best quality. It’s a shame, I wish they were still around as a continuation of the old tennis company/team. I would’ve loved to see their take on a third mold of the VT Pro90/Pro1

But yes pro 1 is almost like the aero 98, in the throat. If it was a bit stiffer it’d be very similar.

What grip size are you looking for? I have the sleeves from Pacific (and the wood dowel they provide) for extending, and the system works perfectly on Fischers (I know as I extended my Black Granite Pro No 1s).

Preferably G3 4-3/4. What do they look like? Thank you for letting me know they even existed. Are you sure you’ve got some spare? I’d hate to take ‘em off the Fischer Forum King, when they’ll be borderline impossible to find. Thank you letting me know, keen to see how they work, are they set X length (I know the extended Fischers are 27.4)?

Here's a photo illustration from the Pacific site:
Essentially it's a 3-piece system. For Pacific frames, there's a wedge built into the hairpin that keeps the center tube from sliding. For Fischer frames, you just staple the 3 pieces into place. The "plus" for stapling is that the tubes are reusable. When installed on a Pacific frame, there's no way to remove them (other than cutting them off).
They come "uncut", so technically your could extend past 27.5". They include a wood dowel that you cut to size and fit into the extra space. Again, I used these to extend my Black Granite Pro No 1s to 27.5", and I played over 3 years w/o any issues.
Unfortunately, they didn't sell this system in the US (probably for the same reason you can't buy Head pallets here), but I was able to get a bunch from the Pacific US rep before he closed up shop. I'll check to see what grip sizes I still have. Also, you could ping @michael valek and see if he can get some directly from Pacific. I could be mistaken, but I think you can order them in Europe.

@Guttersnipe, I finally remembered to check my stash. I have 3 of the sleeves pictured above in L4 (4 1/2”), and that’s all. Well, I have a few L3, but they’re sliced down the center (lengthwise) because I removed them from my Pacifics. Technically they can be reused, but if not stapled properly, you might feel them move/compress.
