In another attempt to bring some peace to the world of tennis forums, I invite all of you to give a compliment about Tomic. It could be about some of the qualities he has as a person or about his game. Surely he can't be all bad. Maybe afterwards we can send him a link to this thread and he will be inspired.

Meh, Why?

Yeah Navratilova and and her stupid anti-Tomic campaign is unwarranted, but no one really cares about Tomic.
 
He gives the best press conferences and interviews. The best. None of this, "my opponent played well today, I was fortunate to win some big points at key times, love playing at this event, the fans are great, need to thank my sponsors, blah blah blah blah..."

Hmm... Maybe he'll be inspired, or maybe he'll turn around and tell you that you could only dream of having what he does at 24, that in a couple of years he'll never have to work again, yet he's trapped in a life he hates that's made him rich, and will enable him to retire in his 30s, and the little people out there could never understand such a burden.

Tomic is a total Jerk, hopefully, he will retire or be banned soon.

Who knows, perhaps Tomic is the perfect player for Pepe's ideas? It couldn't do Tomic any more harm than he and his A hole father has done, and might actually do some good.
 
He is brutally honest, good on him. At least with Tomic, what you see is what you get. Don't be fooled by the well mannered gentlemanly types who always tell people what they want to hear, who knows what they are really like in real life.

And if he is a jerk he is only hurting himself.

They take the rankings from several (is it 6?) weeks before the tournament to decide direct entry. The Tank Engine will thrill the crowd at Flushing Meadow one more time.

Well, at least he's brutally honest. I'm sure many other pros especially his equally bad compatriot Kyrgios thinks the same thing. He has the qualities of a champion but the mindset of a 7 year old. There are some people that have to work in Factories and if that factory or whatever goes under, that's it. The factory is their way of living and paying bills for their family, w/e. Tomic should be greatful he's talented enough to become a pro and earn so much money.
 
I really really really like his game. He may not be the most dynamic and entertaining player out there, his game is unorthodox, slow and even lethargic for some people but it's different and if you pay attention, it stands out. He looks very effortless while playing, almost as he's not even trying (now we know he's actually not trying :oops:), his forehand is hard to read, his movement is not the greatest, he seems like walking on court most of the time but he makes up for it by reading his opponents considerably well and his pace and rythm is confusing. I don't remember the last time I saw a player play quite like him (Mecir comes to my mind, but still, Tomic's game isn't quite like his). All in all, Bernie is weird but I appreciate the fact he brings something different to this sport.


Editing to add: He's one of the players who wastes less time on court and I don't mean by tanking. You won't see him messing around and taking 25 seconds between each point, especially during his service game, right after finishing the point he's already preparing to serve.

Tomic is brutally honest..at your face..that's the only thing to be admired. The other good thing is that he gave Roddick a nice farewell win, and also making him good by losing 6-0.

I don't get this. If someone says things that are mean, nasty, negative or childish then he is brutally honest.
If someone says something nice, then he is just being politically correct.

If someone keeps saying nice things, it is just a front. Once if he ever says something not nice, then those are his real views. That is the truth about him. All the good things are overridden by one bad thing.

If our top pros say they play for the love of the game, then that is just PR. One guy says he plays only for money then that is the truth. If he says he doesn't care about spectators or fans, then he is honest. If he thanks them, then that is PR.

I'll be brutally honest. :D Tomic is a child. He has not developed or matured. The things he says are still childish and don't get extra marks for being honest.

What have we come to ? Are we going to celebrate mediocrity and pull down excellence ?

He is a spoiled child or a spoiled brat. No two ways to look about it.

He did become an excellent tennis player though. He approached the top end of the ranks in his profession and that's impressive in itself. He reached a very very high standard in something. Well done to the chap.
 
He comes across as petulant rather than arrogant, defensively self-protective rather than spoilt, and somewhat diffident rather than rash.

In short, he is sulking. This is not exactly a mature response, but understandable.

If he were a rock star, we would say what's new?
