The greatest player by Century

I've stated previously that Sampras won a slam in 3 different decades, the 80s, the 90s and the decade ending in 2009.

Now lets look at the greatest of all time by Century.

20th Century - Sampras, no argument.

21st Century - Djokovic the way he's travelling.

I guess, as brutal as it may be, leaves Federer and Nadal out in the cold, irrelevant so to speak. Sad but true.

That is all.

Blocker, 20th Century: Laver or Rosewall (or Gonzalez or Tilden).

Is this creature Sampras's fan?

20th is Laver, lost 8 prime years and game still translates to today. It would be french open for pete in todays game (slow courts), laver had many styles.

21st century is Serena. Unless he gets 21 grand slams and learns how to play doubles.

Chadillac, I must correct you: Laver lost only five prime years (Rosewall lost 11 years, Gonzalez lost 18 years).

Thanks for your "like"-

Whatever happened to Blocker.
Wasn;t he supposed to be 5555 or someone else ?

Dunno, but his "Sampras would beat Nadal at RG" thread was trolling gold.

:D:D:D

It was one of the first threads I saw and posted on, thinking of it makes me smile

When there was a thread about silliest threads, more experienced posters were naming stuff I hadn't heard of - "Federer should forfeit, "The Real Slam" etc. -

I plumped for the magnum opus you mentioned

I honestly don't know if I'm biased because it's one of the first threads I saw, but I feel the same way now... it's like the first Slam final I watched closely to me .... unforgettably memorable, sublime, brilliant!!!

Could he be an alt account of 90sC ? @Blocker is banned, but its a soft/silent ban.

There is no discussion here about the best player of the 19th century.

I believe we need a separate thread to discuss that. When I am in the mood to troll, I may post it.

15th Century: Joan of Arc (her volleys were miraculous)
16th Century: Ivan the Terrible (he golden bagelled every opponent)
17th Century: Louis XIV (he had the prettiest strokes)
18th Century: Issac Newton (he invented calculus to destroy opponents with advanced analytics)

Laver lost 5 prime years on the pro tour, not 8. Gonzalez lost 17, Rosewall lost 11
