The Greatest Singer of All time:

Morissette Amon is an incredible singer as well. Watch any of her covers, she’s got to be one of the best if not the best female singer right now. Then again there are a lot of singers I / we don’t know about.

You can't really answer this question. Can't compare different music styles. Opera is different than pop music.

I would even say you can only judge opera singing because it has a somewhat standardized technique and is sung strictly after the notes but even with opera it is subjective.

And when it comes to pop and jazz music is is so diverse and so much improvisation that it is impossible to judge it objectively. I mean there are many objectively bad pop singers and a few good ones but you can't say this pop singer is objectively world class. You can say whether one is just a bad singer or a pretty good one but you can't really rank pop singers objectively and say like he is 7th best in the world.

And then there are very mediocre singers who still produced great influential music like bob dylan for example.

I mean freddy mercury was a very good singer but you could find a similarly good one in a meaningless garage band but you couldn't find an opera singer like wunderlich or pavarotti on the streets because it takes an education (yeah I know paul potts was pretty good but not world opera quality) on top of talent to get there just like you need formal training to become a top tennis player.

An opera singer is like an nba player while a pop singer is like a street ball artist or harlem globetrotter. This doesn't mean the nba player is superior, the streetball artist can do things the NBA player can't
but only one of them is objectively measurable because he acts within a standardized framework.

Wow, a Yogendra Yadav DP! Another one I didn't think I'd see on Talk Tennis.
In times like these when most people in Indian politics and media are either fake or stupid or both, one has to recognise and remember the few good ones left.
Yogendra ji is a voice of reason and stands for the poor and the common man.
Extremely knowledgeable person. Love him.

Rafer Alston is a streetballer that later played in the NBA and did alright. He even had some good games in the playoffs.

Share the sentiment too. Gonna take any further discussion offline as this is a music thread but I hope you have seen the Kunal Kamra interview of Javed Akhtar and Yogendra Yadav.
