The gut/poly thread

I'm only playing 1-2X per week and rotating between racquets, so it takes a while to get some real playtime on each string job. I just hit about 8 hours of play on my VS / Poly Tour Strike hybrid, and it's cooked. Still plays fine, good spin and power. But, it's really uncomfortably firm. Arm discomfort after 5-10 minutes of hitting.

I guess I expected the softness and longevity of the gut to reduce the impact of dead poly. But the dead poly totally dominates the feel. Not sure I'll try this combo again.

Yonex Percept 100, 55m/50x. Haven’t tried any other gut/poly hybrids. I tried a few poly/syngut and poly/multi hybrids last year, but otherwise I’ve mainly played full poly setups. Since my arm has been bugging me I switched to Rexis Speed, which has worked out really well so far.
