tsk tsk, what's that saying about good plans being for naught or something?
Anyways, this team has been dominating all year. Best team last year and they picked up some good players including some guys who had 5.0 records but somehow stayed at the 4.5 level. (Seems the USTA mainly cares about the 3.0-4.0 moving up or down.)
But first round of the playoffs these guys lose. And one of the guys recruited loses to his team from last year. They are the better team but all it takes is one great day for the weaker team and they pull it off. This team was built to do well in sectionals and now....kabooooieeee!

Interesting. In my section, there's a captain that always recruits the top 4.5 players onto his team to create some sort of bionic-super-team. They dominate the regular season, but never make it beyond the local playoffs (maybe one year got to Districts)....and the reason is because most of the rostered players play on multiple teams and have primary allegiences to their other clubs/teams, so when playoffs come around half the team disperses via committment onto their primary teams.

Always hilarious to see this (and a little sad too, considering this team takes up playoff spot from other potential teams in their division).

I know a gal who's on six teams and now has tennis elbow! Is there any limit to how many teams you can be on? But, I guess USTA would be more than happy if you played on 100 teams, more money to them...grow the game and the USTA coffers.
