The Head Microgel Extreme Pro Pro Original CLUB

These rackets really are nice for Serve and Volleyers/doubles players. Feel free to add me to the list...

I'm playing the Extreme Pro 2009 edition. Does that count to be in the club?

I love it btw. Best stick I ever had.

Can you still get the original new or do you have to go used?

I think that most of us who have it have had it since it came out. I don't think you can still get them new...

i currently use a babolat apdc +. i hit with my friends youtek extreme and loved it. heard great things about the microgel and am probably going to buy one on the bay since some are pretty cheap. good decision??? good racquet??

thanks

No way, this thing is cash money from the baseline. It's a pure drive clone made for lubo when he switched over from bab. It plays very similar to the roddick, but imo has a better balance. I am talking about the youtek, but specs on all versions are close.
Here is a question: what is the grommet situation on these? Did they indeed change drill pattern or are they interchangeable? Looking at the youtek, the string spacing is wide enough to drive a bus through a la rad pro/k90.

Used ep 2008s are affordable but I don't want to get sucked into a grommetquest (tm).

Btw looks like youzhny is using the white groms.
Lastly, is there an extreme club for all versions? We need a catchy name!

I just got a couple of MGEPs myself, so count me in. Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried the Teflon grommets on the older 2008 model?

I'm taking a look at an original MG EP shortly... just wondering if a few more ppl who have experience of them would post up their thoughts and opinions on this racket... I admit this is kind of coming out of left-field for me, and I've never been curious about this line of rackets previously. However, I'm suddenly interested again in slightly lighter and a bit more powerful (for me), very whippy, very topspin b-liner rackets, and this kind of intrigues me somewhat... I suppose similar would be PDR, PD and the APD; though quite how similar, well, I'm about to find out...

BTW, Any pros play with this exact model (the very first Extreme Pro)?

Have just done a search and come across a load of dire warnings re harshness of frame and TE and other injury problems... hmmm... not good at all, and especially as I experienced some issues in this dept about a year ago... :( I shall proceed with caution.

I concur. I came back to tennis last year and used the MGEXP, developed tennis elbow. Have been using a variety of Prince racquets and haven't had the same issues.

As the title says..
A club for the owners of this amazing racquet.
Post pics, string setups, customizations.. Everything about this model of head.
I will later post some pics of my sticks.

Count me in. I fell in love with this racquet when it first came out (I had just taken up league tennis). I recently demoed some sticks, but none came close.

I asked my stringer to add some lead tape last time one was strung, and it really firms up my volleys.
Setup-I have two with the following: Blue Gear 1.28g with Wilson Stamina 16 in the crosses, lead tape at 10 and 2, Grip size: 41/2 with another 1/4" of Gamma padded grip. Total strung weight: 13.4 oz

Count me in!!

Hi guys!

Count me in!

I have one of these babies since it came out, and have been switching from and to it ever since. Now i am playing a prestige pro and decided to go hevy on the customization, took the pallet off and placed it 1 inch below, extending it without any reinforcing to the graphite. I must tell you, it plays SWEEEET!! I have never tried an x racquet before. I am fairly tall and 1hbh, all court, so i shouldn't like it, but it turned out so great that it's back as my number one playing stick! An experiment worth trying for those who have a backup extreme!

cheers!!
