The inescapable breakdown of Fognini's body

Just look at this. What a handsome brute. His face and body look like they were lovingly hand-crafted and sculptured by none other than the pantheon of Roman gods themselves.

Fabio-Fognini.jpg

However, there is one thing that unites us all. Something which encompasses mere mortals, such as ourselves, and living Adonis' like Fabio. That is the relentless and unstoppable arrow of time.

It's inevitable that Fognini's body will eventually break down. Until then, let's all just stop and admire the view, in a totally heterosexual kind of way.

So this guy is under 6ft, has a receding hairline, doesn't have much muscle mass and is a little bit chubby as well - and he is considered attractive?

Lol, if he wasn't (semi) famous and (semi) wealthy, there's no way in hell he'd land Pannetta - and he'd probably struggle with women in general - most women (even average looking women) prefer guys with a full head of hair and who are well above the 6ft mark.

Salty much? You are one ignorant fella if you think Fabio isn’t good looking.

Go outside and look around. 90% of people are average looking with average height, average jobs etc. You will never meet anyone with your defeatist attitude.

Besides, the vast majority of men are under 6ft tall. Just because tall men are desired by women doesn't mean that if you're 5'10 you can't date anyone. I see tons of women who don't have a D cup in happy relationships. So every woman who's single should just use the "but I don't have a D cup" excuse for every failure.

Can't wait to hear @BeatlesFan respond to this! :p

He is not even a teensy bit chubby, dude, women don't like protruding bones.

He can carry off the slightly receding hairline, we don't care.

I'm 5'5" he'd still look like a giant to me. AKA I DON'T CARE.

Hes not even 6 ft 5 inches tall, with 10% body fat, and 250lbs weight of mostly muscle? Pshaw. If it werent for his #13 tennis ranking, women would not even see him.

So this guy is under 6ft

What is this insane, laughable notion men have on TTW that a man has to be "tall" in order to be attractive? The most successful movie star of the past 40 years is 5'7:

This guy is 5'9:

5'10 for Johnny:

On the other hand, this guy is 6'3. Does that make him attractive!??o_O

How can any man past 14 years of age not see height has almost NOTHING to do with attractiveness? A short man who is funny, smart and has game will be happily juggling 40 babes while a tall but boring man will be knitting socks in his barren flat. Anyway, 5'10 is NOT short, it's above average height. And I apologize profusely for posting a photo of Trump, but to make my point, it had to be done.

I had a really good friend in school who was about 5' 5" and pulled all the chicks. We all hated him for it :D So this is complete bs.

I've had about 50 trillion chats with women over the years about men and not once has any woman ever mentioned height and correlated it with desirability. I've never heard, "oh, he'd be hot except he's only 5'8!" Conversely, nobody has ever said, "I'm going for Jose because he's 6'3." Height isn't even on the radar screen.

I believe it. I'm about six foot and average looking I'd say. There's no way I could ever pull off what he did. It was legendary :-D. Half the girls he dated were taller than him.

I'm not sure whether you're being serious.

''6 feet'' is an arbitrary marker for ''tall'. It's 1.80m (5'11'') in many countries which use the metric system.

Most women are absolutely terrible at accurately judging a man's height. I don't say that in a mean way. It's just that the average woman in most Western countries is about 5'4'' (1.62m), so women get regularly dwarfed by men 8-12 inches taller than them.

No offense, but I think you're probably not a millennial.

Nowadays women date mostly through dating apps where they can have a big checklist and filter the men they want to meet based on things like height, weight and salary. Since height is usually first in that order of priorities, Fognini would probably not make it through the first round of the application process for most millennial women.

You have to be VERY attractive to make it nowadays as a man - most of society is based around young women sharing a small pool of very good looking tall, desirable and successful men whilst all the young and average-looking men play video-games or whatever else they can do to amuse themselves. Japan is the most extreme example, but the pattern is trickling rapidly into every developed society.

Lol, you do know how much flak and ridicule Tom Cruise gets for being a midget, don't you?

I'm sure he doesn't mind and can cry himself to sleep on his pillows of ca$h about it, but let's not be under any false pretenses - it is only his wealth and social status that make him successful with women; strip that away and most women would bat him away.

I think that you're looking at this in too much of a black-and-white kind of way.

Sexual and romantic attraction is multi-faceted. Just because someone lacks in one department doesn't necessarily mean that they won't impress in others. What my be considered physical ''flaw'' frequently becomes an ''endearing quirk'' when feelings develop.

Just look at all the couples you see in everyday life. People's life partners don't always match up to a preconceived ''checklist'' of traits.

You have a fair gripe about the common ''6 ft+'' stipulation in many women's online dating profile. But it's absurd to suggest that someone like Fabio wouldn't be successful on if he just ignored this ''requirement'', and just messaged the women anyway.

I wish that were true. I'm only 5'4" and my experience on dating sites in the past has not been good. "You are a good looking guy .... but .... " The door is shut before I even got my foot in the door for the smart, funny and got game part.

1st off, LOL that you think Fognini, a guy who would be a model if he wasn't a tennis pro would struggle with women.

2nd, stop searching for women on the internet. Get out of your basement and do an activity where you can meet a real woman. Meeting single women is so absurdly easy. You just have to go outside and do STUFF. Find a hobby, you'll find women there.

Your theory is hilarious - you have all these women happy to be round robin'd around a handful of tall dudes, never having a relationship. If your only interaction with women is on the internet, you deserve the bad pool of women you find there.

Now if you wasted your 20s and 30s and even early 40s, then yah, old guy finding women isn't going to be AS easy.

''Pretty-boys'' don't tend to age particularly well. Just look at Leonardo DiCaprio these days.

Yeah, it's not only his looks. Beating women up is one of the top ways to lose appeal. I know not to believe everyything I read. He doesn't seem very pleasant. Give me back Donnie Brasco Johnny Depp.

Yeah, he does come across as an unsavoury character, even outside of the domestic abuse allegations.

It's strange how so many rich and famous people appear to be troubled and damaged. I guess that the old adage of ''money doesn't buy you happiness' is somewhat true to an extent.

weird that you've not seen Fabio Fognini ever, especially when there was a picture of him directly above your post.

I have never been a Cruise fan, but it's beyond hilarious any man thinks any woman (or gay male) would "bat this away."

Ain't happening.

Trump's not a bad looking guy. And I'm not buying that Depp and Cruise are anywhere near their billed heights.

I haven't been on a dating site for 20 years ? or so too long ago to remember but back in 'the day' At 5'5" my only requirement was that they be no more than 1 inch shorter than I was. I ended up with so many men that lied about their height by several inches and were closer to 5' than 5'5". HOWEVER, their height was never the problem. Don't show up for dates looking like a slob, don't eat like a slob, don't do all the talking and don't post pictures that look nothing like you. AND for chrissakes don't write bios talking about "no one with baggage" and a list of unrealistic demands. Most men aren't half the catch they believe they are.

BTW... the first man I ever fell in love with (early 20's) was 5'6" and I met him when I was standing alone looking out over the ocean. He walked up and handed me a cheap bouquet that he bought off a street vendor and said "I know they're sort of sad but I just had to find some reason to be able to say Hi to you". We were together for four years. No it didn't go the distance but there were some great times in those 4 years.

Your height isn't the problem. Honestly.

You are the typical dude who is a giraffe and likes to make unscientific assertions to feel better.

According to scientific studies, most women want a man's height between 5' 10" and 6' 1". Even tall women do not want men to be over 6' 4". So no, women (on average) do not want men who are way over 6 ft, but only slightly over 6 ft.

That's also "my perfect partner" kind of data. It doesn't mean a woman would reject a man that's 5'8" if he had a lot going for him. It's not that important.

ferrett has em hook line and sinker once more

You say that, but the points which he made about height, balding, etc. are common talking points amongst men on the internet,

Speaking as a professional troll, I think that there are two major varieties of trollery.

The first one is attempting to make an absurd and ridiculous point sound plausible, and seeing how far you can ''reel them in'' with ever-increasing mental gymnastics and ''impassioned'' and ''knowing'' arguments.

The second variety is making a serious argument, but dressing it up with exaggeration and hyperbole.

I believe that Mr. Ferrett adopted the latter example in his original post on this thread.

Cool story. I am sure a lot of guys lie about more than height. :) I always thought it was interesting hearing what kinds of messages ladies would receive. There are lots of mouth breathers out there.
I had an eloquently written profile with very recent pictures and I am thoroughly convinced I got left swiped for being short more than anything. Their loss, though. I think height is a lot more important than you might think but I admire your outlook and appreciate your candor.
