The Market is ripe for AG100 Tour or AG100 4D?

Seems almost EVERYONE is putting extra weight on their AG100, about 5-10g at each 3'O and 9'O.

They should come out with the heavier weighted AG100 Tour? Or just do the AG100 4D with the preferrable weight?

who is almost everyone? the people on this forum?
You cant generalize about the public from this forum alone.

The people in this forum are the only ones who count

Seriously though, the general public are clueless for the most part concerning anything about racquet science and physics.

I have not added anything to mine other than a TW thin leather grip, overwrap, and string. I think it plays great as is.

Like Rabbit, I've been very pleased with the AG100. Thrilled, even -- it had been a long time since I was this excited about a new racquet. Imo, it's a groundbreaking design. Great fun to play with!...

*IF* Dunlop wants to tweak the design in a 4D version, I would suggest:

- increase static weight by 10 grams, distributed evenly throughout the frame

- go with the beautiful pj of the 4D 200 16X19 (see http://www.tenniswarehouse-europe.com/viewlarge.html?PCODE=D4D2R19)

- do not change anything else! (especially leave the string pattern alone -- 18X20 would compromise the 100's terrific spin potential)

I like the 100 as is, maybe with tighter than the 54 lbs. I tried it with.
It's nicer than my Mfil 200 18x20, but not worth a change or money spent.
I've used most of the pro rackets availible to try in Berkeley Ca., AFTER I bought the Mfils.
All were different, but I can't say any would help my tennis anymore than what I gots.

So if there a new 100 coming out?

I think it's about time I give something else a try rather than using my stash of original max 200g's. :D

How does it compare to the aerogel 200? I've been curious about the aerogel 100 for a while but haven't been able to talk to anybody that's used it.

If you want to feel something similar to those original Max 200's try the KPS 88.

BP is correct.

My dream 4D AG100 would have a little more swingweight (and a decent stock grip), and be a little less head-light.

Yes and yes. I think you guys are spot on. I think Dunlop is missing the boat a little on not putting out a 100 in their new line up. And please yes keep the open string pattern.

Also, Dunlop puts out a quality product. They have a great stable of pros and don't seem reluctant to invest in tennis. I sure wish they'd change a little marketing, their racket sales could easily double in the US alone.

Oh and one other thing....ditch that plastic grip on the AG100 for the one that comes on the McEnroe racket. A leather grip should be stock on the 100!

However, I do like the TW thin/wide leather on there.

I totally agree! :)

From a pure quality, fit and finish standpoint, in my extensive experience, Dunlop is above all the other brands. Their frames have beautiful high-quality paintjobs and they look like fine instruments. They are the "Lexus" of the tennis racquet industry, IMHO. :)

I think their racquets are too flexy for US tastes. US players seem to prefer stiffer frames from Wilson or Babolat.

Yep...on top of everything else, I bought 3 and they are spec-wise exact duplicates. Same weight/balance....Dunlop does it right. It makes me regret a 20-year absence...last Dunlop I played wth was the Maxply.... :)

You may be right, although the senior crowd really flocked to Volkl for a while until Volkl decided to go head to head with Babolat. I find that the likes/dislikes for frame stiffness are about as varied as the sticks themselves at least around here.

Fewer and fewer manufacturers seem to be making Flexy frames, including Volkl who added the DNX material.

That is why I was very surprised to see that the Prince Exo 95 (with the beautiful Amazon forest PJ) has a flex of 60! But on reading the user reviews, I already came across an opinion that it is too weak in the head. That is what the average US consumer will generally conclude. And nowadays perhaps the world over. So I don't see what market is there for that frame.

Yup....I used to own 4 x AG100's and ALL of them were identical in specs - weight, balance, SW, etc., and I didn't even request them to be matched when I bought them. Amazing! :)

Try that with Wilson. :(

I almost never see Volkls anywhere anymore. It seems that was a short-lived phase that has passed.

I just think it'd be nice to be able to get the AG100 outside of the US.
Funny, but early last year we here in the U.S. were saying the exact same thing - it'd be nice to be able to get the AG100 inside the U.S. - since it was sold just about everywhere around the world EXCEPT the U.S. :(

It really is. Right up there with Dunlop, I have to say Yonex does a great job as well.

Yep. I think they had a window when they could've gone either way. It seems that now they're pretty much a fire sale organization; shame too at one time they made great products. Just goes to show you that being a world class athlete doesn't guarantee you know anything about business.

I disagree. Look at the specs on Wilson's line. Wilson makes flexy rackets too. The model the Sisters use has a flex of 57. There is and always will be a market for different feeling frames, that's why they make more than one.

Yes, I'm a big fan of the TW leather grips. I got four on my four AGhundreds.

Volkl has changed its go-to-market strategy, at least that's what I've been told. Apparently they're readily available you just have to order them direct through a dealer.

This is exactly Rabbit's point about Marketing, it builds and influences consumer's preference.

Aren't they going to do a 16 X 19 AG200 4D version at 95 sq. in. (But no 90 version.)

I guess they've given up on smaller heads.

I hit for a short time with Samster's stock AG 100 with an overgrip on it. I absolutely loved it. I think it had gut and Iso at about 55m 58 crosses. Absolute weapon if you ask me. My birthday is coming up. If I can get the family to chip in--it will be my holy grail. Love it more than the n90....

Ah, Saram, it is a beauty isn't it. Wait til you use your 1HBH with it, you will beat Samster for sure  And it is the best serving racquet I have ever hit with.
