Why do matches start so late here? 3pm?

They want to start the matches in the hottest heat of the day 3 pm to 6 pm so players and spectators will buy more cold drinks :D , actually it probably has to do with attendance more ticket buyers in late afternoon-evening as peeps work.

Was there yesterday, and going back for semis and finals. Having this tournament 10 minutes from me is awesome. Literally sat ON the court yesterday watching Simon get pummeled by a dude who's my height. Not sure I know of another tournament as intimate as this one, and pulls some pretty great talent.

Querrey pulled off an impressive win yesterday in the 3rd, that was fun to watch.

Hoping Gasquet makes it to the semis so I can see him but he's got a tough match tonight vs Verdasco I believe.

Verdasco nice to watch when he's not imploding mentally. Although not much is separating him and Johnson, Fernando just managed to grab a break at the end of the first set to take it.

Indeed, Verdasco just a little bit better.

Congrats to Verdasco blnt Johnson 76 76*7

All three Americans bite the dust on Tobacco Road with Fratangelo the sole winner of a set.:(

In a way, Johnson losing early may be a blessing in disguise. He's played a lot and can use the long weekend to refuel the tank for USO.

So glad you got to be 'there' Josh. Do you have any other observations from you time courtside? If so, I'd love to hear them.

You may have a point there, Now if Johnson could learn to hit a slice as a drive like Ken Rosewall did, he'd improve more in ratings, he has the length yet its not driving thru the baseline as Rosewall did vs topspin players.:D

Looks as if Stevie and Sam have run out of steam. Maybe they should have followed Isner's example and taken the week off to rest up ahead of New York?

lol, sensing sarcasm but not 100%.

Always wanted to see Simon, have seen him the last two years and he lost both times first round. Human backboard as everyone says, but just doesn't have the weapons to win.

Querrrey played badly overall in the match I saw, finally pulled a break in the 3rd set at 4-5 and ended up winning ugly.

Looking forward to hopefully seeing Gasquet and Verdasco tomorrow if both of them make it through their Quarters matches.

Reeshard has let you down, losing in straight sets to Millman. This is the Aussie's first SF at Tour level.

Thanks for the Info, didnt I see you selling encyclopedias :D

Yeah. Its more compicated than I thought. If you want to be cautious do some Batmanstream to start the tournament, then do 3 day trial of Easy Hide Ip (they just want your email more or less) and try From Hot. For the last week sign up for Sling TV trial (which will renew for a month on you if not careful). .... For free 3Fees! Do it.

I just conquered a somewhat antiquated MXQ media box that was given to me:
http://www.****.com/itm/like/272260382637?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true
$13

They have a 4k capable versions for $30 with the same simply awful remote. Horrible, horrible device because the remote was so bad. You had to be within six feet and pointing straight at it and it still was pure torture. I got it working with a CetusPlay android ap remote setup on my phone and its 1000% better, but still a big waste of time compared to something like an AppleTV4. I about killed myself trying to get my pc's keyboard to work with the POS to no avail. Its now very tolerable, but the interface is still challenging compared to something like an IPAD or Android phone.

The MXQ comes loaded with Kodi open source media server which some enthusiasts will customize for their home theatre so there LED lighting changes as they move from trailers into a movie (not me). I got my Kodi setups on Ipad, PC, and this device rolling with Exodus which pulls in all sorts of movies (as in all) at 1080p. 1Channel can track down any tv show nicely. Sports apps for TV channels seem a bit of a waste. Something called Torrent Stream Controller has a lot of high def tv channel feeds, but its quite cumbersome and overall tv channels on these devices are a sad substitute for cable TV or the awesome Sling TV.

I'm an hd audio snob too so streaming really doesn't excite me as none of the solutions have Dolby True HD or DTS HD sound. The AppleTV can load something called Infuse which will transmit this audio from a Kodi media server for those who have such media on their hard drives. Despite conquering and improving Kodi on all my devices its still just not good enough in my book for anyone with standards.

Going High End in tennis is relatively easy and quite rewarding. Cut the cord and experience the best coverage of tennis in the highest quality at the fraction of the price of traditional cable, etc.:D

Gasquet seemed a little tired, Millman played a little better.

Its hot! Did they delay the 2nd match today because of the heat? I didn't hear it, but suspect that's what they did. Makes sense not to have every one heat stroking and they probably do better business. Wonder if they have a nice area associated with the football stadium for such a situation.

I didnt hear about that, the humidity there is intense so they may have.

I'll keep it in mind, I'm still looking around, its appears espn is covering the us open with 130 hr of streaming, good info though thanks.

Fantastic win by Millman, knew he had it in him and put money on the upset. Always been a good player in him and he's finally had his breakthrough in the past 2 years. His first ever tour SF, he's had a couple QF's and a 3R at a slam. I think this is his highest rank win. Such a genuine guy, so kind and down to earth, had the pleasure of meeting him in Brisbane (mine & his home town).

Breakout year for PCB...2nd SF in HC 250's to go along with two clay 250 finals. Before this year he had made just 2 SFs, both on clay in Portugal.

break serve, break serve, break serve, dasco up 4-3 in 3rd set, serving to consolidate the break

Not one iota of sarcasm there. If had intended sarcasm (which is not beyond me) I would have done the sticking-out-the-tongue thing or the wink thing, instead of the dumb simple happy face. :)

Generally, I'm a WYSIWYG kinda gal. I hate it when posters denigrate others. I hate it when posters don't recognize that there is really nothing wrong with others having a different opinion. I hate it when posters denigrate professional tennis players for their style. It's ok to not like them as much, but the disrespect stuff....not so much. (Sorry, this Pollyanna view spills over from my idealistic, naive childhood.)

Oooops. I got sidetracked. Look, a shiny thing!

Back on topic...I am truly interested in hearing your observations and am thrilled that you get to see the tournament first hand.

The draw looks a bit depleted at this point. RBA likely to take this one.

The hard courts have not been kind to the minors:
Vesely withdrew at 5 all in R16 match and Millman took care of Frantangelo too.
The rest of the younger players exited without much more than a whimper including the aged Verdasco dismissing young Fritz in the 2nd round.

The cherry on top of the Sunday is that Leander Paes is into the semis in doubles.

RBA was choking, but held and now a tiebreaker!

Nerves are weird. Why should a man who's won four tour titles get so nervous about the prospect of simply making another final? If nerves were rational, that wouldn't happen. But as they are non-rational, it happens!
