The Most Prestigous/Highly Valued Grand Slam?

Assuming you were neither Australian, French, English or American, which Grand Slam would you want to win the most?

State your opinion in ascending order of preference.

depends where u grew up

most anglophones wanna win wimbledon. even if ur american or australian, thats the grail

think if u asked a lot of europeans n south americans, theyd say the FO because they grew up on clay courts, admiring the best clay players

nobody cares bout the other two except ppl from their own countries

It usually goes:

Wimbledon
USO/FO (lots of argument on this one)
AO

In reality though, nowadays, I think they are all about equal. Wimbledon maybe still has a slight specialness to it. But really they all feel about equal. All have roughly equal prize money (AO's actually the most), and all have the same top 3 guys dominating the finals...with surface homogenization etc. I don't place much value on one above the other.

AO/FO

People remember Wimbledon champions for a reason. Borg? Connors? McEnroe? all most famous for their Wimbledon victories.

Wimbledon is the most prestigious.
Always has been and always will be.

Just like Harvard is the most prestigious university in America. Always has been and always will be.

I think Wimbledon is the most prestigious. Most pro players dream of winning Wimbledon. Federer, Becker, Sampras, Hewitt, Djokovic have all said they want to win Wimbledon most

The next in prestige is probably the US Open.

After that is the French and last Australian.

I prefer the USO with the AO second.

But I'd say Wimbledon is easily No.1 with the USO/FO next and the AO bringing up the rear.

In terms of prestige it's definately like this.

1. Wimbledon
2. Roland Garros
3. US Open
4. Australian Open

On TTW it's like this:

1. Wimbledon
2. Australian Open
3. US Open
4. Roland Garros

Order of my sympathy for the majors:

1. Wimbledon
2. Roland Garros
3. Australian Open
4. US Open

Nonsense!

Though it's admirable of you to speak on behalf of TTW to save everyone else some time, the posts I've seen would not suggest that AO is second, though I would agree that the majority here see Wimby as #1 :)

For me, it's:

1. Wimby, by a mile
2. USO
3. RG
4. AO

As someone who grew up playing on clay in the middle east and watching FO and Wimbledon I'd still say:
Wimbledon: still most prestigious due to history
FO: also historically very significant
These 2 mean a lot to most players not in Australia or US. Hearing about Borg is enough for that.
Then I'd add USO followed by AO.

US Open by far.

Shameful that some of us Americans are saying Wimbledon.

Those Brits can keep their pansy-slam.

US Open >>>>>>>>>> Australian >>>>>>> French>Wimbledon

I think you are confusing a general question of overall prestige/value in the entire world, with your personal feelings of what slam you would personally want to win most, as an American.

I guess the next the thing you'd suggest is that the most prestigious clay event in all of tennis, is the US Clay Court Championships, and to hell with Roland Garros (unless you are a French person, in which case, you would be properly displaying your national pride, without being "shameful") :)

It would be the same for me, a Grand Slam is a Grand Slam.

Australia would the least important, but any of the other 3 would be the same.

I ain't American, merely stating what the opinion of an American should be.

I'm British, and we hate Wimbledon over here, because we hate everything.

We hate the Olympics, and are cursing the fact that we won that piece of ****.

Wimbledon is the biggest, but I'm also a Brit and I hate the snobbishness that comes with Wimbledon. The reason we're so crap at tennis is because of the snobby attitude of the people who run that tournament. In terms of atmosphere, I prefer watching the US open.

Wimbledon would be first, with the US and French open being about even and Australian open last.

Oh...okay....

You Brits are just too looney for me to comprehend, most times :)

Even Nadal, whose best surface by far is obviously clay, said that he dreamed of winning Wimbledon more than the French Open as a kid.

when did the UK have an election and name its spokespeople for TW? I know people in England who LOVE Wimbledon and are pretty thrilled to have the Olympics (they just are not thrilled about the hassle and the costs). Just like any given subject, some people love it, some people hate it, some people are indifferent. It's silly to think that everyone in the UK has one same thought about the Olympics or Wimbledon.

It seems to be that Spaniards in general want to win RG the most (JCF, Costa, Moya have made comments like that) but "Europeans" are split on Wimby or RG being the most desirable slam. Novak said he wanted Wimby the most, now he wants RG because he doesn't have it. Some of the German players have talked about wanting Wimbledon the most. Honestly, I would think that Wimby and RG could be split amongst players outside the US and England.

Let me assure you it is THAT particular poster who is the looney. He is a troll who has posted here before under various names before getting banned. It shouldn't be long before he gets banned again (hopefully).

He is about as representative or typical of anything British as the government of North Korea!

Take it from a proper Brit!
