NADAL VS DJOKOVIC!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 years on since Nole wrestled the Bull at Roland Garros, the greatest rivalry in tennis history will have a new chapter. A decade since his first triumph on Centre Court, Nadal still rules men's tennis with an iron fist in his ruthless pursuit of the Slam record and sporting immortality. But Djokovic, after years of struggles and setbacks, has recaptured the magic that earned him 12 Slams and wowed millions of fans, and seeks to redeem himself - and the tennis world - from El Matador's unforgiving clutches.

This is not only a match between tennis players, it is a battle for immortality. It is a battle which will change things forever. It is perhaps the most significant match of our era, along with the 2017 Australian Open.

AJDE NOLE

But really, go Novak. :D
Hope it's a good match either way.

No, this isn't the match that decides all, this is just arbitrary. You can randomly pick any two matches that decide the slam count. I think Federer versus Stakhovsky was the match that decided who the goat was.
Fed probably would have won Wimbledon at the time and end up with 21.

No, this doesn't decide once and for all, that's impossible. But it's a massively significant match for both players and for tennis, just as AO17 final.

Yeah Fedr would have won in 2013.
If Sergiy somehow didn't beat him, another good grasscourter like Tsonga or Haas would have done the job

It doesn't work like that. When champions pull out a tight match, they get confidence and are better in later rounds, you see that so many times. Fed often goes on to win a tournament after pulling out tight matches. All big 3 are doing that.

I don't see it, it's just like any match. Why is AO17 more significant? Fed would have less slams if he lost any GS final. You think too emotionally, mathematically no matches are more significant than others.

The greatest rivalry in tennis history without a doubt. However tomorrow's match isn't as significant as AO 2017 yet. It could escalate in prestige in the coming years for sure ddepending on where the slam race goes.

Significant to the sport, to the tennis community, and to the rivalry. Of course this is not some objective nuff-said-no-excuses GOAT deciding match; such a match doesn't exist

Yeah! Underestimate Isner all you want. Let’s see IF Nadal or Djokovic Will survive that serve.
Cant undestimate. Isner is playing on baseline like a bunny and holding serve.

I feel Fedr would have lost to him in SF with this form anyway. Anderson will be KO-ed in straights.

So the most significant match in tennis history is a semifinal on an obsolete surface?

Between a player who hasn't been past R4 in Wimbledon since 2011, and a player coming back from injury...

Yea, no.

Nadal might be playing some of his best grass court tennis in 7+ years and Djokovic is playing his first real BIG match in years, we don't really know where he is. Yet bookies sees him as the favourite.

All pressure is on Nadal tbh with the form he is in. Would be quite an embarrassment if he couldn't win. Djokovic is still looking for his comeback breakthrough.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I think that Isner could be the spoiler at this slam! How funny would that be?

Why not? He has an 8-3 record against Anderson and still hasn't dropped his own serve. On top of that, he's actually breaking all of his opponents. It's his Miami form on the Slam stage.
If Isner beats Anderson comfortably and Djokovic-Nadal goes 6 hours...

What I like about Isner is that he doesn’t fear the big guns. Just like DelPo.

The Cincy final in 2013 which Rafa won in two close tiebreaks and his wins over Novak and Roger is a testament to that. Now that he’s won a masters, his confidence has grown exponentially.

Isner always had the mentality, now he also has the game. He was breaking people left and right in Miami and even at this Wimbledon broke Raonic's serve on grass a few times, this is the first time he made a deep slam run (SF). He's the underdog but definitely not to be underestimated, not when his game is clicking like this.

Except if Nadal beats him in the final right? Then he's a mug again...

No. Nadal handles Isner and Karlovic better than any other top player, I wouldn't consider Isner a mug even if he loses to Nadal in straights in the final.

Isner would have a better chance against Novak.

I know you wouldn't, but there are some on here that most definitely would...

Sure but this draw won't get the 2017 USO treatment either way, Nadal beat Delpo (who's in top 5 now) in a 5 setter this time around and he'll have to beat Novak who's in solid form in the semis.
